Chapter 6-The Morning After

I wake up groggily to my phone blaring and the sun directly in my face. Groaning I attempt to roll out of bed when I feel a very strong, masculine arm pull me tightly into what feels like a brick wall. Glancing around me I see Angel's mouth tugging up into a smirk as he nestles his face closer to me. He's definitely awake, I think to myself. My phone finally stops ringing so I flip my body around to face the beautiful man beside me and say, "Last night was a mistake, let me up before the staff finds us and starts spreading gossip like wildfire." Angel's eyes fly open and he gives me an incredulous look and huskily says, "A mistake? You weren't screaming that last night Vixen." I shake my head at him and start to attempt to untangle myself from his vice grip. He pulls me even closer and strokes my cheek beginning to speak again, "I don't know why you would ever say that Emilia. You know as well as I do that you are still very much in love with me. So there's no way you honestly believe what happened between us last night was a mist-". He's cut short by my phone blaring again. His eyes go dark as he glances at the phone on the bedside table. "Who in the hell is blowing up your phone this d*mn early? They've called atleast ten times!!" Ten times? I fling my hand backwards and grab the cell phone to check the caller ID. Sh*t, it's my father. I look between the still ringing phone and Angel. He reads th name and smiles, casually leaning back against the headboard and waves at me to answer the call. Hesitantly, I click accept. "Honey, what on earth is going on? I've been calling for an hour! I've tried your phone and Angel's! The maids said your bedroom door is locked and neither of you were answering your doors!" Oh my god, so now I have to come up with a convincing lie to tell my father. Because I d*mn sure can not tell him I'm currently sitting in bed with the man whose wedding we are so graciously about to host. "I am so so sorry Papa! I overslept because I got upset last night and had too much to drink! Ari and I split up and I was just so upset!" The stone cold statue beside me lets out a breathy chuckle and runs his fingers through his hair, looking like perfection. I quickly put my finger to my lips and give him a deadly stare. "Oh. My sweet Emi, that boy was not right for you anyways. Just let it go. I was calling to inform you and Angel that Gia will be arriving in the morning and I want you both to make sure she feels right at home. Also to let you know that I unfortunately will be away a bit longer than expected, I'm having some issues with one of the companies here. I'd really like for you to have Angel look over the files I sent to his email and have him responnd to me promptly dear." My father's response was pretty expected, even if it was a lie that I was upset he could've been a little less condescending about it. I quickly agree to pass along the information to Angel and get off the phone with my father. Why in the world does he need Angel's help with one of our companies? I could do just as much, if not more than Angel could to help. It doesn't make any sense. Yet, the sinking feeling in my stomach had nothing at all to do with the issues my father was having but everything to do with the fact that Angel's fiancee would be here in less than twenty four hours. Angel looks at me, waiting expectantly as I turn off my phone and place it back on the bedside table. Begrudgingly I say, "Your precious fiancee will be arriving sometime in the morning Angel. And my father has some files he would like for you to take a look at that he emailed over. Something about one of our companies that he's having some issues with." I cast my eyes downward and start to stand up out of the bed. Regardless of what had transpired between us the night before, reality had finally set in and Gia would be arriving tomorrow. I had to clear my head and pretend like last did not happen, as much as it stings to do so. Before I can get all the way off the bed, my wrist is ensnared and I am yanked back onto Angel's chest. I sigh and look up at him, my resolve very quickly diminishing. His eyes look haunted, like he had something he wanted to say but couldn't. He wraps his arms around my waist and places a kiss on my forehead gently before speaking, "Emi, I do not love her. It is strictly a conctractual marriage. Surely you must know that I would never marry a woman as disdainful as she. My heart still belongs to you. It always has. Her arrival does not change anything for me. Last night with you though, that changed everything. I was sure you hated me still for leaving you. You have to understand that, I did not want to. It was, it is, too complicated for me to explain." Pulling away from him I stare directly at him and ask, "Are you still going to marry her?" He solemnly looks back at me and whispers out some nonsense about how he "has to" marry her, it could not be undone. That was all I needed to hear. "You belong to another Angel. Please, keep your distance. I will not be known as the pathetic girl you tossed aside and I dam* sure will not be known as the girl you keep around as a side piece to your marriage, contratcual or not." And with that I stand, grab my cell and walk briskly to the bathroom door. Slamming it behind me for good measure before I sink to the floor and begin to silently cry.
