I scented her before she walked into the dining room. Luke stood up and ran towards the door once it opened and engulfed Zee in a massive bear hug. I could see her tapping his shoulder so he could release her, knowing Luke he probably had tears in his eyes at seeing her again after five years. When Luke’s mate and her shook hands and were coming towards, I couldn’t breathe. She was still beautiful except her once black hair was now silver, her sapphire blue eyes warmed when she looked down at the boy holding her hand. I can feel Rex in my mind looking at them before saying “Mate, pup” before closing the link between us. When her eyes locked onto me, I couldn’t help myself, I had to have her in my arms. I walked over to her in three strides and pulled her against my body, saying “Welcome home, Love” before crashing my lips onto hers.

As the room settled, our son gazed up at Zee with curiosity, his eyes wide as he asked, “Who’s that?” Zee smiled gently, introducing me as his father. The joy on his face was infectious, and after he had bombarded her with questions, I tried to take her hand, but she pushed me away slightly and shook her head no at me before picking up our son and walking away from me. I looked after her as our son turned his head towards me and waved his little hand before going back to talking to his mother.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, but didn’t turn my head. I knew it was Theo by his scent. “Your lucky that you are still standing, and that your son was beside her otherwise you’ll be six feet deep in the ground by now,” he says as he walks away from me and sits next to Zee with Sophia on his lap rubbing her baby bump. I sigh as I know that whatever I do isn’t going to work on her. I know she felt the mate bond the electric shocks when I touched it became like fireworks exploding across my fingers.

I went to the table and sat beside our son Dylan. At first, he growled at me until he noticed it was me sitting beside him. I heard Rex laugh in my head. “Pup is protective of mate,” as he continued to laugh as I looked over at Zee to see this cold look in her eyes and a smile on her face as she talked to everyone around her but warmth when she looked at our son. Angie and Max came into the dining room with Luna Mary and Maggie and her mate Kobe with their little girl Willa.

Zee was up and out of her chair so fast that I couldn’t tell when she moved and hugged Maggie and Kobe. Rex got jealous instantly and a low growl came out as I had to remind Rex that Kobe is her best friend and mated to her cousin, as Zee hugs her family before coming back to Dylan and sitting beside him, everyone catches up with Zee, but she doesn’t give much away about her time in the Golden Moon pack but all she says is that King Alex and Queen Lidia have twin boys who are not 6 yrs old and how they call her Aunty Zee and she shares how the Royal couple and her are best friends as well and most of what she does is top secret.

“What do you do about finding traitors and stuff” asked Maggie as she hands over the mash potatoes to Zee “Well we investigate first like anyone would and depending on the crime, I would send them to prison or worse” Zee shrugs like its not big deal “But I also go to different packs to help train their warriors, help if Rogues attack” she continues as she sips her lemonade.

After Dinner she picks up Dylan and turns to leave after telling everyone she will see them tomorrow morning, I stood up to go follow her as she reached the step I called out to her but she doesn’t turn around “Zee can we please talk” I asked gently hoping to see her face but when she doesn’t my heart shutters a little “No we talked five years ago remember, by the way how is Diana and her mother” she asked as she turn slightly her face void of expression, her eyes icily cold her voice with no emotion.

“I got told by her father that they were sent to prison for trying to get in-between their pack Alpha’s mate bond” I told her the truth as I looked at her eyes “she was interrupting important meeting and trying to bully my pack members so I sent her home after Brad found her snooping in my office one day” I continued, all she did was nod her head and hummed at me then she turned back around and continued up the stairs saying over her shoulder “Who did you think took them to prison” as I stood there shocked.

I went to go after her again when I felt her uncle’s hand on my shoulder “Come with me Aiden I have something you might want to see first before you hurt yourself” then he walked away from me heading to his study. As we waked in there was Theo and Luke and Richards laptop open on his desk, he gestured for me to sit in front of the laptop with them all behind me “What you will see is what she is now the king sent us videos and her profile of her progress over the last five years” Richard said then he starting pressing the play button.

The first video was of her on the training field when she first arrived dominating the field then the next one when her hair started going silver and her eyes going purple there were different videos and each one was different from the last one as she comes into her powers , the last was dated three years ago her face with no expression, it was cold like winter had frozen over she was in tactical gear getting ready for a mission the person’s voice behind the video camera “Hey ice queen you know were we are heading” the man voice asked as Zee looks up at him “Ice Queen really Zack how original it’s Commander to you and yes we are heading to a pack called Valley fields” her voice sends chills down my spine by how cold it sounded to my ears as we all watched the videos, all with different people recording her in each one some had her smirking or laughing, but it was all cold.

Then we saw her mission logs and her profile of all her achievements, commendations of the highest regard by the King himself. She became his personal guard after she finished the elite guard training, then to his top advisor as well as his top general. All within five years, she had been away. “Holy s**t” is all we said when we got near the end of the file. Then most of the words were blacked out on the last file, but at the very end of the page said “Head Assassin commander." What did she do to get that? It started to make me wonder about everything I heard over the last five years.
