Lets Go See Your Mom

Aiden woke suddenly to banging on the door. He looked around and grabbed his phone looking at the time. It was 7 am and he had 10 missed messages from Jax starting last night. He heard a quiet moan beside him and realized that he had fallen asleep with Alys last night after their bath. He had forgotten all about Jax. The banging started again and Alys made another noise. ‘Ok, Ok, I am coming I’m sorry. I was helping Alys and we ended up falling asleep. Just give me a minute! And stop that banging you will wake her up.’ Aiden linked Jax, as he slowly crept out of the bed trying to keep from disturbing the heavenly woman. ‘About time you responded, it felt like I’ve been trying to link a rock. And you didn’t respond to my texts.’ Jax whined ‘Jeez you sound like a petulant child. Or a needy girlfriend.’ Aiden grumbled back. He threw on jeans and a t-shirt and headed down the stairs to the door to the hallway letting in a pouting Jax. “Nice to see you too.” Jax said, suddenly grinning widely as he pushed past Aiden into the living room. “Wow, your suite has two floors? Mines nice and all but its not this nice.” Jax looked around and made a silent whistle. Rolling his eyes Aiden walked to the kitchenette and started making coffee, thankfully this suite came with a full sized coffee pot and decent local coffee grinds and four mugs. “Keep it down, you will wake Alys.” Aiden glared at his beta. They both sat at the small table between the kitchenette and living room. “So what’s the low down.” Jax asked taking on a more serious look. “Alys, it would seem, has a stalker. When we went to dinner the night before last we were interrupted by Alys’s… friend. He was not happy to see Alys there with me and actually attacked me. Alys separated us and we left” “Alys separated you two? That’s badass” Jax interrupted, then made a zipper motion across his lips at Aiden’s raised eyebrow. “Nah, it's true, it was pretty badass, she had no fear standing up to him.” Aiden smiled with a look of pride on his face. His mate was fierce, the perfect Luna. “She projected her power once too, she was angry and was telling him to stop when I felt it.” “So what do we do now?” Jax asked “I think for now I would like you to go and scout Alys’s house, check around for me.” Aiden stopped, hearing his mate stir upstairs and decided to continue in the link. ‘The rogue broke into Alys’s house yesterday, I am assuming after he destroyed her car. He marked and scented her home, focusing the most on all of her personal belongings in her room.’ Jax’s eyes flashed in anger at that, both out of respect for his future Luna and for the sheer audacity the rogue had to do such a disgusting thing. ‘Has he turned feral?’ Jax asked incredulously. ‘No, not yet, but this may be his turning point. He seems determined to have Alys for himself. I think he might suspect she’s part wolf.’ Aiden responded sighing out loud. ‘Have you found out anything more about that?’ ‘I am hoping to talk to Alys today and see if I can figure anything out from what she tells me of her past.’ Just then the scent of lilacs and vanilla started to drift down the stairs causing Aiden to stop and watch as Alys came down. She had put on her pj shorts but instead of the shirt they came with, she was wearing his t-shirt from yesterday. Her hair was flowing freely around her like a fiery halo, messy waves reaching her shoulder blades. When she got to the bottom of the stairs she noticed Aiden wasn’t sitting alone, she blushed a little and tugged on the hem of his shirt before coming over and leaning against Aiden holding her hand out towards Jax. “Hello, I am Alys. You must be Jax? Aiden mentioned you arrived last night. Sorry for keeping him.” She smiled sweetly as Jax took her hand shaking it, staring wide eyed at her. Aiden couldn’t help but glare at Jax for the way he was staring at his mate. Aiden cleared his throat making Jax snap out of it and he grinned at Aiden. ‘How did you get mated to that, you lucky jerk?’ Jax teased Aiden through the link, but out loud he spoke to Alys. “Nice to meet you, you may keep him anytime. Honestly when I’m with him all he does is make me work.” Alys giggled then sniffed the air. “Mmmmm coffee.” And with that she turned toward the counter and started making herself a cup. Jax and Aiden both laughed. “Do we happen to have anything to eat? I am absolutely starving. We didn’t eat dinner last night, and I don’t think I remember eating anything at the shop.” Alys asked as she came back and stood again beside Aiden. There were only two chairs at the table, so Aiden pushed his out a bit and patted his lap grinning at Alys. She blushed but after looking around she shrugged and sat down on his lap. “No, but I can send Jax to go get something. What would you like?” Aiden asked, as he snaked his arm around her waist. “See, already making me work!” Jax exclaimed, pretending to be put out. “Jax you are always complaining you are bored. I give you work to keep you busy, I am helping you.” Aiden countered. “When I say I am bored, I want something interesting to do, not work!” Jax complained. Alys started giggling again at their banter as she sipped her coffee. “Well Jax, I own a coffee shop. If you wouldn’t mind, I can come with you to get some baked goods?” Alys offered, Aiden shot Jax a glare from behind Alys. “No, no. I am already dressed and ready I can run out. I just enjoy making Aiden work for my hard work” he chuckled at his own terrible joke and stood up. “Where is your coffee shop? Baked goods sound delicious to me.” “Thank you so much Jax. It’s just on the main street its named after me so its easy to find. I will text Hannah and see if she can put a box together for you.” Then Alys stood to go get her phone as Jax stood to go get the food. After he left Alys sat down in the chair he vacated and Aiden put on a playful pout. “I think I preferred your previous seat.” Aiden told her. “But I can see your handsome face much better from this one.” Alys said back. “You think I am handsome?” Aiden’s face split into a wide grin. “Well of course I do,” Alys blushed, “to be honest I think you are the most handsome man I have ever seen. I am so drawn to you, I feel like we are… connected?” Alys looked confused as if she wasn’t expecting that word to come out. “I am sorry, I don’t know where that came from.” “It’s ok, I feel the exact same way.” Aiden smiled and was tempted to tell her right then and there about the bond. But he knew he needed to wait just a little longer before telling her everything. First they needed to talk about her. He wanted to connect some dots so he would have answers to the questions he knew she would have. “We haven’t had much of a chance to actually sit and talk. I’d like to know more about you.” “I would like to know more about you too” she said shyly, “How about I go first and ask you a question, then I will answer the same question. Then you can ask me one, and so on?” Aiden suggested thinking that would be the best way to get the ball rolling. “Sure, fire away!” Alys seemed to like the suggestion, she shifted to get more comfortable on her chair tucking her foot up under her other leg, knee bent so she could rest her chin on her knee. “Are you an only child? Did you grow up here, where are your parents?” Aiden tried to hide the most important one in with the other two. “Hey that’s cheating, that’s three questions,” Alys laughed and he smiled back but stayed quiet, waiting for her to answer. “Well I am an only child, yes I grew up here and haven’t really left. And it was just me and my mom. She lives a couple blocks away from where I live and we see each other a lot. Well did, after Drew died though I kind of started shutting people out.” She answered honestly. The last part she looked down into her coffee cup and Aiden could feel the guilt again build up through the bond. “You know, I think he would just want you to be happy. To keep living life. I know I didn’t know him, but if it was me I would only ever want the best for you. And that would mean wanting you to find happiness again.” Aiden tried to comfort her. She looked up at him with unshed tears and nodded. “I know. It’s just hard. He was my first boyfriend, we dated for a few years after high school and then we got married. We had only just started talking about kids right before he…passed.” A few stray tears trickled down her cheeks and Aiden reached over wiping them away. “I hadn’t even thought about moving on. But then I met you.” Aiden smiled at her last words which came out as barely a whisper and decided to answer his own questions. “I have no siblings either, I grew up in a… community, called Blue Lake, just outside of Wakerton. I took over the family business when I turned 22. It was a lot of work and some thought I wasn’t ready yet, but I have worked hard to gain their trust and show them I am. My whole life was spent being groomed to take over, I haven’t had time for much of anything else. My mom and dad had me a bit later in life, so they were ready to step down and enjoy retirement.” Aiden told her as truthfully as he could manage. At that moment Jax marched back in with the food. “Honey I’m back!” He yelled from the door, and came in dropping the box on the table. “Is Hannah single? She’s a firecracker that one!” Jax said dreamily, causing Alys to laugh. “No, sorry she’s in a relationship.” Alys responded, then she opened up the box of baked goods and happily took out a slice of lemon loaf quickly taking a large bite then groaned in delight, the noise making Aiden’s member twitch in his pants. “Of course, all the good ones are.” Jax sighed, then helped himself to a chocolate chip muffin. Aiden looked in the box and saw there was banana muffins inside as well and he smiled at Alys for remembering his favourite, she was an amazing woman. “Wow, where do you guys order your food from? This muffin is amazing!” Jax mumbled through a mouthful of muffin, he had already demolished one and was working on a second still standing beside the table. “They are all mine. I make all the food for the cafe, I love baking and cooking.” She replied pride swelling in her voice. Aiden motioned for her to come over to him and sit with him again so Jax could sit down, but Jax shook his head. “These are amazing, you are my new favourite person! Don’t get up, I am going to run out and do a few things.” Jax said wiping the crumbs off his face. He reached in and grabbed a slice of the lemon loaf taking a bite and making delighted noises as he chewed and walked away. “Behave you two, see you later.” ‘Text me Alys’s address I’ll go do that now and see what I can find out. I’m also going to check the perimeter afterwards make sure this Cody fellow isn’t hiding out somewhere nearby.’ Jax linked Aiden so Alys wouldn’t hear. ‘Will do. I’ll let you know if Alys and I go anywhere. Can you also arrange for her car to be brought to a mechanic I don’t want her seeing that again.’ Aiden responded thinking about her car and how it might affect her. ‘Roger that.’ Jax closed the link. Aiden watched as Alys finished her piece of lemon loaf. “Shall we move to the couch where it’s more comfortable?” He suggested. She nodded and stood moving to the living room and plopping herself down on the couch with a sigh. Aiden sat down beside her and pulled her legs up and over his lap gently massaging them. She closed her eyes enjoying his attentions. “So, where were we?” Aiden asked, “ah yes, I believe its your turn to ask me a question.” “Hmm.” She thought for a moment eyes still closed. “What’s Blue Lake like? I don’t think I have heard of it before, it’s just outside of Wakerton you said?” “Yes, about half hour drive. It’s a quiet place off the beaten path, most people don’t know about it and we kind of like it that way. It’s right beside a large lake, and we often have large beach parties on the shore. We do a lot of community events and we have all the basic needs including a small store and a medical clinic. Anything more and we can go into the city. It was a great place to grow up. Everyone knows everyone, it’s safe and we all look out for one another.” He watched as she listened a with a small smile on her face, as if she was imagining what he was saying. He tried to convey how unique it was, he wanted her to want to go there with him. To know that she would have a safe haven to go to. “It sounds amazing. I would like to see it one day.” She opened her eyes and was looking at him waiting to see how he would react to that. She was still so unsure of how he felt about her and even perhaps how she felt about him. “I would love to bring you. I’m sure everyone will love you. Jax already seems to approve.” He chuckled. “Ok now my turn again. You said it was just you and your mom. Do you not know who your father is?” He asked carefully hoping he wasn’t touching a sensitive topic. “My mom knows. She doesn’t talk about it much, and I’ve never really asked, she always gets sad when she thinks about him. I don’t know if he is dead or if he just left her.” Alys had laid her head back again with her eyes closed. He decided to keep quiet for a bit thinking over everything she told him. He was guessing that the wolf side of her must be from her father. They needed to find out more, but how is he going to convince her to talk to her mom without sounding suspicious. This was getting more and more difficult. He’s going to have to tell her soon, and like his mom said just trust in the bond to help them through it. To convince her to leave with him she will need the entire story. ‘Jax, have you found anything out yet.’ He linked Jax taking the quiet moment to check in. ‘He stinks that’s for sure. It seems like he spent the night here last night in her bed. He might have been waiting for her to come home. Seems he got angry when she didn’t, the house has been trashed, there’s claw marks all over the walls, her things are in shreds. It’s not pretty. I’m just walking the neighbourhood right now. He was cutting through her backyard and her neighbours and it looks like he’s gone in the direction of the woods that starts a couple blocks over.’ Jax reported ‘Alright, come back here and check the perimeter just incase he went in the woods so we would lose his trail. First priority is to keep Alys safe. I think I we have to go talk to her mom. I think it is her dad that is a wolf.’ Aiden responded then closed the link, returning his attention to Alys. “Alys, I know we just met but, do you trust me?” Aiden asked, a touch of worry in his voice about her answer. She looked towards him opening her eyes again curiosity written across her face. “Yes.” She said simply and that simple word gave him the courage to go on. “I think we should go see your mom.” He stated and she gave him a strange look. “Why?” She asked. “You just need to trust me. Let’s go see your mom first, then I’ll explain why.” She nodded slowly then got up and stretched her arms above her head, which pulled his t-shirt tight exposing her bare stomach and showing off the curves of her breasts, he couldn’t help himself as he stood and pulled her into a passionate kiss crushing those beautiful breasts against his own chest, she let her arms fall around his neck kissing him back. She opened her mouth letting him deepen the kiss causing his d**k to twitch again and grow hard against his jeans. She moaned at the intensity of their kiss and he decided if he didn't stop now then he might not be able to at all, they really did need to go see her mom. He pulled away, but before stepping back he gave her a quick peck on the nose. “You are so beautiful.” He told her making her beam up at him. “Let’s go get you dressed and you can bring me to meet your mom.” He winked at her and she laughed. “Jeez talk about moving fast, two nights and I’m already introducing you to my parent.” She teased leading the way up to the bedroom. Aiden went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and tidy his hair as she got dressed into the skinny jeans and one of her new sweaters. He couldn’t help glancing in the mirror as she pulled on her jeans making her a** jiggle a little, he decided to look away then or else they wouldn’t make it to her mom’s house. She came into the bathroom with him and brushed her own teeth and threw her hair up into a quick bun and they were ready to go. He wasn’t going to lie, he was a bit nervous.
