Chapter Fifty Three - Darius the Giant

Darius was not a priest.  He was a former knight who was now employed as the bishop’s personal henchman.  He appeared to have been descended from a race of giants, as he stood head-and-shoulders above every other man.  He had an enormous square head that seemed to sit upon his wide shoulders without a neck, and big hands like paddles to a boat.  Because of his sheer size, he had trouble finding clothes that fit him, thus he always appeared like a child dressed in last year’s clothes.  His gut stuck out from under the hem of his too-short, too-tight shirts, and his breeches never made it to his ankles.  He was above all, a man who took orders and asked no questions – which is why he was indispensable to  Bishop Frasier.  The two of them, along with Edmund, went to the storeroom in the chil
