I lay in the hospital bed, watching Alpha Abe bustie around, taking care of me.
His touch was gentle, his gaze focused, occasionally testing the food's temperature with the back of his hand.
That tenderness felt like a knife.

"Hungry, are you?”
He leaned in slightly, a hint of a doting smile playing on his lips.
" had the omega chef prepare bird's nest soup, your favorite."
He sat at the edge of the bed.
holding a bowl with his long fingers wrapped around a silver spoon.
Carefully, he blew on a spoonful, his eyes locked onto mine, bringing it to my lips.
I turned my head away, my hair brushing against his fingertips.“I don't want to eat.”
“Come on, sweetheart.”
He sighed, his free hand gently stroking my hair, his voice thick with concern.
"Knock, knock, knock..."
Gamma Audrey entered. she had come with me from Moon Frost City and was also a healer.
“Luna Daphne,how are you? I'm back from my mission here to take care of you." she winced at my gaunt face, her heart breaking. We had grown up together, and if it weren't for our close bond, she wouldn't have.willingly endured this hardship in as mall city.
“l missed you so much!"l burst into tears, burying my face in Gamma Audrey's embrace.
She patted my back gently, healing the damage within my wolf spirit-a warm current flowed through me.bringing some comfort to my body, but the pain in my heart remained untouched.
"it's okay, I'm here now, We'll face this together," Gamma Audrey offered guilt gnawing at her. if she hadn't been sent away by Aloha Abe, she would have been there to help with my baby's arrival. and none of this would have happened.
"You just lost a child, you need to replenish your strength, lt hurts me to see you like this, so please don't give me more to worry about.”
What a performance. His brow knitted with concern, eyes glistening even the trembling of his fingers was perfectly timed.
lf i hadn't heard him say those words with my own ears, l might have almost believed him.
Just then my phone rang.
He ficked his gone at the coil display, his frown deepening even mоre
“I’ve got to take this calf outside.there’s some business in the city.”
I nodded watching him leave.
He walked slowly, deliberately softening his footsteps, even closing the door carefully.
The moment the door clicked shut this voice slid through the crack
What had been that gentle tone suddenly shifted to one filled with cheer.
"Alice, don't worry, Everything’s token care of."
hie voice was laced with an unmistakable affection, an entirely different man.
“Our child will be the only heir of Moon shadow City: no one will be able to threaten him again."
He spoke with a hint of smugness.
"just focus on your recovery; once you're out of confinement, I'll bring you home.”
So while l was on the operating table fighting for my life, his first love was elsewhere, nurturing their child.
"What a jerk! l won't let this slide.Daphne, l'll help you get your revenge,Gamma Audrey whispered fiercely in my ear, trembling with anger at Alpha Abe's words.
The despicable betrayal, turning against his mate and harming his own flesh and blood-it was unforgivable!
I reached for my empty belly, my fingertips trembling ever so slightly, as pace that once held a small life.
But now, it was nothing.
Doctor Andy entered to change my bandages.Her gaze lingered on my face for a few seconds, filled with sympathy.
“Luna Daphne, I'm so sorry for your loss."
I managed a faint smile, the corners of my mouth just barely turning up.“Thank you.”
Doctor Andy bit her lip, twisting the hem of her shirt, hesitating before finally whispering, “Actually.. the baby was still salvageable in the beginning
I clenched the bed sheet tightly,knuckles turning white, as the fabric crumpled in my grip.
“I know." My voice was unnaturally calm, even frightening myself a little.
Doctor Andy was taken aback, here yes widening in surprise at my tranquility.
Moon Frost City had helped Moon Shadow City fend off attacks from the rogues,collaborating on food and resources.My leadership skills and judgment were unmatched, elevating Moon Shadow City's werewolves to a better life; my prestige rivaled that of Alpha Abe.
She looked around as though making sure no one was within earshot before leaning closer to my bedside.

As she organized the medicine at my bedside, her fingers trembled slightly. "she came in for a check-up a few days ago; l was the one who received her,"

Six months.
As l calculated, my nail unconsciously dug into my palm-it was exactly when l was pregnant.
No wonder during that time, Alpha Abe kept finding excuses to be away,occasionally, his clothes would carry unfamiliar perfume.

i laughed, tears streaming down my face, making Doctor Andy almost drop the medicine bottle.

“I'm fine. You can go back to what you were doing.”
Gamma Audrey took the tissue from her and gently dabbed my tears away.
“Daphne, don't worry. Moon Frost City will always have your back. If Alpha Abe could cheat on you unnoticed, it's likely he's up to something shady. I'm going to dig into this right now. Just take care of yourself; the show is about to begin,and we'll make him wish he was never born."
My voice was oerlly calm as l continued, "Also, look into omega Alice's whereabouts over the last few years." My fingers absently traced the edge of the sheet.
“And every instance of her meeting with Alpha Abe."
I wiped my tears dry, the corners of my mouth curling into a cold smirk.
Alpha Abe, aren't you the one who cares the most about your reputation and achievements?
Well, I'll make sure the world sees everything you hold dear turn to dust.
The esteemed Alpha of Moon Shadow City is a scoundrel who sacrificed his own child for a mistress.
Aren't you the one who adores omega Alice the most?
l'll make sure you see her collapse amidst everyone's scorn.

Outside the hospital room, the sun dipped below the horizon.
The crimson sunset blazed across the sky, reminiscent of that day when blood stained my dress.
Alpha Abe pushed the door open, a bouquet of roses in hand.
His steps were light, his face adorned with a gentle smile, as if the phone call had never even happened.
"Daphne, darling, don't be too sad."
He delicately placed the flowers on the bedside table, his long fingers tenderly arranging the petals.
once you're feeling better, how about we have another baby?
I looked into his caring eyes,noticing the tiny smile lines at the corners, and suddenly felt an urge to laugh.
Too bad you'll never have that chance.
From this day forward, l won't give you any opportunity to get close to me.
For every ounce of pain you've caused me, l will make you pay tenfold.
