685 Words
Selene entered the room with an air of quiet elegance. Her dress, a flowing masterpiece of midnight blue, embraced her figure perfectly, accentuating her every graceful movement. Her blonde hair danced with the gentle breeze that swept through the open windows, creating an ethereal aura around her. As she moved, the soft fabric of her gown seemed to respond to her every step, a dance of its own. The room fell hushed as Selene's entrance caught everyone's attention. The guests' gazes were drawn to her, captivated by her beauty and poise. Her eyes, the color of the clearest summer sky, wandered around the room in search of her friend Amara, the guest of honor. With a serene smile, Selene navigated the crowd with practiced grace, each step leaving an imprint of confidence and allure. Among the sea of faces, Selene finally spotted Amara, her radiant smile beaming beneath a delicate mask. In the corner of her eyes, she saw a comanding figure walking towards her, she felt her heart halt a bit but she didn't pay attention to it. Her main goal is Amara, for f**k's sake she's 3 hours late for the party! How she wish Amara won't be too offended by her late coming. She approached her friend, the center of the celebration, her heart brimming with warmth. "Amara," she greeted, her voice a melodic whisper amid the chatter. With a gift wrapped in shimmering paper, she extended her arms towards Amara, who welcomed her with an excited embrace. Amara laughed, her eyes twinkling with a mixture of surprise and delight. "Selene! I almost didn't recognize you with that mask on. You look stunning!" Her words were punctuated by a soft gasp as realization dawned upon her. "Oh, I would have been searching for you all night!" Amara pouted at her as she removed her mask. Selene chuckled, her own eyes glinting mischievously through the mask. "I'm sorry! I'm glad I found you first. You know how these parties can be." She leaned in slightly, a playful secret shared between them. "And I might have been a tad late." Amara giggled at her and raised an eyebrow playfully. "You are! Be glad you recognized me even with this mask on, 'cause if you didn't..." She squinted her eyes at her. "Do tell, what kept you? " Selene's lips curled into a smile. "Oh, just a little something important." She said. As the conversation continued, Selene and Amara caught up, their words an easy flow of shared stories and laughter. The bond between them was evident in their comfortable camaraderie. However, the joyous moment was brief, as other guests began to vie for Amara's attention. "I'd be very happy to keep talking to you until this party is over, but I'm affraid I'd have to greet my other guests and grace them with my beauty." She giggled at her, Selene knowingly nodded and smiled at her playfulness. "Ahh, you shall really go my blessed highness!" Selene joked back at her. They shared another hug before Amara went on her way. With Amara engaged elsewhere, Selene gracefully made her way to the refreshments table. She reached for a drink, taking a sip while her eyes scanned the room once more. The ambiance was enchanting, the celebration a true reflection of Amara's spirit. Amid the lively conversations and enchanting music, Selene found herself immersed in the magic of the night. She can see how some people are still looking at her, waiting for a chance to talk to her. Especially now that Amara is nowhere near her and she is very free to talk to, also, she wouldn't mind company. She tilted her head to the side as she turned her back from the table, on the corner of her eyes, the same commanding and strong figure she saw a couple of minutes ago, again, is walking towards her. Her heart started beating for an unknown reason. She cursed under her breath. "What the hell is wrong with me?" Her thoughts were cut short when a deep baritone voice echoed in her ears. "Would you mind?"
