CHAPTER 4 Moonrise showdown Lucan POV

The creature made a loud noise and scattered everywhere, it was scattering the bed in which we were underneath,

We summoned the courage and stood up to fight, dragging his feet as Ember attacked from his head, it was a rare ancient beast.

We fought with all strength and agility in us thereby prevailing against it.

We then went together and reported the near-death experience to the Alpha.

"Describe the beast." He said.

" It was huge and tall, it had four eyes and two horns and it had more supernatural abilities than a normal animal creature." Ember responded.

" It was mahuli, mahuli is an ancient beast that hunt special werewolves, it can perceive their scent from a distance and will locate them through it's heightened senses." Alpha said.

" But father, we have never seen this beast attacking us before." I said.

" Well, it was Ember's presence that made it come to attack her." Alpha replied.

I remembered that when we were fighting the beast, it was actually facing Ember, not me.

" Me? I've not seen that horrible creature before, why me?!" Ember said fearfully.

" Mahuli couldn't attack in your woods due to the werewolf hunters in your place, it could stay here because werewolf hunters don't come here, mahuli is not one actually, they are many and will keep coming for you." Alpha said.

" But why? Why do they want me dead?" I did nothing to them." Ember said.

" I know, but you are a special werewolf different from others, your birth has mysteries within and you have a hidden identity. You can only be safe as long as you remain with us here and stay amongst the pack members." Alpha responded.

"Who am I?" Ember asked.

" You will get to know yourself, time will tell. Till then Lycan protects her with all your strength." The Alpha ordered me.

" Yes Father, I will protect with all I have." I said happily. It was an avenue to show my powers and prove that I have feelings for Ember.

Time passed by as we relaxed in the woods, until the Alpha summoned me to a private discussion.

" Lycan, don't you think it's the best time to attack Ragnar's pack, they're not prepared for a war at this moment, they will still be celebrating the moonlit ritual." Alpha said.

" Yes father, it's high time we attack." I responded.

We summoned other pack members, I explained to Ember and she consented.

As she gave us easy routes to navigate through Ragnar's pack, I was bittered and ready to kill anybody for the death of Alpha's son.

The Alpha was fully charged and about to revenge his son's death too.

We finally got to the woods of Ragnar's pack, preparing for a showdown beneath the ominous glow of the full moon. There was tension as everyone's eyes were filled with determination and cruelty.

As the moon reached it's zenith, we unleashed a chorus of howls signaling the beginning of a long-anticipated battle.

" Attack!! " I screamed as Ragnar's pack became alert and started running towards us.

Claws clashed, hairs flew as we engaged in combat, loyalty and vengeance fueled every strike as the pack fought with unyielding desire to establish dominance.

Amidst the chaos, Ragnar called Ember so loudly that the pack monetarily halted and their attention was on Ragnar.

" Did you bring them here?" Why did you betray us?" Ragnar said to Ember.

" I'm sorry Ragnar.. I didn't mean to, your father made me do this." Ember responded.

" So after what I did, you choose to betray me and bring our enemies to attack us unexpectedly?" Ragnara's dad said angrily.

" Why did you kill Alpha's son?" Ember asked Ragnar's father.

" They told you that? It was a battle not a personal fight, it was something like this Ember, don't let them brainwash you." He said.

" Brainwash? You killed my son, you sent her out of your pack exposing her to dangers just because she fell in love with your son. Is love a crime? You are heartless. My dad, our Alpha said.

At this point the two Alphas faced each other exuding authority and strength. Ragnar looked at Ember with a disappointed countenance but there I was happy.

"Ragnar they said I am a special werewolf, why didn't you or your dad tell me? They said a creature named Mahuli will keep hunting me till I die and I almost lost my life not for Lycan who fought alongside me." Ember said.

"Really? Mahuli? I haven't heard about that before, they are lying to you Ember." Ragnar said.

"Stop all these conversations and let's kill these people, they are worthless and worth dying." Kristen, who exposed Ember, said loudly.

We made charge towards them to continue the fight as another mahuli came running towards Ember. Everybody shifted focus to the creature as they fought against it in order to protect Ember.

We killed the mahuli in unionism and continued fighting as Ember stood at our back.

" Can you see mahuli now? You idiot." I said looking at Ragnar.

" I….. I…don't…" Ragnar stammered.

" Just shut up, you kept her identity secret and now we told her, she is only safe with our pack and you all deserve to die. " I said

"I thought you said mahuli can't come to this place Lycan?" Ember asked me.

" They have heightened senses so they knew that the werewolf packs were fighting and it was an opportunity to strike, they can smell you miles away and their speed is ten times ours.

When our Alpha finished talking, we attacked again and fought tirelessly, it was a fierce fight because both packs were strong and agile.

A few moments later, three mahuli came for Ember again.

We fought with all our strength, the mahulis were very strong and huge. The mahuli had wounded Ember already when we killed them.

" Ember is wounded, are you happy now?" Ragnar asked me.

" Shut your mouth." I said moving towards him.

Ragnar used his supernatural speed, he took Ember away into their woods indoors.

His father and everyone also dispersed using supernatural speed. We didn't see it coming, as they chanced us unexpectedly.

We tried pursuing them but a witch amongst themselves had created a barrier, so we couldn't enter their domain.

" This is war!" our Alpha said.

We retreated back into our woods leaving without Ember.

We were very angry, we were so bitter and were going to get revenge as this is just the beginning of the war.

Our Alpha knew a witch who could break that barrier, she lived in the heart of a dense mysterious black wood forest, he had explained everything to her and she was willing to help.

Amelia had been a long time friend to Alpha, he then brought Amelia to the pack members so she would go together with us and confront the witch in Ragnar's pack.

" Let's go there now!" Amelia said.

We went with desperation and determination to kill as we finally arrived there. We saw that the barrier was still there, Amelia used her extensive knowledge as she crafted a spell that weakened the barriers protecting Ragnar's domain.

As the incantation echoed throughout the woods, the barriers trembled and we're about to lose.

Ragnar's pack howled loudly throughout the forest as they were sensitive to the breach of the barriers.

This captivated the attention of Glinda who was attuned to mystical current as she sensed intrusion on the barrier she had made, as she came to challenge Amelia.

Amelia and the other witch fought themselves with magical spells and elements as we watched.

The powerful witches found themselves locked in a fierce battle, their sparks collided causing sparks in every direction.

Amelia had silver hair and blue eyes, she specialized in elemental magic, she accumulated the winds and waves of water to overcome Glinda's spell. The forest shook around them due to the intensity of their magical duel.

We were all watching as Glinda called upon the energy of the earth causing everywhere to tremble like an earthquake, Amelia used a necromantic energy and distracted her enemy.

As the moon reached its zenith, Glinda and Amelia used their most potent charm as the atmosphere was filled with magical tension as the witches engaged in a display of sorcery.

Amelia made a surge of raw, chaotic power causing the barrier to ripple and strain, it created a way we could pass into Ragnar's domain as we took advantage immediately.

" Let's go get Ember." I said to my pack members

" Get Ember for yourself and get Ragnar for me." My dad, our Alpha said.

We fought extensively as we divided ourselves into two groups, the first group was to get Ember and the other group was to find Ragnar.

" Where can Ember be? What could they have done to her?" I thought as I searched for her alongside my pack members in their territory.

We found Ragnar hiding in a corner as he was alone, so we attacked him and were able to apprehend him.

" Where is Ember?" I asked him.

" I'm never going to tell you where she is!" Ragnar responded.

I gave him a punch on his cheeks and beat him yet he still refused to talk.

Other pack members fought with each other but we didn't see their Alpha, definitely he was with Ember somewhere. Maybe dead or alive we don't know exactly.

We took Ragnar as a captive since we couldn't get Ember.

" We will use you as a scapegoat, if your father wants you then he should release Ember to us otherwise you will die. Your father killed my son and I won't hesitate to kill you." My dad said.

We caught Ragnar's pack member and almost killed him but we spared him and told him to deliver the message to their Alpha.

The witches had fought a bloody fight and were both dead, some of our pack members were dead and also some of Ragnar's pack members.

Is Ember dead? Where is she? Is Ragnar going to confess or die by our hands?

This was just the beginning of the moonlit betrayal, a story of love, betrayal, rejection and revenge.
