What Happened To...Thomas Rogers?

1351 Words
The next day was Saturday, which luckily for me meant Rodney wouldn't wake me up in one of his crazy ways. I got up around twelve and when I had showered and gotten dressed, I ran downstairs for our 'Saturday Morning Feast' or for short 'SMF'. It was a family tradition that every other Saturday we would have a morning feast which consisted of bacon, sausages, omelets, bagels, French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, pop tarts and of course, love.

Good thing my mom was a good cook though, she always gets up at 7:30 am just to make this for us. I would help out but.....I need my sleep. I walk into the kitchen and sit at the table ready to demolish the food on my plate.
As we ate we chatted. "Al, we're going to the store." My Dad informed me.

 "Why?" I asked.

"We need some more marshmallows." He said. My Dad has always had a serious addiction to those, just another thing to add to his childishness. I sighed.

"Why me?!" I asked again.

"Because unlike Rodney, you can't be bribed with candy. If your father gets up to any trouble, I know you’ll tell me." My mother said pointedly.

"It wasn't just any candy, he got me skittles." Rodney defended. I got up and walked up the stairs.

I put on my black studded shorts and a purple tank top and slipped on my black summer wedges.

My Dad grabbed nine packets of marshmallows. One for every day of the week and two for luck. After paying, we headed out of the store.

I was thankful my Dad hadn't done anything crazy. As we left I bumped into something hard and I looked up to see Caleb.

 "Oh, hey Ally!" He greeted.

"Hey, wha-" I was interrupted by my Dad.

''Caleb! My man! How you doing?" He exclaims with a mouthful of marshmallows.

I turned red, my dad was so embarrassing, but I didn't think Caleb cared much.

"Mr. Knight!" He said giving my dad a man hug.

"Nah man, you can call me John." My dad told him. He grinned.

"Okay, John!" Caleb said.

My Dad's smile suddenly dropped. "What did you just call me?" He questioned with mock rage.

Caleb suddenly looked terrified. "Well... um... you-you said... I thought... uh.'' He stuttered.

I couldn’t help but burst out laughing when my Dad did. My dad always did stuff like that, it was funny to see people's reactions. I wouldn't blame them, my dad was 6’4 and his biceps were the size of my head. "I was kidding man!" My dad exclaimed.

Caleb immediately loosened up. "Whoa! You really got me there." He said.

"You-you should have seen your face! It was priceless," I gasped.

He scowled, "I wasn't even that scared." He said.

"Oh, you weren't?" My dad asked, standing straight, crossing his arms and flexing his muscles. Caleb backed up. Oh... well... uh...." Caleb trailed off, looking up at my dad.

"That's what I thought." My dad smiled

. I noticed a pair of eyes on me and turned to see no other than the sexy Thomas Rogers. He was leaning against a car and was staring intensely at me. My heart skipped a beat and I quickly turned back to Caleb and my Dad.

My dad came closer to me and whispered, "If that guy is making you uncomfortable then tell me and I'll straighten him out." My dad wasn't the best whisperer.

"You mean Thomas? He means no harm." Caleb waved off. My eyes widened. He knew Thomas?

"No harm, huh? Well, maybe I'll just make sure.'' My overprotective father said, turning to Thomas before I could stop him.

I was panicking inside; my Dad was just about to talk to my crush.

Caleb curiously walked closer to hear their conversation and I followed.

"Why are you staring at my daughter?" My dad asked sternly.

Thomas' eyes widened and he stood up straight. "Uh... I don't know." He shrugged.

My dad looked at him skeptically. "What do you mean you don't know, were you checking her out? Cause that was a little too long to be checking someone out." He stated.

At that Thomas' face grew red, my face grew red and Caleb laughed silently. My dad continued not seeing anything wrong with what he was doing.

"Do you have a crush on her? Do you think she’s pretty? Are you a stalker? Come on answer me-'' I had turned almost purple.

"Okay Dad, enough!" I interjected. He immediately shut his mouth. "We are going home, now take your marshmallows and get in the car," I ordered.

He didn't argue and he retreated quickly.

"Bye Caleb," I said following him.

I couldn't even look at Thomas after that.

I ran up the stairs keen on not talking to my Dad for a while. Marie had left earlier for home. I grabbed my phone, called her and explained everything that had happened that day.

"Woah," is all she could say.

I sighed, I couldn't blame her.

"I know right," I said and she paused.

"You have a guy friend, who you realized you have a crush on... your dad embarrassed you and another guy... who you also have a crush on, oh and their best friends! How absolutely messed up is that?" She ranted.

"Well, when you say it like that it makes it sound even more messed up than I thought," I said exasperatedly. She laughed. I pouted even if she couldn't see me. I'm sure if she was in this messed up situation she wouldn't be laughing.

"You know what you need?" She asked.

"What?" I asked immediately I definitely needed something to take my mind of this mess.

"You, my friend, need some ice cream!" She exclaimed. I smiled getting up.

"Meet you at the store near my house in ten," I said and she agreed.

I rushed out the door, as I pulled on my black leather jacket. I walked peacefully and waited for Marie at the entrance.

"Hiya!" She chirped. I spun around hugging her. She was in a good mood.

I pulled away from her, eyeing her suspiciously.

"What's got you in such a giddy mood?" I asked a little freaked out.

I had never seen Marie like this, she couldn't stand still in her black combat boots. She bounced on the spot and grinned widely. She giggled.

"There is something I need to tell you but... let's get the ice cream first." She said, pulling me into the store. I got Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream and Marie got the Bohemian Raspberry flavour, which was a good choice even though I prefer cookie dough. We paid for our ice cream and headed to my place.

We ran into my room after getting spoons. I wasted no time, "Tell me." I said. Whatever had gotten her in this mood came before my ice cream in this case.

"Okay, well for the past few days I haven't been around much, but not only because of my training," she started. I waited for her answer anxiously. "I'm dating someone." She said, grinning even wider if that was possible.

My ice cream and spoon fell to the ground. She had always told me that she wouldn't date, wouldn’t get a boyfriend, that she didn't believe in love... and now she was giddy because she was dating a guy.

I didn't know what to say. I felt kind of lame because someone who never wanted to date ended up doing it before me. Marie's smile faltered when she saw my expression.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

I sighed, this was the first time I had seen her this happy I wasn't going to ruin it.

I plastered on a fake smile, "Nothing, I'm happy for you," I told her. She smiled back softly unsure. "So who is he?'' I asked. That seemed to help her forget my previous state.

"I'm dating Randy!" She exclaimed, bouncing on my bed.
