I hate being away from the pack. I hate it more than anything, but I do like to fight and I am damn good at it. The fight last night had been vicious, but we had won and all of my men were relatively unharmed, so my mood was upbeat. 5 days ago me and 11 of our best warriors were sent by our Alpha to an allied pack to help with their rogue problem. They are our allies and we had agreed to help them when they had asked, but I had not expected to be sent there myself, this was not something that usually happened, not in our pack at least anyway. The Beta of a pack should stay with their Alpha. They should be there to protect their Alpha at all costs, sacrificing their own life in a second for the life of their Alpha. This was particularly true for me. I would do anything for my Alpha, my big brother. We were as close as any brothers could be, and I hated being sent away by him. He had been particularly bad tempered and easily angered recently and at the end of an argument about nothing, he had demanded that I come here with the warriors. Hopefully now we had located and disposed of the group of rogues that were trying to start their own pack on the edge of the Silver Tides pack territory we could go home and Fabian would be in a much better mood. Somehow I doubted it. Since finding his mate he had been a right miserable fucker. Finding your mate was supposed to complete you, but for Fabian it was like it ripped a part of him away, the happy, reasonable part. I walked into the bar ready to catch up on the rounds I had missed. My warriors have been drinking for about half an hour already so I definitely have some catching up to do. They had gone on ahead whilst I had a meeting with the allies Alpha and Beta. Terry my top warrior and second in command had stayed behind in the meeting too and was now walking with me to the bar to enjoy a celebratory drink or two. The bar sits on the edge of a human town just outside the pack lands, but it is obviously a regular spot for the packs werewolves to have a drink. I notice as we walk towards the bar that it is busy tonight, and not just with werewolves, there looks to be plenty of humans here too. Hopefully there will be plenty of females in there. A chance to have a last night of fun before we leave this goddess forsaken pack for home. I open the door and walk in, Terry half a step behind. I stop dead in my tracks at the sight of the woman behind the bar. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen. It feels like it has been a lifetime since I last laid eyes on her, but she looks like it was only yesterday. Her gorgeous curls are tied back in a loose braid the way she used to wear it when she wanted it out of her way. Her pale grey eyes sparkle like full moons on a dark night and her smile still radiates a warmth that could melt any wolf’s heart. Her full moon eyes look straight into mine and the warmth is sucked from the bar as her smile drops. Her hands begin to shake and she looks like a deer caught in the headlights. She takes a few deep breaths to gather her composure, then places her warm smile back on her face along with a round of bottles of beer on the bar.
“Is that Georgia Monroe?” Terry whispers from behind me but I can’t answer. I can’t make my mouth move from its shocked, open jawed position. It can’t be Georgia Monroe, but it is, and she looks so good. She has hardly changed at all. She has gained some womanly curves over the years but that’s about it. I finally get a hold of myself and nod in answer.
“Yes. It. Is.” I stutter out.
“Damn she looks good. The years have been very kind to her.” Terry says looking her up and down.
“Don’t even think about it.” I snarl at Terry through the mind link. Just the thought of him being with her is enough to send me into a rage. “Fabe will have your head.” I add, but that’s not really the reason. It’s not really Fabe that will have his head.
“Fabe doesn’t care about a little human, however hot she is. Not now he has Cleo.” Terry argues, his eyes never leaving Georgia.
“You better hope you are right. He never did like to share, not even things he didn’t want anymore.” I try to reason.
“Just give me a shout when you are ready for another.” Georgia says disrupting our silent conversation, as she turns away from the group of warriors to serve a group of humans stood next to us. I take one of the bottles and put it to my lips, staring at her as I slowly down the bottle in one go. She breaks from serving the other group to place another bottle silently in front of me, then quickly returns to the humans. I can feel eyes on me and turn to see a barely dressed young brunette watching me intently. I can tell she is human and two minutes ago she would have been my target for the night, no question, but the thought of being with anyone other than Georgia Monroe tonight is ridiculous. I have been in love with Georgia Monroe since the first time I saw her 20 years ago. We had been close friends and I had wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and I would have even been willing to take her as my chosen mate, but Fabian had taken her away from me. No, that’s not right, she is a person not a possession, she had chosen to be with Fabian rather than me, and he had treated her the same way he had treated all females. She had been enchanted by him but he had broken her heart and she had run away and no one knew where she had gone. Fabian had looked around for her but not too hard. He liked having his little human beauty to hang on his every word but he had plenty of other places to place his c**k so he didn’t give it too much thought. I however had looked around wherever I went. I had never stopped, hoping I would get another look at Georgia Monroe, and now I had. I can’t believe I am stood at the bar watching her now, savouring every second I can. I try to get her attention to talk to her but every time I start to speak she finds someone else ready to make an order. She definitely does not want to take a trip down memory lane with me tonight, and probably not any other night, but I have finally found her and I know where she works. I can come back tomorrow after the shock has worn off and maybe she will be willing to talk to me then. I can see she is safe and well and that will have to be enough for tonight.
The night passes by quickly and most of my warriors have left with women on their arms. Despite the offers me and Terry remain at the bar, another bottle in our hands. Rex the Beta’s brother and the owner of the bar returns as the bar is quieting down.
“Thank you so much for looking after the guys for me. I take it everything was ok.” He asks Georgia.
“Everything was fine.” She replies trying to avoid looking at me or Terry.
“Well thank you. You can take off now, I think we have everything covered. Don’t worry I’ll still pay you for the full 4 hours.” Rex says.
“Thank you so much.” Georgia replies giving Rex a quick hug. I can feel my jealousy rising like a thick red fog and quickly take another drink of my beer to stifle the snarl that is building. She walks to the back room and returns wearing a faded denim jacket and heads to the door. Terry is on his feet instantly and following her out of the door. I quickly jump up to follow them.
“Georgia.” Terry calls out to her but she speeds up, refusing to answer him.
“Terry, leave her.” I shout loudly, frustrated that Terry is deliberately chasing after her after I had told him not to earlier.
“No chance.” He shouts back at me.
“Leave me alone, both of you.” She shouts and starts to run fast. Terry starts to run after her as Rex opens the door of the bar and watches the chase.
“Terry leave her.” I repeat through the mind link. “Rex is watching. You don’t want to start a fight right now.” Terry luckily sees sense and begins to slow down watching Georgia sprint away as fast as she can.
“I don’t know what you want with my barmaid but if anything happens to her.” Rex warns, leaving the rest of the threat unsaid.
“How long has she been your barmaid?” I ask walking back inside the bar.
“Not long, but long enough to know she is a good person, who doesn’t deserve to be pursued by your friend against her wishes.”
“Too right.” I mutter under my breath remembering how much of a good person she had been.
“What was that?” Rex asked.
“Nothing. She’s a looker. She have a fella?” I ask instead trying to sound nonchalant.
“Not that I know of, but if she isn’t willing you stay well away from her, alright?”
“I don’t know what you think about me and my pack but we don’t treat woman like that. Alpha Fabian would never let any of his pack take a woman forcefully.” I say proudly defending my brother and our pack.
“Glad to hear it.” Rex replies as Terry returns to the bar, fully pissed off at having been reined in from his pursuit of Georgia.
“Man she is fast for a human. I don’t remember her being that fast at school, but I suppose she was trying to get to us, not away from us back then.” Terry says through the mind link.
