After a sleepless night during which she alternated between fuming at Varis’s captor and crying, Ruth’s eyes were gritty and burning. Trevor needed to hear about this latest development. She should have called him last night, but there was nothing he could have done. “Development, indeed. More like a nightmare.” Ruth whirled and threw the paper at the coffee table. “Hang in there, Varis.
