David and Miles tossed their bags into the back of Lorenzo’s van, lingering longer than necessary as they glanced toward the house, half-expecting to see someone appear. Minutes passed. The engine idled. They were just about to give up when the front door burst open. Adrienne and Zoe came barreling down the staircase, still in pajamas, their hair a mess, moving with the reckless urgency of people who had absolutely just woken up.
