Dimitri set the scissors aside on the nightstand and left the room without a word, the door clicking shut behind him. Adrienne let out a shaky breath, relief flooding her for a brief second. He was gone. Maybe this was her chance. Her gaze snapped to the leather restraints binding her wrists to the bedposts. If she could just loosen one, twist her hand free, or even break the buckle, she might slip away before he came back. She struggled immediately, fingers straining against the cuffs, searching for any give in the leather. She pulled hard, twisted her wrists, tried to dig her nails into the straps. Nothing.
