What Happened To...Walmart?

We all rushed inside. I was still thinking about the tingles I felt when Caleb touched me, but I pushed it to the back of my mind once I saw the glorious, creamy, delicious substance I was craving. I snatched a bowl of cookie dough ice cream and I immediately took a spoon, closing my eyes I let a moan escape my lips. I opened my eyes to see everyone staring at weirdly. Even Marie was giving me a 'what the hell' look and she knew how much I liked ice cream. I laughed nervously, realizing what I had just done was a bit weird and that that moan was pretty loud too. "What?" I asked through my mouthful of ice cream. I turned around and walked back outside. Soon everyone was outside enjoying the sun and our delicious ice cream. We listened to music as we laid on the beach chairs lazily. I sang along knowing my voice wasn't too bad to endure. When the song ended, Millie and Caleb clapped, as they hadn't experienced my awesome talent until before. I know, I'm very modest. "Ally-gator that was amazing! You should go on America's got talent!" Millie exclaimed. I smiled at her, shaking my head. We lounged around for a while after, but Caleb and Millie soon had to leave, so we said our goodbyes and headed back inside. My Dad came home from work shortly. "How was your day?" he asked, plopping on the couch. He started bouncing slightly, waiting for our response. He looked like a seven-year-old waiting for his birthday present. I chuckled at him; you see, my Dad isn't a typical Dad.... he tends to be really, really childish when he wants to be, which is almost all the time. He's even worse than Rodney sometimes. We told him about our encounter with Caleb and Millie and everything we did. I tried but failed to stop Rodney from telling my Dad about what I had done early in the kitchen. He laughed his ass off saying it was the kind of thing I would do. Shortly after, Mom called us for dinner. I loved my Mama's cooking, she could be a professional chef, even though she got stuck in the world of banking. She had made chicken teriyaki and rice. I stifled another embarrassing moan as the flavors of the dish glided down my tongue, and I relished the taste of it. My mom would make a lot more money if she had become a chef. "Mom this is amazing!" I tell her. She gives me a grateful smile as everyone murmurs in agreement. After drying the dishes, Marie and I make our way up the stairs. We talk for a while before my phone started ringing. “Who’s that?”Marie asked. I checked. “It’s Caleb.” “Dang. two times in one day? He must really like you.” I rolled my eyes and answered the call. “Hey, Caleb.” I greeted. “Hi!” He replied. “Just wanted to say thanks for today.” “Aw, no problem. I had a good time.” “Me too,” he said. “So what are you up to?” I asked “Just talking to a pretty girl” he chuckled. I gaped at the screen of my phone before pressing it back to my ear. He was just joking....right? I laughed awkwardly. “Is there some girl your with right now that I don’t know about?” He chuckled. “I was talking about you.” I gape at the screen once again, blushing. HE'S JOKING RIGHT?! My stomach began to flutter uncontrollably. Not knowing how to reply, I changed the subject. “So, how's Millie?” “She's good, she really likes you, she won't stop talking about you and Rodney to my Mom.” “Awe that's nice, I really like her too and I'm very sure Rodney does.” “Me too, I-” I heard someone call his name in the background. “My mom needs me, I gotta go.” “No problem, talk to you later.” “Bye!” I hung up, ready to sleep. I looked over at Marie to see she was dozing off with her phone still held firmly in her hands. I rolled my eyes before walking across the room to the airbed she was sleeping on and pried her fingers off her phone. I set it beside her and pulled her comforter up to her neck, then went back to my side of the room and dived under my covers, drifting off to sleep. *** "Wake up, shake your booty! Wake up, shake your booty!" Was what I heard as I woke up. I opened my eyes to see my brothers 'booty' in my face. "Ew. Rodney did you just fart in my face?!" I exclaimed as I sniffed the air and breathed in a disgusting smell. He stopped dancing, turning around slowly. He smirked at my disgusted expression. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't." He said, slowly exiting the room. I rolled my eyes groggily at my brother's antics, getting out of bed. Marie wasn't there so she must have gone to the gym. I took a shower, taking longer than usual. I checked my phone to see I had taken 10 minutes. that was a new record for me but Rodney had woken me up too early. I got changed into some faded jeans, a white print shirt and my white vans. I ran down the stairs and almost crashed into my Dad. "Hey Dad, why are you here?" I asked him, kissing his cheek. He chuckled. "So you don't want me around?'' He asked, putting a hand to his chest in mock hurt. I laughed. "I got a day off," he explained. I nodded my head as I walked into the kitchen where Rodney was finishing off his cereal. My Dad trailed after me. "Do you know what that means?" he asked. "What?" Rods and I asked in unison, except mine was bored and he was excited. "I'm going to follow you wherever you go today!" He said. "YAY!" Rodney exclaimed and jumped off his stool to hug Dad. I rolled my eyes and walked around the counter. I kissed my Mom on the cheek and grabbed an apple. When Mom had finished making Rodney's lunch, we headed out. My Dad and Rodney raced down the road and I shook my head. How could he be a father? "Guys slow down!'' I said, trying to fast walk along the path. "Come on Al," Rodney said. "No!" I said. "Oh come on Al, don't be such a buzzkill!'' My immature Dad shouted. I rolled my eyes and jogged up to them. We arrived at the daycare and we're walking through the halls when I heard my name. I turned to see Caleb and Millie trying to catch up. I came to a stop and so did Rodney. "Millie!" he said as he let go of my Dad's hand and hugged her. "Awe!" I couldn't help saying, earning the attention of Caleb and my Dad. "Hey Caleb," I said. He smiled, "Hey Ally." There was an awkward silence where we just watched Rodney and Millie speak to each other animatedly. My Dad cleared his throat. "So, who's this?" He asked, referring to Caleb. Oh, he wanted me to introduce them. I'm never good with these things. "'Oh, eh this is Caleb, my friend," I told him, gesturing to Caleb. My Dad raised an eyebrow, he knew I wasn't too good with boys. "Okay, nice to meet you, Caleb, I'm Ally's Dad, John." He said, holding out his hand. Caleb grasped it firmly and shook it. "Nice to meet you too sir." He said and pulled his hand away. Millie crashed into me, almost knocking me over. "Ally-gator!" She exclaimed. I laughed before I hugged her back. We all headed to their class where Terry was giving out their coloring books. She came up to us. "Hiya guys!" She exclaimed. She hugged Rodney and Millie as they ran to their seats. "Hey, Al." She beamed, squeezing me. I groaned, prying her hands off me. Once I got her off me I bent over trying to regain my breath. I looked up to see my Dad and Caleb laughing. I glared at them and they both stopped immediately. I smirked, I had been working on that glare. "Oh John...lovely to see you," Terry said looking disappointed. My Dad stood up straight. "Well Theresa, I wish I felt the same way." My Dad said with a fake smile plastered on his face. I gasped. "Dad!" I yelled. They've hated each other ever since they met. My Dad had been racing down the hall with Rodney and knocked Theresa right off her feet. He laughed for almost fifteen minutes because when she fell she had shouted, "n*****s!" My Dad then got a lecture from her about how childish he was and how 'n*****s' was the first thing that came to her mind. My Dad rolled his eyes at me. Theresa grunted. "Hey Caleb, it's nice to see you again but if you'll excuse me I have a class to get to." She was about to turn away when my dad shouted, "n*****s!" I couldn't help myself and I laughed until my sides were aching and the look on Caleb's face made me laugh harder. He looked bewildered at the fact my Dad had said that. Theresa was red in the face, glaring at my Dad, who was also cracking up, and I. Once I was sobered up I wiped I tear from my eye. "Terry I am so sorry for my Dad's childish behavior and for laughing at you, but I couldn't help it." I started laughing again before she could respond. "But why shout n*****s?" I asked, shaking my head in confusion while trying to stop laughing. It was really weird but just the thing Terry would exclaim. My dad leaned against the wall wheezing from laughter at my question. Terry grew even redder. ''IT. WAS.THE. ONLY. THING. I. COULD. THINK. OF!" She exclaimed, exasperated. She turned around and walked away. I sobered up once again and turn to Caleb who looked really confused. I explained the story to him of how my Dad and Theresa met. He cracked up to and when we had all stopped laughing, we left. "To Walmart!" my Dad exclaimed and started marching down the road. I sighed; why couldn't I have a normal father? I turned to Caleb who was staring at my Dad, he seemed amused. "Sorry about my Dad, he's like a five your old stuck in a man's body," I explained as my Dad continued to march down the road saluting people he passed. Caleb laughed. "I can see that but he seems pretty cool. Can I tag along?" I nodded and we followed my Dad. Once we got there my Dad got a cart. He jumped into it and looked at me. I sighed and began to push my Dad into the store. Caleb started to laugh again and helped me push my Dad. As we walked along, my Dad grabbed stuff that we needed and placed them around him. We earned a lot of weird looks but I was used to it. As we walked, we accidentally dropped a few packets of crisps on the ground. Caleb and I bent down and picked them up. I heard a scream and turned to our cart to see a small boy had pushed it down the aisle....with my Dad in it. The scream had come from no other than Michelle Hardley, Queen Bee. I looked to Caleb and we both sprinted down to the cart before it hit Michelle. I lunged for the handles and grabbed and so did Caleb shortly after me. We managed to stop it. My Dad was laughing at Michelle who looked like a deer caught in headlights and had a packet of facial wipes gripped tightly in her hands. I whacked my Dad upside the head. "Ow!" he exclaimed. Almost everyone in the store was staring by now and some teenagers were even videoing it. I glared at my Dad. He sighed and got out of the cart, still rubbing his head and pouting. "I'm sorry for almost running you over." He said to Michelle. She nodded and almost sprinted away. I sighed as the crowd around us dispersed. "Dad! Why can't you act your age for once?'' I asked. He gave me an innocent smile. "I-" he began but I caught him off. "I'm telling Mom no matter what you say," I told him. "No!" he exclaimed. "I'll buy you ice cream," he tried to bribe. I was almost tempted to say yes but I knew my Mom would do better. "Nope," I told him and began to push the cart down the aisle. My Dad didn't stop bugging me until we got to Mom's car and she had come to get all the groceries and stuff. We loaded them into the car. I quickly explained to my Mom what happened in the store and she glared at my Dad. He gave me a look of betrayal as my Mom pulled his ear and almost dragged him into the car. I smirked as I heard the cry of my childish father. It was time to go pick up the kids when we were done so Caleb and I headed over.
