CHAPTER 19

ﾟ･ ｡ﾟ OFFICE BUILDING, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CITY ﾟ｡･ﾟ

Jax growled slightly as he walked around his office.

Since he had been informed that Cole had asked for the day off, he had not been able to think of anything else.

Could he be sick?

Or Could it be because of what had happened with the client?

"Maybe my idea of making him go to the restaurant with me was too much...” - he thought as he stopped near the office door,

"no ... I can not take it anymore ... I have to know what's wrong with him!"

So, with a determined gesture, he turned towards the door.

However, before his fingers even touched the doorknob, a few taps on the wood made the young man stop and, unlike what he had planned to do, got near one of the armchairs that were inside his office.

“Enter!” - He exclaimed as he placed his arm on the backrest of the armchair and adopted a more relaxed pose.

The door opened quietly and a young woman passed by, holding a notebook in one of her hands while greeting Jax as she left a fresh cup of coffee on the desk with the other one.

“Good morning, Janine."

“Good morning” - the girl replied as she took a pen from one of the pockets of her skirt and, as every morning, got prepared to wait for his orders of the day.

Jax sighed.

"It will be better to take care of this before going out..."

“Postpone my appointments for this afternoon and ... as for the issue of the defective machinery, it will be better to call the team of lawyers so..."

Jax stopped in the middle of the sentence, completely shocked at what had just happened.

As, through the door ajar and without any of them realizing it, had entered a girl who, without saying anything, had approached the young man and, with a seductive smile, had placed her lips on one of his cheeks.

"What the hell?!"

“Amy!” - Jax exclaimed, taking a couple of steps back and separating himself from the young woman who, with a giggle, turned around to sat down in one of the empty chairs.

“I... I'd better go” - murmured Janine as she bent over and then, almost running, left the room.

No sooner had the door closed than Amy began to laugh.

“Have you seen her face?!” - the young girl asked between laughter.

"The same one that I bet I have myself!” - Jax thought as he walked towards his desk and drank the coffee that his secretary had left there.

"Amy ... Can I know what you think you are doing?” - Finally asked the man with a frown on his face as he turned towards the girl.

Amy, still sitting in the armchair, was watching him with a mischievous and sensual expression that made him feel nervous.

“Well, what else... I am continuing with our little plan"

Jax sighed.

"This is exactly what I was worried about... of her doing whatever she wants to after last night's matter"

“The plan is for Cole to believe that we are together ... not for everyone else!"

Amy stopped smiling and, with a determined expression, got up from her seat to approach the young man.

“It seems that you have not taken into account that ... after those pictures in the magazines, everyone already thinks that we are lovers” - the girl reminded him as she put her arms around Jax's neck and slowly approached his face

“ and ... Don't you think it would not be such a bad idea? Especially after last night? "

Jax snarled and, leaving the cup of coffee on the table, laid his hands on Amy's arms making her let go of him.

The girl made a slight pout with her lips but said nothing.

“Amy ... we already talked about last night ..."

The young woman smiled ironically.

“You cannot tell me now that you are not interested in me ... not after what happened between us".

Jax sighed.

“I told you it was a mistake. I ... I only see you as a friend"

“But Jax ... we stopped being just friends at the same moment you put your tongue in my mouth” - the girl murmured as she took a few steps back towards him.

Jax, however, shook his head as he tried, unsuccessfully, to stay away from her while trying to find the perfect words to explain to the young woman that ... that everything had been a mistake ... something that should never have happened.

"But how ...” - he asked himself as he watched Amy's hopeful expression,

"How can I tell her that I just got carried away and that ... I could never give her what she is expecting from me?".

The truth was that... he had been thinking about the girl. In what she had asked from him just a couple of hours ago.

"An opportunity,” - she had pleaded with imploring eyes,

"Just allow me to conquer your heart."

Jax sighed.

My heart...

Give my heart... to her.

I am sorry Amy but... there is a little detail that made it impossible for me to fulfill your wish.

The problem ... The problem was that he did not have it with him.

His heart, like all those memories of his past relationship with Cole, had stayed in that apartment.

Inside those four walls where he had lived with the boy for years and where he.. he had also lived with his wife. With the mother of his only daughter.

“Amy ... I ..."

Meanwhile, sitting in an armchair that was in his living room, Cole read the messages of his workgroup without being able to believe what he was seeing.

“She ... She did spend the night with Jax ...” - he whispered with a thin voice

“They're together ..."

"Although I do not know what you're this surprised ...” - he reminded himself as he let out a chuckle, "you even saw them last night."

A new message arrived in his email account. One of the hundreds he had been receiving for a couple of hours.

Our boss has a new girlfriend !!

Guys, I just saw them together! And yes, they must be lovers as she even kissed him in front of me! ... it seems that someone has finally conquered our bachelor of the year!

The image of Amy, kissing Jax, immediately passed through the mind of the young man who, snapping his cell phone, got up and went to the sideboard where there were the few bottles that he still had left.

"I'm sorry Mum...” - thought Cole as he let out a tear of pain and helplessness,

"once again ... I am not able to keep my promise".
