Chapter 2

They clinked their glasses together and Adrian couldn't take his eyes off Lena’s lips, the way she brought the glass up to her red lips and took little sips of her drink, Adrian knew she was teasing him. “Are you here alone?” Adrian leaned closer and asked. “Well yes, but I'm not so sure I'll be leaving alone now.” She answered in a low, playful voice. “That kind of talk will only get you in trouble.” He warned her. She raised her head and looked into his eyes, “That's good, because I like trouble.” She commented. The energy between them was charged and they were both feeling it. They ordered a few more drinks before Lena asked, “Do you dance?” “I can move but I assure you, I'm much better with my hands than my legs.” He whispered to her and if not for the bar Lena was leaning against, she would have fallen straight to the floor. His words had made her weak in the knees. She placed her hands in his extended own as well and they both stepped onto the dance floor. The music was faster now, giving them the perfect excuse to press their bodies against each other, till they were only a breath apart. His hands slowly made their way all over her body till they rested just above her waist while she entangled her hands behind his neck. For every move Lena made, Adrian matched, they were in complete sync, almost like they were reading each other's thoughts through their movements. “You're not so bad a dancer.” Lena said as she pushed herself closer to him, brushing her lips against his ears. “I've told you, I'm much better with my hands.” Feeling more confident, “I think we should find a place to test that.” She said and brought herself more closer to him till there was no space between them again. Adrian knew he was playing a dangerous game with this strange woman but he couldn't bring himself to stop, he was attracted to her more than he could describe. Her last words had left him wanting more and before he could give it a second thought, he answered her, “Just say the word.” Lena didn't say the word, she kissed him instead. The kiss a deep, slow and hungry one and everything else around them melted away, the crowd, the lights, the music, everything all faded away. They pressed even closer to each other, with Lena’s body fitting into his own like it had always belonged there. No one remembered how they went from drinks to laughter to dancing to the hotel room filled with their moans and sweat. They couldn't keep their hands off each other and their clothes that littered the floor of the room was enough proof of their impatience. Adrian slowly traced his fingers down her spine, watching her shiver under him, “Do you still like danger?” He asked, his voice rough against her skin. “I crave it.” Lena answered breathlessly as well. The rest of the night was filled with passionate love and Lena forgot all about her problems and Jason, she spent the night in bliss in the arms of a perfect stranger. The hot rays of sun peeking from behind the curtains woke Lena up the next morning and she found herself naked in an unfamiliar bed, with her head pounding from the alchol and her body sore from the night before. Memories of last night flashed across her face and she looks beside her to see Adrian still fast asleep, also naked as well. Without wasting anymore time, she quickly dressed up and sneaked out of the room, too ashamed to face Adrian or Jason after all that happened. Lena gets on the next flight back home without informing Jason or without going back to the hotel room to get the rest of her belongings. Lena didn't realise while leaving on a hurry that she had left behind her priceless necklace which her grandmother had given to her. She also didn't know that Adrian was awake the whole time before she had left their room. Adrian was so sure Lena had been one of those women who only approached him because of his money or because the media had sent them so they get dirt on him. So he had his guard up the entire night but he was surprised when Lena woke up and left the next morning without taking anything from him or without a single word too. He was curious about her but the only thing he knew was that her name was Lena. Adrian was curious and he would do everything in his power to find her, this was just the beginning. Lena had put the wild night she had spent in Las Vegas far behind her, although she couldn't forget Adrian and the electrifying night they had spent together. Her mind just couldn't help but wander back to Adrian, she tried so hard but she couldn't just get his touch, his mesmerising eyes and his voice out of her mind. She knew she wouldn't experience something like that anytime soon again, so she just decided to focus on her work and put the past behind her. It was just one drunken night afterall, little did she know now that, the drunken night would change her life. Lena focused on getting her life back on the right track and decided to concentrate on work instead. Before her and Jason had flown to Las Vegas, she remembered she had applied for an interview at Hawthorne Global Company, she hadn't received a feedback from them but she suspected that was because she didn’t check her email throughout the entire week. They had some spots open for employment and Lena didn't think twice before applying, she had admired Hawthorne Global company for years but they were strict when it came to employing people. They rarely hired people and whenever they had any spot open, thousands of people applied, making it difficult to get a job there. Just as she opened her mailbox, she sees the notification from Hawthorne company at the top of all her messages. Lena couldn't control her heart, she knew the mail could either be a rejection or she had finally been given the opportunity and they invited her for an interview. Deciding to check for herself, she opened the mail and as she read through, she found herself smiling at her laptop screen till she finished reading through the mail. “Yes!!!!” She yelled excitedly and jumped around in excitement all over her apartment. Lena had secured the interview, slowly, the excitement of the interview made her completely forget all about Adrian and she started preparing herself for the big day. “Please tell me you found something?” Adrian asked as the investigator he had hired to look for Lena contacted him.
