Ally's POV
"What?" I exclaimed.
"I'm dating Randy." She said quieter, realizing I wasn't as excited as she was... at all.
I got up and started to pace.
"Seriously? You said that you would never see him as anything but a brother and you said you would never date." I said. She looked guiltily.
"I know I did but things change, with him it's different-" she started.
"Oh please, don't give me that crap," I snapped. She looked hurt. What right did she have to be hurt? I'm the one who should be hurt.
"How long have you been keeping this for me?" I asked with a mixture of hurt and anger.
She looked even guiltier.
"Ally, I'm sorry I should have to-" I stopped her.
"
Answer my question," I demanded.
She sighed, "Not long, he asked me that day you brought Caleb to check out the gym."
I remembered her talking to Randy while and I and Caleb waited outside and all those times she was texting and ignoring me she was probably talking to him.
No wonder she kept blowing me off and there I was, worried she was overworking herself because of the championships.
"You blew me off, ignored me and lied to me," I stated.
She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.
It may have seemed like I was overreacting but she and Randy were like my sister and brother, we never lied or kept anything from each other.
They kept this from me and I was so hurt.
"I think you should go," I whispered. She sighed and left slowly.
I was angry and upset and so I decided to do what any sane person would do when they needed to let off some steam. I played a violent video game.
Marie's P.O.V
I totally didn't think this through.
Of course, she would be upset, we lied to her. I should have told her, but I had a feeling she would react that way.
Today I was just too happy to think about it. Randy had asked me to be his girlfriend earlier!!! I had said yes and couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
I've always liked him, but I thought he saw me as a sister.
I was never happy when he told Ally and me about girls that he had liked or had dated or how good the date was (but I was always happy when it didn't work out).
That was one of the reasons I said I wouldn't date.
I didn't want to get hurt, but now I knew he liked me more than a friend. I needed to talk Ally and make everything right with her but I needed to let her cool off.
I headed over to gym as Randy would just be finishing his shift and would be taking me for ice cream. I saw Caleb on the way.
"Hey, Caleb." I greeted.
He turned to look at me as we stopped outside the gym.
"Oh hey Marie, what's up?" He asked.
I sighed.
"Well first off, Randy and I are together," I told him.
He looked very relieved which I was curious about but didn't push it.
"We didn't tell Ally because we all had brother-sister relationships and we didn't want her to feel left out. Then Randy asked me to be his girlfriend so then I was in a good mood and didn't think before telling Ally about Randy and me, then she got angry. I knew from the look on her face she felt left out too, the three of us have always everything together. I- I just don't know what to do." I rambled.
Caleb nodded and actually looked like he was listening, unlike most guys who were assholes.
"She just needs some time. It's weird having your two best friends dating. It's something you don't just don't see happening but I'm sure she'll come around."
I thought about what he said and he was right. I knew she saw us as brother and sister, having your brother and sister dating would be- you know what I can't even think about it.
"You're right Caleb, thanks." I smiled at him.
He smiled back and I hugged him to show my gratitude.
I heard someone clear their throat and I turned towards the entrance of the gym.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw it was my crush for more than seven years. He didn't look happy and I remembered I was hugging Caleb.
I pulled away and stepped back, smiling innocently at my boyfriend. He looked a little jealous which made me feel giddy.
Caleb shifted on his feet; it was clear he was uncomfortable.
"Well, I've got to go, glad I could help you, Marie."
He turned and scurried away.
"What was that?" My jealous boyfriend asked.
I giggled at how silly he was being; Caleb and I obviously had nothing going on, especially because even a dummy could see Caleb had a thing for Ally.
"That was me taking advice from my friend who you scared away with your death glare."
Randy huffed and grabbed my waist pulling me to his chest.
"I don't care who he is, you're mine and I will be the only guy touching you."
My heart fluttered when he called me his but being the stubborn person I was, I wasn't going to let him tell me what to do.
"Randy, you can't tell me what to do, I can hug who I want,'' I said crossing my arms.
He sighed, "Let's just go get ice cream." He said.
I smiled; he couldn't argue with me.
Back to Ally's POV
I heard my doorbell ring and rolled my eyes I really hoped that wasn’t Marie again or Randy or both together. Ugh.
“I’ll get it!” My Dad hollered. A few minutes later I heard footsteps come up the stairs. Someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” I mumbled. I turned to see my Dad.
“You have a visitor.” He said.
He stepped aside and Caleb walked in. “Hi.”
“Hi.” I smiled, pausing my game. My Dad left but made sure the door was slightly open.
"Keep this door open...I don't want any grandchildren yet." He said.
I cringed at what he was implying. “Dad please leave.”
I shook my head as I realized he was wearing a Dora The Explorer T-shirt, where he got one his size, I do not know.
After he left, I turned to Caleb. “What’s up?”
"I just wanted to see if you were okay.”
My eyebrows furrowed.
“I saw Marie and she explained what happened," he told me. I sighed, leaning back on my bed, Caleb sat across from me at my desk.
"I just don't know why they would lie to me like that, we're supposed best friends... brother and sisters... well we obviously can't be like that anymore."
I said running my hand through my hair.
"Think of it like this way; if they get married you will be their children's godparent." he tried.
I smiled at his pathetic attempt to cheer me up.
"Yeah, I guess it won't be that bad. It was nice to see Marie so happy." I said.
"Now you're getting into the spirit."
I laughed.
His eyes drifted to the TV.
"You play Call Of Duty?" he asked excitedly.
“Do you have a second controller?”
I grabbed the second controller from the ground and held it up to him.
She smirked. “Pull over that bean bag and let’s play.”
I played this game a lot, I knew I was going to whoop his ass.
“Ally, you’ve been best friends with Marie and Randy for a long time right?”
I nodded. “I’ve known Randy all my life and I met Marie in third grade.”
“Exactly. Look, you’re right. They should have told you straight away not only because you tell your best friends things like that but also because it was going to shift the dynamic of your friendship.”
“Yes! You get it! Not to mention the fact that she told me that she wouldn’t ever date and-”
“But,” he said interrupting me. “You can’t be mad at them for falling for each other. Stuff like this happens. They can’t help their feelings and their sure as hell not going to repress them for you.”
My eyes widened a little at his tone.
“Sorry if I’m being a little harsh but I’ve been in situations like these before. Don’t lose your friendship because of something like this.”
“You’re right,” I said reluctantly.
“I know.” he joked. “All that matters is that they both still love you. Okay?”
“Okay.” I nodded.
We played C.O.D. a few times until I had won more times than I could count.
"I win!" I shouted, jumping up and down.
Caleb grunted slumped in the bean bag.
"I told you I couldn't be beaten,” I stated arrogantly.
"Whatever," he mumbled.
I laughed.
