When You Are Alive There is Still a Hope

Chapter 9

********* 7 Months Later******

Merry and Lucy were having dinner together. Lucy was going to sleepover at Merry's house since their husbands were working night shift. Merry's house now was extended and renovated into a double story. It's 7 bedroom now after renovation with a double garage. Merry and Lucy were having snacks in lounge and watching soapies omnibus.

" I always prayed for pregnancy...boooh* sorbing* it's here now but I so wish I could be delivered."

Said Merry brushing her big bum after eating.

"Yooh I could imagine. But you will be free soon dear. At least in a few days. But to me it's another story, I am still at my first trimester. The morning sickness is killing me."

Lucy said with a warm smile.

"I wish i could....Oh my God Lucy! Are you also expecting. Woow I noticed you gaining a litle and glowing. Congratulations my sister".

They hugged.

"Thank you my sister".

She was blushing.

" You know what is strange is that I still feel hungry even after eating so much".

" No its not strange because you eat for two". Lucy showed the gesture of two with her fingers. While they were still chating, Lucy noticed that something was not right. Merry has even started sweating on her forehead but she was still talking to her as if nothing is wrong.

"Merry why are you looking pale, are you feeling any pains?"

Merry smile faintly and replied

"Yeah, sometimes it disappear as if it will not come back. Or Is it because maybe I ate too much today". Merry couldn't hide her pains anymore because the pains are becoming severe.

"When did it start? Why didn't you tell me?"

Lucy was worried. Who was going to reply her because Merry was groaning with pain.

" Aaaaaah mmmmmh ooh my God".

Her face turned paler and Lucy panicked.

She went to a bathroom instead of bedroom to fetch her phone so she can call ambulance and Inform Alpheos.

"Hang in there dear, I am calling ambulance". She shouted anxiously.

"Mmmmhh ooooohh call my husband". Merry was in so much pains now. She was moaning. Merry stood up and soon she stood up she sit down, actually she wanted the position that will easy the pains that she was feeling. Lucy found her phone and soon dialed 911, soon the call was connected.

"Hello. This is Lucy..someone needs help, she is in so much pain".

Call: "Give me your address and your number mam we will send ambulance immediately".

She gave the address and the number after she hung up. She went to a bedroom to fetch continental to support Merry who was in so much pains. She was moaning.

" I said call my husband Lucy..didn't you hear me".

She shouted.

"Oh I called the ambulance first....but...."

"I said call him dammit.. aaaah".

" Why are you yelling? Calm down okay!?"

Lucy was panicking. She didn't know what to do. Now that Merry was moaning nonstop and shouting at her. She was throwing tantrums as if Lucy was the corse of her pains. But she didn't take it to heart because she knew Merry's character very well.

Lucy dialed Alpheos's phone number soon he picked up.

"Hello Alphoes, Merry...Merry is..."

"What happened to her.. is she okay?" Alphoes was anxious at the end of the phone.

"Yes...no... eish I think she is on labour pains. I have already called the ambulance".

Alphoes panicked and his heart beat was faster that on the watch. He found himself on manager's office. He even forget to knock.

"I am coming now".

He hung up the phone first.

" I am sorry to budge in your office without knocking sir. I have an emergency at home. My wife is on labour pains as we speak, she needs me..."

His heart was pounding.

"Ooh Congratulations man. Go ahead..we will sign your leave papers in a few days. Just go and be with your wife. This moment is very important for the both of you." Said the manager with a warm smile.

"Thank you sir. You are the good leader. God Bless you". Alphoes breathed a big sigh of relief. He knew it was very busy at this moment at work but he had no choice but to ask for a leave so he can accompany his wife.

"Go now. I can't deprive you your right to be with your wife at this moment. You need to be the first one to meet and welcome your first child for the first time"

Alphoes noded and left. He was moved by his manager's kindness, because he even handed him his car keys. Alphoes has a car but he didnt use it recently because he wanted to make things easier for Merry whenever she needs transport.

Mr Chris was Alphoes's manager. They had a good working relationship. Chris was very kind and treated his subordinates with kindness. He was not the kind of boss who uses their power to bully others. He even borrowed Alphoes his car to make it convenient for him to rush to his wife because he thought hailing taxi's would be troublesome.

*******Hospital ************

The nurses and doctors were up and down doing their own things. Speaking their language that someone who is not in their field could never understand. Others were writing something on Merry's file while the other was checking her blood pressure. Soon Alphoes arrived and his wife was already admitted at the ward.

" Are you Mrs Zuh's husband?"

Asked the doctor who was coming out of the ward to Alphoes.

" Yes doctor. How is my wife?"

Alphoes was very nervous in such a way that he was sweating as he asked the doctor.

"She is still in labour pains, soon you will meet your child. Are you excited?"

"Doc to be honest I don't know how I feel. I feel sorry for my wife because she is in pains because of me".

The doctor was stunned for a moment and said

"I see. You love your wife dearly huh. What a lucky woman".

The doctor smiled at him but Alpheos's mind wasn't there. His mind and heart was on his wife. He was praying in his heart.

" Let's go inside the ward, I am sure your baby will arrive soon. Your wife needs you".

Alpheos noded on Lucy then followed the doctor to the ward where his wife was.

When he saw his wife's situation. His heart ached because she was no longer the neat and calm and collected Merry he always knew. Her hair was in a mess and her face was pale even though she was sweating. She was like a madman because she was shouting at everyone near her.

"Alpheos! Aaaaaah yoooooooh it's.......aaaah it's painful".

" I am sorry my angel. Just hang in there. I just wish I could take this pain away from you and bear it for you".

" Aaaaaah Alp.....ooohaaaaa...just wanna puuuuuuuaaaaaa hahaaaaaa".

The doctors came to her at yhe very fast speed at the same time when they heard Merry's words.

"Okay I will count to three then you push". Said the doctor to Merry.

Alphoes was holding her hands. Even when she was bitting them but it was like he couldn't feel pains.

Doc:1.......2.......3 puuuuush

Soon the head was out..the doctor instructed again and soon the baby was out.

" waaaaah....uwaaaaaah the loud noise of a crying baby. The couple bust into tears. Merry was so over moon.

" Congratulations Mr and Mrs Zuh. You got a beautiful chubby baby girl. He put the baby on mother's chest and then take it for observation or check up...sort of. The nurses cleaned Merry. Alpheos sighed because he has been praying for his wife to give birth naturally without any complications. He was a father now, what a Blessing . He felt that he should be grateful to the all mighty so he said:

"Let's pray baby. Close your eyes".

"Father Lord you are love.Thank you for this wonderful gift you gave us. Thank you for keeping them safe. Please help us Lord to teach our child all your teachings. You are God our provider. Please protect her against illness and all evils. Heal my wife fast Lord. Bless the nurses and doctors father. You chose them for this important task Lord. Protect them and give them syrength all the time. BLESS MY WIFE WITH LONG LIFE LORD. I ask this in the name of the Lord. Amen."

"Thanks daddy".

The doctors admired Alphoes and the nurses envy Merry for having a charming and loving husband. Especially who knows and love God.

The couple continued to hold each other's hands, they even forgot about Lucy who was still waiting outside the ward.
