Jax smiled at the waitress who, like every Thursday night, opened the door of the restaurant with a warm smile and a flirtatious gesture.
"She never gets tired of trying...” - thought the young man as he passed by and looked towards the table where, as every Thursday, he expected to find Paul and Em.
The three friends, since they had left the university, had the habit of meeting one day a week in a small but homely downtown restaurant. And, for several months already, the chosen day had been Thursday.
Only that... on that day, strangely, neither of them was in the cafeteria.
On the contrary.
As sitting at the table that they always reserve, was a young girl with an elegant dress and eyes that, as soon as they saw him at the entrance of the restaurant, began to shine with joy and excitement
What the hell...?
“Excuse me ...” - Jax said as he turned towards the waitress who was still near the front door
"I thought my friends and I had reserved the usual table...".
The young woman, with long black hair, looked towards the table they usually occupied.
A minute later, she returned her gaze towards Jax with a worried expression on her face.
“The lady came asking for your reservation, Mr. Singleton” - the waitress began to say while rubbing her hands against the apron in a nervous act
“we...".
However, the young man raised a hand and, with a slight smile, told her not to continue. That he understood what had happened.
Oh yes... he did understand what was happening.
"They have done it again ...” - he said to himself while, with a sigh, he approached the table,
"Didn't they learn anything from last time?"
“Good evening, Mr. Singleton” - greeted him the young woman as she got up and, with a gesture that pretended to be seductive, pushed her long brown hair from her bare shoulders.
“Good evening"
No.
Those two had not learned anything.
And to think that he had been clear enough already...

“I do not want you to do this ever again!” - exclaimed Jax as he left the house while closing the door with a slam.
Paul and Em looked at each other without saying anything while their wives, sitting on a nearby couch, watched the situation while shaking their heads.
“We had already warned you ... but you didn't want to listen to us” - May muttered while letting out a slight sigh at the stubbornness of her husband.
“Yes ... we already told you that Jax wouldn't like it at all!"
Both young men, reluctantly, lowered their eyes to their laps.
“We just wanted him to come out and meet new people ...” - Em whispered regretfully.
“Yes!” - exclaimed Paul
“And he also needs to get rid of the stress that he has since what happened with Cole"
His wife, immediately, gave him an angry look.
“I do not think Jax would be less stressed after discovering himself, suddenly, in one of those shows!” - Kat exclaimed as she shook her head
“I can imagine his face while seeing how all those guys were taking off their clothes on stage!"
“And the magazines ... look at the headlines!” - May continued, taking one of the magazines she had on the armchair and leaving it with a loud bang on the table.
"I can imagine what his family said after reading this!"
Heir Singleton, coming out of a striptease show
"But ... it's been eight years already and he's still the same!” - Em exclaimed as he looked at them with a desperate expression on his face
“and ... sometimes I do think that our Jax just already ... no longer exists ... I ..."
The girls sighed as Paul nodded curtly.
“In a bad hour he met Cole Powell!” - finally exclaimed the young man as he got up and went to the window.
After all, Em still could remember the expression of Jax's desperation.
How his eyes, in just a few minutes, lost all their shine.
"He no longer smiles as before ...” - he thought as he looked towards the street,
"as if something, inside him, had simply withered."
And all because of that senior.
That Cole!
"If only he had told him before ... if Jax had not found out the truth that way ..."
゚・ 。゚ FLASHBACK ゚。・゚
“Jax ...” - Cole tried to intervene.
However, the young man ignored him, and, dropping to his knees before all the people at the party, he bowed his face while the tears fell freely down his cheeks.
“Please, do not do this!” - Jax pleaded again while closing his eyes tightly
“Please, do not separate us".
Em and Paul, who were at his side with surprise faces, could only sit still. Looking at what was happening while watching as his friend remained in that position while Cole, with his eyes reddened but not letting go of a single tear, looked at him without saying or doing anything.
Finally, a few seconds later, he took a couple of steps towards Jax.
“I..."
However, a strong arm stopped him.
An arm that, abruptly, placed him next to a girl who was looking at Jax with a look of horror on her face.
“I'm sorry ... but my son is going to marry Brie” - said Mr. Powell in a resounding voice
“much more now that the young woman is going to give us the grandson we so much wanted"
