AFTER MY SHOWER, I changed into the items that we’d purchased at the sporting-goods store – including a pair of black Capri leggings and a long white T-shirt, with a grumpy looking cat on the front. Then I pulled my hair up into a ponytail, brushed my teeth, and went in search of Melody and Slade. I stopped first at Melody’s room, but found it empty, so I headed downstairs toward the kitchen.
