“Oh my God, you're bleeding.” Odessa voiced out as soon as she saw the blood gushing out of Freya's arms.
She tore apart her gown and gave it to Freya to use to tie up her wounds. Odessa was confused. She wondered how Freya got such an injury. She remembered clearly that none of the wolves attacked but then again, she remembered she had held her so tightly.
“Did I do that to you?”
Freya grabbed her hands and began dragging her out. “We need to get out of here, now!”
She ran, dragging Odessa with her. They were almost out of the woods when Odessa stopped.
“What is it? We must relate this to the Alpha.”
“My diary, I have to go get it.”
Freya sighed, “Forget the diary, you can always buy another book.”
“No, what's written in there should not be seen, I will be back now.” Odessa said and ran back into the woods.
When she got there, she saw that one of the bodies was lying on her diary. She gasped for air, she didn't know how to lift the body off her diary, her heart was pounding.
She used her legs to nudge the body. The body moved in a way that allowed her to drag out her diary. As she was dragging out her diary, she saw a small circular tear in the chest of the dead body, it revealed a corresponding wound beneath.
She stood with her diary clutched in her hands, she approached the other bodies and gently kicked each one of them to move. With each movement, she saw the same circular tear.
“They were shot,” she whispered to herself, “but with what?”
She heard footsteps approaching, she raised up her head and was astonished to see the female child coming towards her. She looked around as her body stiffened.
“Come with me,” the female child whispered.
The female child began moving in a direction, Odessa looked back to know if she would see Freya coming.
“I should probably get back to Freya,” she said in her thoughts.
“Freya has her own path in your destiny” The child's voice echoed from a distance.
Odessa ran to her immediately. “Can you read my thoughts?”
“Come with me,” the child whispered again.
The child led her into a cave. Everywhere was dark, the sunlight was unable to penetrate through the cave.
Her heart was beating faster than ever, a part of her wanted to scream out the fear in her while the rest wanted to remain calm and be strong.
“Where is this place?”
“Help me,” the child said as she tried moving a rock.
Odessa helped her move the heavy rock and a little sunlight penetrated. She screamed at what she saw in the cave.
Dead bodies piled up, they were like a thousand of them.
“What is this?” Odessa closed her eyes immediately.
“You must see for yourself.”
“No, no, no,” she shook her head in shock.
“What's the point if all these deaths can be averted?”
Hearing “averted” made her realize it wasn't real. She opened her eyes and glanced at the dead bodies.
Her mouth opened in disbelief when she saw Freya's dead body. Her heart began beating faster, she walked closer to the body.
“Freya?”
She looked at the child. “What does this mean?”
The child remained silent, she glanced back at the bodies and saw her mother's dead body and beside it was Ryker's.
“No, no, no, no, …..” tears flowed from her eyes.
“Many will fall if you do not do the right thing.” The child whispered.
“What is the right thing?” she asked, still staring at the dead bodies.
She heard no response, she looked at the child, but she wasn't there anymore.
“I don't even know who you are!!!” Odessa screamed out.
She heard footsteps approaching.
“Are you the moon goddess or her emissary?” Her voice trembled.
But it was Freya who walked in.
“What are you doing here? I have been screaming your name.”
Odessa looked around, the dead bodies had disappeared as well.
“How…. How did you find me?”
“I followed your scent, i***t, now let's get out of here.”
She followed Freya out of the caves and back into the woods. She had a lot of questions running through her head.
“Was it only my scent you could smell when you came down there?”
“No,” Freya replied without stopping her movements.
“They were others?” Odessa asked while she tried to meet up with her pace.
“Of course there were others. You're not the first person to be in those caves, people come and go. It was just yours I recognized.”
Freya was moving faster than ever, they were already out of the woods. She was the only one sensing the urgency to relate the dead wolves matter to the Alpha.
“Did you scent a child?”
“Enough with the questions!!!” She dragged Odessa.
She tried crossing to the other side of the road when a Mercedes-Benz came out of nowhere and hit them.
They both fell and remained still on the floor with their eyes closed. Freya opened her eyes immediately and realized Odessa was unconscious.
“Odessa!” She called as she moved her body.
A 25-year-old handsome man came out of the car and rushed to them. He checked her pulse to be certain she was still alive.
At that moment, she opened her eyes slowly; all she could see before her was Ryker. She slowly massaged his cheeks, and this surprised both the 25-year-old man and Freya.
“I can't seem to forget our first kiss, Ryker,” she whispered to the stranger and brought her lips forward to the young man.
It was tempting to him, as the girl before him was a beauty to behold.
But before he could react to her actions, she kissed him. His heart raced with excitement as he felt the soft brush of her lips against his, but he knew it wasn't right, so he let go and grabbed her.
“I'm not Ryker,” he notified her.
“Odessa!!” Freya called out as well.
She saw clearly at that moment that she had kissed a stranger, and she felt ashamed.
“I'm so sorry,” she said, unable to look him in the eyes.
Freya stood and grabbed her up, they both moved to the other side of the road and continued their journey.
“He is a werewolf,” Freya whispered as they moved.
“Huh?”
The man smiled and entered his car. He drove off smiling.
