Adrienne pushed open the door to Lorenzo’s office and crossed the room before dropping onto the leather sofa with a soft thump. She stared up at the cream-colored ceiling, tracing invisible cracks that weren’t really there, letting her thoughts drift wherever they pleased. She didn’t even notice Lorenzo return at first. He came in carrying a paper bag and a neatly packed tray of Japanese sushi, setting it down on the coffee table with practiced care. The scent reached her a second later. She shifted slightly but didn’t move from her spot. He loosened his tie, then leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead, lingering just long enough to make her eyes flutter shut. “Do you want anything else?” he asked softly.
