Cole came out of the shower and, with light steps, stood in front of the fogged mirror.
Minutes later, with one hand, he started to remove the mist while, with a frown, he kept remembering the half-naked woman he had seen at Jax's office.
"Perhaps his new girlfriend?” - He asked himself as he looked down at the towel rack that was in front of the sink.
With a gesture more abrupt than he would have liked, he took the towel between his hands.
"Although he said something about a gift... from Paul!"
“That i***t Paul!!” - he mumbled as he, after putting a towel around his waist, opened the door and went into his bedroom.
Immediately he began to shiver.
"How cold!"
He quickly made his way to the window and closed it completely.
“Only I can think of leaving the window open in the middle of winter” - he muttered while taking out his clothes and changing
“Although ... I have to admit that, since several months already, my mind has been on something else..."
Finally, letting out a slight sigh, he sat on the bed. And, with a frown and a mindset on a girl barely dressed in a pair of transparent veils, he began to wipe his damp hair with the towel.
“This was something that Jax loved to do for me ...” - murmured the young man with a bitter rictus on his face
“Although I'm sure that now he has to be very busy with that ... that ... WOMAN! "
In a fit of rage, he threw the small towel on the floor while his gaze slid across the bedroom. Cole started to notice how the walls seemed to be getting closer while the room seemed to be smaller than before.
"Not again ...” - he pleaded as he squeezed his eyes shut and tried to leave his mind blank.
Finally, after a couple of minutes, he sighed while remembering the thousands of moments that he had lived inside that room with Jax.
After all, every corner of that room reminded him of Jax.
His Jax ... not the one who had returned from abroad a few months ago.
Neither the one who went to striptease shows and went out every day with a different girl.
That one was not his Jax.
After all that Jax, his boss, was not the same young man who had chased him for months, he was not the same one who had sworn to love him eternally.
Yes.
No doubt that Jax no longer existed.
That Jax was dead and buried ... and the worst thing was that it was himself who took care of that.
"But what could I do ...” - Cole told himself as he looked away and towards a portrait that was on his desk.
A portrait where he was standing next to a young girl with a child in her arms.
Cole sighed as he remembered one of the few times he had seen the young man after his wedding with Brie.
"He looked so happy with that girl ...” - he said to himself as he remembered the beautiful woman with whom Jax had attended Lexie and Will's wedding,
"while I ...".
゚・ 。゚ FLASHBACK ゚。・゚
The ceremony had been beautiful.
The couple, with faces full of happiness, greeted everyone as they began to walk towards the large room where the celebration was going to take place.
“Lexie looks happy ...” - said Evan who, sitting next to him, smiled slightly while looking at their friend.
Tess and Brian, who were right behind them, nodded while also looking at the place where Lexie was standing.
Suddenly, Cole observed how a young man who was accompanied by a beautiful redhead, hugged Will while saying something in his ear.
“0062 ...” - Tess whispered with a thin voice.
“Well, he looks pretty good...” - said Evan to immediately send a look full of concern towards Cole who, sitting still at his side, was getting paler with each second that was passing.
“How can he look any different than that, with such a gorgeous woman by his side!” - Brian exclaimed without taking his eyes from Jax's companion.
At least not until Tess, with a frown, gave him a nudge that made him let out a slight grunt of pain.
“Tess, What ...?!” - He began to say. However, he stopped as soon as he observed the look that his friend was throwing at him.
It was then that they turned towards Cole who, looking at his lap, smiled sadly.
“Boys ...” - he whispered with a thin voice
“Can you congratulate Lexie on my part? I think that I should go home already...".
“But...” - Evan said as he leaned over to see his friend's face “Are you sure?"
Cole nodded.
“I do not like letting Ellie alone with only my mom, she is still very small...".
Evan sighed but, looking towards the place where Jax was, nodded quietly.
゚・ 。゚END OF FLASHBACK ゚。・゚
Cole smiled sadly.
"And that woman had only been the first of Jax's lovers...” - he thought as he remembered some of the photographs that had appeared later in the magazines.
And the headlines ...
They left no room for doubt ...
The new conquest of our Gold Bachelor
Night of passion in that Romantic yacht
Yes.
No doubt Jax had overcome their break quickly.
"I'm the only i***t who has not done it ..."
“Daddy, are you sad?” - a voice asked from the doorway.
Cole turned immediately towards the door.
There, with a frown on her cute face, was the same girl that appeared in the portrait. Only much older and with her arms placed in jars, in a gesture very similar to that of her mother.
Yes.
No doubt children grew quickly, much more when they were just eight years old.
“Of course I'm not” - replied Cole while winking at her
”How can I be sad when there is a princess as beautiful as you with me?"
After which he began to pursue Ellie who, with little screams, ran around the room while trying to escape from his father.
“Do not run!” - said Cole while trying to catch the girl who, on the bed, laughed as she grabbed one of the pillows and placed herself in an attack position.
A few seconds later Cole had picked up another one and started a pillow fight in which, without a doubt, it was him who was going to lose.
Meanwhile, a figure was looking from one of the windows of his apartment.
That person, with an expression of anger on his face, was watching how a man was playing with his daughter while smiling and laughing happily.
"So first you sleep with that woman in our bed,” - he muttered as he turned around and closed the blinds,
"and now you play with your daughter over the quilt that my mother bought us as a gift..."
Jax clenched his fists.
No.
Cole did not deserve to be forgiven... not even now.
Much less now ...
“I'm going to make you regret your decision of playing with me ...” - he whispered as he turned around and walked away from the window
“I swear that to you, Cole Powell."
