Friday came in just a blink of an eye. I barely had time to prepare at all before the estate was suddenly swarming with people. Caterers, florists, decorators—everywhere I looked, someone was hauling in crates, testing lights, or barking instructions into a headset. My peaceful morning vanished in an instant. Hell, even my coffee started tasting like s**t. “Stop playing with your food.” Oh, right. I forgot he was here, too. I shoved a chunk of bagel into my mouth and chewed forcefully, hoping to send him a message but he just sat there staring at me, Cartier sunglasses covering his eyes that were no doubt judging me.
