Chapter Twenty-EightThe following evening, Ruth stood near Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park. She turned at the sound of footsteps on the path then winced as her ribs complained about the movement. The doctor told her she’d be uncomfortable for several days. Uncomfortable didn’t begin to describe the pain. The man had obviously never suffered broken ribs. The bandage wrapped around her middle seemed to be of little help. A young woman attired in a rust-colored suit hurried past. Just like Varis would wear. Varis. What was she up to? Ruth sighed.
