720 Words
The house was massive. It wasn’t even a house. It was a mansion. “ Jacob did you already buy this?” she looked back at him. “ I did, but I really want to see if you like it or if there’s something you think I should change before I move in.” “ I doubt there’s anything that needs changing. It looks extremely well remodeled.” he chuckled “ I mean something changed more to your taste not because something’s outdated.” Amber’s frugal self could not believe what he just said. As I rolled up to in front of the house, he put it in park. He comes around and opens the door for her again. As they walk through the door, nothing but marble and ivory. Everything about this house looked expensive. Jacob let her around the house showing her the kitchen, the dining room, the living room room what will be his office. Then they made their way upstairs, going from bedroom to bedroom. The next bedroom they come to is the master. It had a huge four poster bed with vaulted ceilings. We got to the closet. It was a huge walk-in closet shelves more than enough room for both their clothes. It went right into the master bath. Had a huge Jacuzzi tub and a big walk-in shower. Amber can say a word the whole time. When they came back into the master bedroom, Jacob comes from behind and wraps his arms around her. “ what do you think?” it took her a minute, but then she said. “ it’s beautiful. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.” With her answer, he squeezed her tighter. “ i’m glad I think so. I don’t think I could’ve bought it if he didn’t like it.” then she turned around and gave him a big kiss. They walk their ways back out to the car. when Jacob drove her back home and walked her to the door “ I hate saying goodbye to you.” “ I know I hate saying it back. But I have work tomorrow, so do you and I think we can make it till Friday night without having a complete withdraw.” she said with a chuckle. Lean down for one last kiss before he left. She walks back in to her house and then she turns left and see a picture of her Steven. This house wasn’t fancy, but it was good to them. She was happy no marble or ivory, but it was hers and his. All the memories started flooding back ones of them, laughing and chasing each other around the house, making love on the kitchen counter. All those years of marriage of loving each other. There was in the guilt. The guilt of moving on the guilt feeling the way she feels about Jacob. She even calls herself vein in her head for ogling over that house. And just the tears started falling. Once they start, they are pretty hard to stop. What seems like an hour she finally slowed down long enough to get her up into the kitchen and grabbing a bottle of wine. She got about halfway through the bottle when she decided to stop. She corked it and went and got in the shower washing off all the guilt. She thought she had to feel she scrubbed to her skin was almost raw. when she thought she had scrubbed enough, she finally got out. She went and sat down on the couch after getting her silk nighty on side to eat half a tub of ice cream. After almost putting herself into a sugar coma, she shut off the TV and got up to get ready for bed. After brushing her teeth she climbed into bed into her warm, soft sheets. As she laid there, looking at the ceiling, she thought to herself that she was going to be OK. The gilt will get less and less. till eventually there will be none. she’ll never forget Steven or even stop missing him. One morning she’ll wake up and she’ll realize it doesn’t hurt as much. And the scabs have hardened turned into a scar. Whether it’s carpet and drywall or marble and ivory, wherever she lives, it will be home.
