The darkness of her heart

When we first met

Katherine's P.O.V

 The sun rays crept into my face and woke me up 

, i stand up and go to open the window

 and i saw the ground covered with snow , i've always admired winter's mornings , soo peaceful, beautiful and that always made me immerse in my thoughts.

Suddenly my alarm went on and brought me back to realty 

                "s**t i'm late" i whisper .

i took a shower and wore some black jeans and a navy blue blouse , i looked at the mirror and decided to leave my hair open

                "Katherine you're late , hurry your father is waiting" My mother shouted 

i sighed and went downstairs 

                "Good morning" i said to both of them 

                "Good morning sweetie" My father said back

and then he went to his car and i followed him , i hopped in and we drove in silence 

                "This is your first day at school Katherine you need to make a good impression" he said breaking the silence

                "Did i ever disappoint you , this will be like any other year dad" i reply

he chuckled , well that's a good thing right ? he wasn't in a great mood the past few weeks 

                "Did you have breakfast ?" He asked

                "No it was too late to have one" i said

and suddenly he changed the road 

                "Everyone needs to eat , plus you're late anyway" he said

I smiled at his respond , my father and i are close , not that much but... yeah

He stopped the car and headed to the shop , and after few minutes he came back

                "Here you go" he said giving me a cup of coffee and a donut 

                "Thanks daddy" i said happily 

And after some few minutes we arrived , i got out of the car and waved at him goodbye

i walked toward the school entrance and i started sneezing

                (Great... just great , now is the perfect moment for me to catch a cold) i thought.

Once i entered , i walked in the hallway searching for the principal office 

                "What are you doing out of class" an old lady said that with a very loud voice

                "I actually was searching for the principal office , i'm new in here" i replied politely 

once she heard that i'm new in here she froze 

                "Are... are you.. Miss.Estella... ?" she asked afraid of the answer

i smirk

                "Yes , i am" i say proudly and with a devilish smile

And then her toxin went pale as if she saw a ghost

                "Please come this way , my office is just around the corner" She said politely 

                "Lead the way" i replied

When we entered her office she offered me a seat

                "I assume that you already have my file" i said while sitting 

                "Yes your manager gave it to me a week ago , everything is settled" she replied

We talked a bit about the school policy and the usual things , and let me tell you this it was boring as f**k .

after few minutes she gave me my schedule and the classes numbers .

                "That will be all for today , thank you for your time" she said as she opened the door for me 

 they are all the same , once they hear my last name their bitchy attitude changes into an angelic one.

I smiled at her and excused myself 

i looked at my schedule and smiled when i saw that i have French for the first period , after a while i found the classroom , i knocked on the door 

                "Entrez {come in} " i hear 

i opened the door and all of the students are looking at me , and they started whispering , but i don't care 

and then i looked toward the teacher's desk waiting for him to give me the permission to sit,  and my eyes met his

he kept staring at me , for way too long i must say , maybe he's just wondering who i was ? 

(f**k , i bet my face is too red)

i searched for an empty spot to sit at and sat there

                "Continuons, allons-nous {let's continue , shall we} " He said

after a while it was my turn

                 "et vous mademoiselle ? {what about you Miss ?} " he asked  

                "Bonjour, mon nom est Katherine {Hello, my name is Katherine} " i replied

he nodded

                 "Voulez-vous nous en dire plus sur vous ? {Mind telling us more about yourself ?} " he asked 

(Well s**t , what am i suppose to tell him now)

                 "Eh bien..., je suis nouveau dans ce pays , et j'ai toujours aimé apprendre de nouvelles langues, c'est l'une des choses qui me passionnent, et je suis plus susceptible d'être une personne de nuit {Eh well..., i'm new in this country , and i have always loved learning new languages , it's one of the things i feel passionate about, and i'm more likely to be a night person } " i said

                "Ah! vous êtes nouveau, j'espère que vous l'aimez ici Katherine {Ah ! you're new , i hope you like it in here Katherine}" he said with a generous smile  

(he seems nice) i thought smiling back at him

And after a while the bell rang , everyone rushed out of the room , but before i do that

                "Katherine ?" the teacher said

i turn around to face him

                "Yes ?" i said

i walked toward his desk 

                "You were late and i didn't have the chance to introduce myself " he said 

                "My name is Chase , Chase Devereaux" he added

                "Its nice to meet you Mr.Devereaux" i said with a smile

                "It's nice to meet you too Katherine" he said politely

and then he wrote me a late note which i totally forgot about

                "Here you go" he said giving me the note

i thanked him and got out .

the rest of the day went smoothly , i had history as my last class for today

i entered and sat down , and shortly after a girl sat next to me , she was beautiful she had black hair and an amazing sparkling green eyes she was wearing some blue jeans and a black top that matched her hair , and surprisingly she looked familiar

                "Hi i'm Scarlet" she said happily 

                "Katherine" i responded

                "You're new in here ?" she asked 

(well duh) i think "Yes i am , i just started today" i replied

                "We actually have all classes together but the the first period" she said

                "Yeah , i had French" i responded

                " anyway i saw you sitting all alone so i thought maybe you wanted some company..?" she said

(no i don't) "Thanks" i said 

                "No need to be shy honey , i won't judge you for being an Estella" she said

i look at her curiously 

                "what ? i'm not afraid of you hon" she said with a smirk

before i could say anything the bell rang 

                "I need to go now , my bodyguard is waiting for me outside" i said 

                "Well mine too but you don't see me in a hurry, do you" she said 

i roll my eyes and headed outside

                "Bye Scarlet" i said with a generous smile

she smiled and she gave me a standard salute , i chuckled and got into the car

after few minutes we arrived , my bodyguard opened the door for me and i thanked him, he nodded .

as soon as i entered , i found my mom sitting and reading and then she noticed my presence 

                "There you are , i was waiting for you" she said happily

(Oh no.. , i know that smile , what is she up to now) i thought

                "You were waiting for me ?" i asked making myself sound clueless 

                "Yes , i need you to take a shower and prepare your self , i left you a dress in your room, wear it when you finish"

I narrowed my eyes demanding her to explain , but her phone rang and she left to take the call

i rolled my eyes and went to my room , and on my bed i found a very beautiful short red dress with sleeves

i hopped in the shower and got ready , my mom entered and scanned me from the head till the toes and smiled 

                "You look absolutely stunning" she said

                "Thanks , but why am i dressed up ?" i asked

                "The Price family is coming for diner tonight and they are bringing their children with them , and i simply want my daughter to look better" she said with a smirk

she opened her purse and grabbed a red lipstick , and she applied it on my lips

                "Now you look perfect. My beautiful daughter" she said generously .

she left after that , i had plenty of time till diner so i decided to curl my hair and probably read a book afterward .

time flew by and it was night , i heard the guests talking with my parents but i couldn't care less , but then my mother entered

                "Katherine your father called you , come on the guests are waiting" she said and left after that

i sighed and looked at the mirror one last time and i left my room.

I was walking downstairs and all eyes were on me .

And at that very exact moment our eyes met, it's him , Chase

Chase's P.O.V

A cold breeze woke me up , i stood up and closed the window

i look at the time and it was 6:20 , i took a shower a got dressed for my first day teaching at a private school i went to the kitchen to have some breakfast and i found all of my family gathered at the table

                "morning" i said

                "morning" my sister and baby brother said back , while my parents were busy with their phones not even noticing my presence

                "Are you going to give me a ride today ?" my sister asked 

                "Sure " i said smiling at her

                "Well you better hurry , i don't want to be late for school" she said annoyed 

i rolled my eyes and then chuckled while nodding at her

after finishing breakfast i gave my brother a kiss on his cheek and gave a sign to my sister to follow me

we got into the car and drove

                "So... are you excited for your first day" she asked

                "I don't know how to feel about this , i have never got to teach in a private school before" he said

                "Chill big bro , it's the same but mostly with arrogant people" she reassured him

he couldn't hold his laughter after the tone she spoke with

and in no time they arrived he said goodbye to his sister and went to the principal office and then he knocked

                "Enter" the principal said

                "Good morning Mrs.Robinson" he greeted her

                "Good morning , please take a seat" she replied 

they spoke about the school contract , signed papers...etc 

                "Everything is settled Mr.Devereaux and you already have your schedule" she said

                "Thanks" i said before i left

i walked in the hallway till i found the right class , i entered and prepared myself before the students arrive

and after 20 minutes all of the students were here but one

                "Bonjour à tous, je m'appelle Chase Devereaux et je serai votre professeur de français pour le reste de l'année {Hello everyone , my name is Chase Devereaux and i'll be your French teacher for the rest of the year} " i said smiling

they greeted me back

                "Aujourd'hui, nous ne ferons rien d'autre que d'apprendre à nous connaître {Today we're not going to do anything but to get to know each other} " i said

luckily the students liked the idea , 

                (i mean, that's a good sign right ?) i thought

after 15 mints i heard a knock on the door

                (it must be the missing student) i thought

                "Entrez {come in} " i said

And a girl came in , she was stunning

she had the most beautiful and a very long blond hair , she was wearing black jeans and a navy blue blouse that matched her eyes , oh god her eyes...

suddenly she walked toward an empty spot to sit at 

(s**t for how long have i been staring at her)

                "Continuons, allons-nous {let's continue , shall we} " i said trying to save myself from a huge embarrassment

few minutes after , it was The girl turn 

                "et vous mademoiselle ? {what about you Miss ?} " i asked

                "Bonjour, mon nom est Katherine... {Hello, my name is Katherine...} " she replied

                (her voice is angelic) i think to myself

                "Voulez-vous nous en dire plus sur vous ? {Mind telling us more about yourself ?} " i asked

she stopped for a second

                "Eh bien..., je suis nouveau dans ce pays, et j'ai toujours aimé apprendre de nouvelles langues, c'est l'une des choses qui me passionnent, et je suis plus susceptible d'être une personne de nuit {Eh well..., i'm new in this country , and i have always loved learning new languages , it's one of the things i feel passionate about, and i'm more likely to be a night person } " she said

                "Ah! vous êtes nouveau, j'espère que vous l'aimez ici Katherine {Ah ! you're new , i hope you like it in here Katherine}" i said with a generous smile

she smiled back at me , her smile is soo beautiful

                (she looks like a good person , i hope she's not one of the arrogant people my sister told me about) i thought.

After the bell rang i called Katherine before she left

                "Katherine ?" i said

she turned around 

                "Yes ?" she said

she walked toward my desk

                "You were late and i didn't have the chance to introduce myself " i said 

                "My name is Chase , Chase Devereaux" i added

                "Its nice to meet you Mr.Devereaux" she said with a smile

                "It's nice to meet you too Katherine" i said politely

and then i wrote her a late note and handed it to her

                "Here you go" i said giving her the note

and then she thanked me and left the room.

  (this is going to be one hell of a year)  

After i finished for today i walked to my car and waited for my sister to come back

                "What is taking her soo long" i say annoyed

and then i see her coming 

                "Finally" i said

                "What ? i was talking to a friend" she said rolling her eyes

                "Just get in" i said with a chuckle

moments later we arrive at my house , and i immediately went to my room and took a shower.

10 minutes later i got out of the shower and threw my self in bed

                "I'm never leaving you again my precious bed" i cry

my sister laughed at me and i got up

                "How dare you interrupt my conversation with my bed" i said angrily

                "sometimes i wander how could you be my older brother , i'm much more mature than you" she said rolling her eyes .

i laughed at her respond and grabbed her hand and threw her in bed with me.

 We chatted for a while and then my mother entered

                "I see you're enjoying yourselves" she said smiling

                "Yes we are" i replied

                "Sweetie , here is a suit i need you to wear tonight" she said while placing a tuxedo on the bed

                (Why is she being too nice... , i smell trouble) i thought

                "I left a dress in your room for you too honey" she said to my sister

                "Cool , i'll go try it now" my sister said as she left

                "Where are we going ?" i asked her

                "We're going to have diner with a friend of your father's and his family , they just moved here and he wanted to go and congratulate them , pardon me i must go now to prepare my self" she said and left afterwards 

i sighed and got dressed , half an hour later i went downstairs and i saw my sister wearing a blue dress

she came toward me and bowed and i laughed 

                "You look great sis ,i'm sure that you'll be the most beautiful girl at diner tonight" i say to her smiling

                "Why thank you , though i already knew that" she said with a chuckle

we drove in silence until we arrived at huge mansion , the guards opened the gated once knowing our arrival

and soon we entered 

                "Welcome , please come in" a woman greeted us

soon after that a man showed up he shook hands with my father and i immediately recognized him.

the woman walked toward me

                "You must be Chase" she said

                "Yes i am , and you must be Mrs.Estella" i said smiling

                "Yes honey that would be me" she said 

soon after ,she led us to the dining room , i sat down glaring at my mother giving her the 'what the hell is going on' look , but she keeps her poker face on

                "Where is you daughter Julio ?" my father asked Mr.Estella 

                "Teresa why don't you call her" he said to his wife

she nodded at him and excused her self , 10 minutes later she came back

                "She'll be here any minute" she said smiling

                "Why don't you tell us about yourself son, i heard you started teaching" Julio said to me

                "I did , but that doesn't mean i'm giving up on my father's company , i'm just exploring new fields" i say politely

before he could say anything we heard foot steps , it must be their daughter

And at that very exact moment our eyes met, it's her , Katherine.
