Panotti of the Opera (6)

1108 Words
Writing a letter to Syris was more nerve-wracking than getting approval from Amanda about the new musical. Floopy had discarded more than ten drafts and Klick remained silent, trying to not add more pressure to the panicking panotti who didn't think he was eloquent enough. "I'm done! Klick, give me some opinions?" The bat demon stopped his revision, It should be around three in the morning now and Floopy still hasn't revised for tomorrow's test. The panotti was going to fail at this rate being sleep-deprived and labelled stupid when the test results came out again. "What did you write?" he tried to keep his voice even and Floopy cleared his throat. "Dear Prince Syris, you have a great personality and are very kind. Thank you for fixing my glasses and sorry that I ran away. If it doesn't bother you, could we become friends?" Klick deadpanned. "Are you sure this is what you want to send?" Clearly Floopy knew that it defeated the purpose of an anonymous letter with such a specific encounter... right? At three in the morning, Floopy's brain didn't register how this sounded. He thought he did a very good job of not sounding too creepy in the letter after so many attempts. He didn't want to make Prince Syris feel uncomfortable and he didn't think he was worthy enough to be communicating with someone of such status so a letter was the safest method of communication. Who knew what kind of crazy things Floopy might say or do again if he saw Syris in person... Klick sighed. "Alright. I will send this to his room. In the meantime, please study for tomorrow's test. We don't have much time and you need to sleep soon." Thrilled, Floopy agreed and sealed the handwritten letter in an envelope to pass to Klick. The bat demon snuck out through the window. At this hour, most people should be asleep. It wouldn't be too hard to deliver this letter directly to the alpha dormitory, he just had to find out which room the Siren Prince was in and slip it under their door. Floopy addressed it to Syris so things would be alright. The siren was rooming with his shark merman guard so there shouldn't be a mix-up with names. At the very most, shark man would throw it away and Klick wouldn't have to comfort his roommate who would have a broken heart later on. After Klick was gone and took to the night skies, Floopy cleared his bed and disposed of the drafted letters. There was a test to study for tomorrow but the adrenaline was wearing away so the panotti found it harder to focus on the books. Klick found the room easily and slipped Floopy's letter underneath the door. The shark merman caught his ears with the strange snoring noise but he didn't hear another person in the room. Where was Prince Syris at this hour? Curious, Klick flew around the academy hoping to figure out where the prince was so late into the night. After two rounds, Klick gave up. He was better off returning to their room to help Floopy study. Although his roommate was a brilliant composer and musician, his academic grades were suffering from how much time he spent writing songs and sacrificing sleep. It wasn't a good thing when Floopy did well but it also wasn't a good thing when Floopy did poorly in class. Doing poorly only gave the other classmates more reason to bully him but doing well made them scorn the panotti who would then be accused of cheating. When he got back, Floopy was already beginning to doze off. His glasses were falling off his nose and the panotti was nodding constantly. "It's delivered. Do you need any help?" Floopy jumped and nearly screamed in fright. For a blind bat, his roommate certainly knew how to scare the daylights out of him every time. He didn't know how Klick did it so silently but the blind bat could almost be forgotten if he didn't speak sometimes. Floopy was a victim of this many times especially when he returned from the forest. "K-Klick! You scared me and that was fast." Klick grinned. "Of course. It wasn't difficult to find out where they stayed at this hour, nobody sane would be up so late. Have you studied?" Floopy turned red. "No, not really. It has been only twenty minutes since you left." Klick settled down beside Floopy and asked where the panotti had trouble remembering. Floopy smiled as his friend made himself comfortable on the bed. According to Klick, he spent a lot of time sleeping in class because he was nocturnal and spent the rest of his time at night studying ahead. Unlike him, the bat demon was actually really smart and good at a lot of things despite his blindness. Sometimes, Floopy admired him and knew how different they were. "Maybe if he wasn't my roommate, people wouldn't bully him along with me..." Klick stopped his lecture in the middle. "Did you say something?" Focussing back on the lesson, Floopy denied it and smiled. Thankfully supreme hearing wasn't Klick's skill. Even though the bat demon had a good sense of hearing, Floopy was still better with his oversized ears. "Focus!" Klick flung an eraser with deadly precision, hitting the boy on his head. "If you fail this test tomorrow I will not deliver your letters for you." Panicked and motivated, Floopy started concentrating for real. Klick had to hide a smirk. His friend was too easy to fool. How did such a pure creature end up as a beta? Normally, sweet boys like him were omegas and should be given a chance to be protected by their alphas. Betas were usually independent creatures with no real meaning behind their existence. In Klick's opinion, the principal might be wrong when assigning Floopy his second gender. Most betas were special cases. They either had a good reason to not drink the potion or were accepted personally by the principal. Some betas were here to hide their true second gender for some reasons like him. As the night dragged on, the boys focussed on revising for the test until Klick was confident that Floopy remembered enough to pass. Then, the bat demon let the musician go to bed and set the alarm. The silence outside felt slightly unnerving for Klick. For some reason, he felt like he was getting hunted. "That's ridiculous," he shook his head. For now, he would help Floopy out. He still had plenty of time for his mission. There was no need to rush.
