A boring first day

Another day after touching her mother’s feet, she pulled her bicycle out of the house, she sent a message to her teachers about the situation and her job. Now that she was the only one handling all the matters.

“About the police station, we will try reaching by 4.30,” Her mother mentioned as she bit her lip.

“I am not off work until 6, how do we handle it?” She asked.

“I will try to leave early okay?” She said with a small smile before leaving her home on her bicycle.

. arriving at work at 9 sharp, She sat on the chairs kept there, she was nervous, it was her first day, She greeted her colleagues, the same two ladies who were there yesterday, life never felt more baring in the moment of waiting, it was almost 11 and she did not have any work to do.

She was not instructed to do anything until the bosses arrived, she had checked her phone twice, had the office phone on charge, and tried reading her book, on working on one but the jitters with boredom, and this was not a great concept now, was it?

It was sudden how the door opened when she was looking at her phone and he entered. There was something with the energy he carried, today it spoke something.

“Good morning, sir,” She said as she tried to stand but he just nodded at her and before she could ask away anything else, He went to his cabin.

Her gaze did not have off him, the entire time.

“Office starts at 9, but he always arrives 2 hours late,” She heard Preeti say to the other girl.

“All of this attitude will be fixed when the sales report is demanded by the owner,” The other lady, whom she was yet to get the name of, said with a smirk as she dialed a number on her phone again and started speaking to one of her friends.

‘Are they here for work? What is their designation?’ Anushka thought to herself as she looked at both of them before a bell rang all of a sudden.

She looked at Preeti who mentioned her to go to his cabin.

“Ohh,” she got up, and fixed her clothes a little before walking to his cabin.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on it twice before she walked in. he was again looking at his phone,

‘What is in that phone, that he always keeps looking at it?’

“Okay, so any interviews lined up for today?” He asked her.

A slight shiver went down her spine as she nodded and wetted her lips before speaking, “Yes, two are lined up, sir, they are going to be here in 20 minutes,” She answered with as much as confidence she could find in herself.

“Okay, when they arrive get me their CVs okay?” He instructed, maybe somewhere he did understand, they and to train her in everything because she was too new to all of this.

“Okay, anything else,” She looked at him and added, “Sir,” the slight tug did not miss the something in her eyes as he shook his head and looked at his phone, she walked outside and waited for the candidates to arrive, it was a new office, no IELTS students or PTE students were there.

The office was unusually empty, she had not seen Abhinn today as well.

“Anushka mam,” A voice pulled her out of her thoughts as she turned to look to her left.

“In the cabin please,” He said as she nodded, “Hnji?” (Yes) she asked as she stood in front of him, he handed her the CVs and said to put them in the resume file.

“Where will I find the file?” She asked taking the papers from his hand.

“The Drawer beside the reception desk, ask Preeti's mam, she will tell—“ Even before he could complete his words, the door of the cabin opened as Abhinn sir walked in, she greeted him with a nod before she was asked to walk outside and do her job.

Another hour went out like this, both of them were now in Abbhin’s cabin, the one identified at the last.

“When is lunchtime?” she asked Preeti feeling hungry, her BP should not be dropping on the very first day of her job.

“Well, we take lunch around 3 but if you are hungry, you can have lunch in the cabin, no one’s stopping you,” Preeti said as she nodded taking her lunch box, her mother packed for her to the cabin and had her lunch.

She had just returned after washing her hands as the cabin door opened as she looked at him, he gave out a small smile as she moved a few steps back. The tension is clearly visible.

“You had your lunch?” He asked as she looked at her slightly wet hands.

“Yes, just now,” she replied. The rest of the day was just a bore as she sat around but her anxiety peaked when it was close to 4.

She had received her mother’s call earlier stating she was off on her way to the police station. She knew she had to seek permission to leave early but it was her very first day, and the last thing she wanted was to leave a bad impression on the boss on the very first day.

But this had to be done, she couldn’t leave her mother like that.

Knock knock

She pushed the door inside as her scared gaze dropped on him.

“Umm… sir I have to leave early today,” There, she finally put her words in front of him as he stopped typing on his phone.

His eyes held questions like ‘For what?’

“Umm… My dad’s reports just came, and his back is fractured, I would like to take an early leave to help Mom take him back to the house and handle everything,” I stated as he looked at me for a second.

The door of the cabin opened as Abhinn looked at both of us, “what happened?” He asked.

“Umm… Her father’s backbone has a fracture, she needs to leave early today,” He summarized my words in his own before presenting them to Abhinn.

“Oh… umm, sure,” Abhinn said as she looked over at Dinesh.

“Okay then,” He said as she walked outside to collect her things, she dialed her mom and informed her that she was reaching out to deal with that fucker who stole money from companies in her name. If she could go ahead and kill him with her bare hands she would have, until now.

“Alright then, good evening,” This was her way of concluding her day to everyone around her as they looked at her.

There she left to become a nightmare to someone who deserved it.
