Sandra's POV :
I glanced at the clock as I hurriedly applied my makeup. "It's 5 PM, I'm gonna be late," I muttered to myself as I finished applying my eyeliner.
"Sandra, why are you in such a hurry? What's going on?" Emily, my roommate, asked, her eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"I'm going to Jason's house. I want to surprise him by making him dinner," I said, spraying on my favorite perfume.
Emily's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "That's sweet, but don’t forget about the freshers’ welcome party at 10 PM. Will you make it back in time?"
I sighed, shaking my head. "I probably won't. I'll likely be staying over at Jason's place tonight."
Emily gave me a knowing look, her smile widening. "Alright, just don’t forget to text me if you change your mind."
I grabbed my bag and headed out, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Jason’s house was off-campus, a beautiful duplex with a well-manicured lawn and a sleek modern design. I often marveled at how lucky I was to be dating the richest and hottest guy at Stanford University.
As I entered his compound, I spotted his favorite car parked outside. "My baby’s around. I’m going to surprise him," I said to myself, smiling.
But as I drew closer to the house, I heard sounds that grew louder with each step. My heart pounded in my chest, a sense of dread creeping in.
"Oh my God, Jason, you are so gooood, harder, harder," a girl's voice moaned from inside the living room.
I froze, my blood running cold. Summoning all my courage, I pushed the door open and my worst fears were confirmed. Jason was on top of another girl, their bodies intertwined on the couch.
Jason looked up, his face betraying no remorse. "Sandra," he said flatly, as if I had caught him doing something as mundane as reading a book.
I felt a sharp pain in my chest, tears welling up in my eyes. Unable to speak, I turned and ran out of the house, my vision blurred by tears. My heart felt like it was shattering into a million pieces.
Back at the hostel, I collapsed onto my bed, sobbing uncontrollably. Emily rushed over, her face etched with concern. "Sandra, what happened? You came back so early?" she asked, wrapping her arms around me.
"Jason...he was with another girl," I choked out between sobs.
Emily’s eyes widened in shock, then narrowed in anger. "That bastard! How could he do this to you?" She hugged me tighter, her voice softening. "You don't deserve this, Sandra."
I sniffled, wiping my tears. "I don’t know what to do, Emily. I feel so broken."
Emily pulled back and looked me in the eyes, determination written all over her face. "Here's what we’re going to do. You’re going to dress up and wear something sexy. We’re going to the freshers’ welcome party, and you’re going to have fun. Forget about Jason for tonight."
I hesitated, still feeling the weight of the betrayal, but Emily’s resolve was infectious. "Okay," I whispered, managing a small smile.
Emily grinned, wiping away my remaining tears. "That’s the spirit. Let’s get you ready to knock everyone’s socks off."
Liam's POV:
"I don't like parties. My parents were always against me going to them,” I said, turning away from the conversation and jumping on the bed.
"Come on, man, it's just a party. Just a few drinks and some dancing. It's gonna be fun, Liam. Don't start acting like Mommy's boy," Jake said, rolling his eyes and giving me a playful shove.
"Leave him. He's a nerd, obviously. Let's get prepared, Jake. We're running late," Peter, my other roommate, said, his tone unfriendly and dismissive.
"Nerd? I'm not a nerd, I'm just an introvert...you know what, forget it. I'm gonna get prepared for the fresher’s party,"
I said, getting off the bed and heading to the bathroom.
"Now you're talking," Jake said, a grin spreading across his face.
We got to the party at 10:30 PM. The atmosphere was electric, with music blaring and colorful lights flashing everywhere. The place was packed with students dancing and chatting, the air filled with excitement and energy.
I found it difficult to blend with the style and atmosphere of the party, so I sat alone while the boys left me to socialize and dance with girls. As I watched everyone revel in the festive moments, we were all interrupted by an announcement.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special guest and senior student at this party! Let's welcome Jason Johnson, the hottest boy in Stanford University!”
The crowd roared, cheering as Jason walked in majestically with two other guys, everyone admiring them as they made their entrance.
"I have to leave, I have to leave," I said to myself as I stood up from my seat. I was scared of Jason after our first encounter. He had marked my face after the football fight, and if he saw me, he would definitely recognize and humiliate me again.
I found a spot to hide, hoping to avoid any confrontation. It was dark, but as my eyes adjusted, I realized I wasn't alone. To my surprise, I recognized Sandra hiding in the same place.
"Sandra! What are you doing here and why are you hiding?" I asked, my eyes wide with surprise.
"I actually came to this party to unwind. I caught Jason with another girl. I'm devastated. I needed to clear my head. I'm hiding because Jason showed up. I didn't expect that fool to show up at this party; it's for freshers, for God's sake,” she said, running her fingers through her hair, clearly distressed.
"But why are you also hiding here?" she asked, looking at me curiously.
"Uhmmm, nothing, nothing really serious, just forget about it," I said, trying to downplay my reason for hiding.
"You took some alcohol, right? Are you tipsy?" I asked, noticing the smell of alcohol on her breath.
"Uhmmm, yeah I did. I actually took a lot. I'm kinda tipsy and my head is spinning," she said, giggling.
She laid her head on my shoulders as we both watched the party continue, with Jason stealing the show as everyone admired him. The music played on, and the lights continued to flash, but for a moment, it felt like we were in our own little world.
It was getting late and cold, and our bodies together created a warm feeling.
"Can I kiss you?" Sandra asked suddenly, looking up at me with a vulnerable expression
I hesitated. "She must be drunk or something," I thought. "What about...Jason," I said slowly.
Before I could finish what I was saying, she placed her forehead on mine to initiate a kiss. Our lips met, and we kissed deeply and passionately as the night continued around us.
