Artik’s POV.
“You're my mate?!” Her sweet voice cracked with questions, making me freeze.
Her intoxicating vanilla scent lingered in the air, making my face morph with confusion though my nostrils still feasted on her scent.
That smell was warping my senses, making it uneasy to focus on the bike I'd been fixing. It literally had me running all the way from the club in the city down to the woods because I thought it was her.
My mate.
Could I even call her that? Recalling how she'd rejected me? Even though it'd been two years since Selina rejected me, I found it difficult to move on.
Selina was the only woman who was wild enough to stick with me, she understood me like no one else, and I was going to make her my Luna.
But on the coronation day, she ended up ditching me for a wealthy human.
“Unique bonding,” as she called it, but I knew it was more about status and power.
She shattered every atom of love in me. I could never look at a she-wolf the same after her. That led to my promiscuous lifestyle of sleeping with different women just for release, because I lost the will to give my all.
Only to get heartbroken again.
I led my biker pack with fear and violence because I had lost belief in love–thanks to Selina.
And after so many years, I perceived her scent again, though it used to be vanilla and rose, but I didn't want to take the risk of ignoring this vanilla scent. So I ran down here, hoping to plead with her for a second chance–yes, I was willing to beg even though she disgraced me.
But the person standing here looked nothing like Selina.
She was wearing black leather pants and a jacket, her hair was a mix of black and red, and she had the silver moon amulet hanging on her neck–telling me where she came from.
The Silver Oath Pack.
My hands clenched and unclenched as anger surged through me, my wolf pushing forward, growling in a way that made my eyes flicker red.
I moved closer to her, standing only an inch away from her and her scent still did things to me.
Why was I aroused by her?
Was it her scent that had been making me lose focus all this while?
Was it her feelings I could connect to while I thought it was Selina’s?
A lot of questions arose in my mind, questions I found no answer to.
“Step back.” She growled, but I stayed in my position.
The news of my bike being blown up by this lady came to mind and as much as I wanted to pin her to one of these trees and f*** her, I also wanted to crash her head into them.
“Look what we have here,” I grinned, peering over her like the dominating Alpha that I am.
But she didn't look afraid in the slightest.
“I said, step back,” she demanded, and scents of rage lingered in the air.
I curled a brow higher than the other, “Why the hell are you mad? I should be the one mad. After all, you caused me so much damage!”
She propped a hand on her hip, “Payback.”
I stepped back, infuriated by the way she shrugged after those words, like my bikes were pieces of trash that she had to take care of.
And the moment I stepped back, I noticed the red hue on her face that she tried to brush away by rubbing her cheeks.
Could she feel this strange heat too?
“Most likely,” my wolf purred, making my c*** twitch.
However, my jaws clenched, “You tend to cross the line, Alpha Ralia. And when I fight back, I'm the aggressive one.”
She hissed, glaring daggers at me, “If crossing the lines means stopping the death of humans, then so f**ing be it!”
This was why I hated their pack so much. Always protecting the same humans who were trying to wipe our pack from crazy experiments!
Killing the humans was our way of revenge, but only the moon goddess knew what the humans were doing for Ralia's pack, which made them so loyal.
It was disgusting.
“One day, you'll realize that the humans are just using you for their benefits. Their true colors will soon be out,” I stated, curling my fists.
“On the contrary, you guys are just sick f***s who find it difficult to live in harmony with humans!” She retorted, rolling her eyes.
That sent spikes of rage flowing through my veins, I charged towards her, invading her space until her body collided with a tree.
She gasped, her chest heaving, “You horny f**k. I'm not one of those women dying to have you. Get away from me!” she yelled.
Being this close to her made me hungry for her scent, my nose instinctively lowered to her neck, sniffing the part where her scent was strongest–her shoulders.
Then I quickly lifted my head, realizing I was feeding myself the wrong scent.
The scent of my enemy.
But why did it feel so right? Like she was the one for me?
Groaning, I tilted my head to face her and her breathless gasp told me she couldn't stop me because she loved what I did to her.
“You don't talk about my pack like that, or else I'll make you pay dearly.” I said, my voice low and dangerous.
She scoffed, launching her knee in my gut, sending me straight to the ground.
My wolf growled, and the loud cracks of my bones echoed in my ears as I shifted from the pain.
Ralia ran off, but her scent still turned me on.
I f***ing hated myself for that!
As my skin tore with thick, black fur ripping out of me, I grunted, shutting my eyes as the bone snapping slowly consumed my own body, making me howl.
Just then, the air in the woods grew colder, and the clouds grew darker.
The surrounding air whirled into a bright spot of light before me, making my wolf bow in submission.
I knew what was coming.
But I didn't understand why.
Just like I'd thought, the four elders trooped out of the light portal, standing in the air as their eyes flashed solar green light.
“When the soul of silver and the beast of iron unite,
The moon shall bleed, and peace shall shine in celestial light,
Two hearts thus become one, ruling with power and might. If two hearts separate with each of their peace, one’s breath will permanently cease.”
Their voices reverberated through my ears as the sharp smell of magic lingered in my nostrils.
They repeated the prophecy one more time, before disappearing into the light, restoring the woods to its previous light and calm.
I recalled the prophecy, mind linking my beta, who immediately replied with the meaning.
“It means you have to get married to Alpha Ralia, Leader of the Silver Oath Pack. And if you refuse, one of you dies,” he explained.
My lips curled up into a smirk, the elders have brought me the best way to ruin Alpha Ralia.
“Prepare for the marriage,” I replied to my beta through the mind link.
