Chapter 5

Hannah POV The following morning, a slight fog covered the grounds. I had just finished showering and was deciding on my outfit when I caught movement from the corner of my eye. I turned towards the window and saw a flash of color along the tree line. I watched a little closer and saw a man materialize from the trees. I had not seen this man before. He was tall but lean, dark hair that hung to his shoulders. He wore a black suit with a red kerchief in the front pocket. Who wears a suit when walking through the woods? He seemed to be staring right at my window. I stepped back while keeping an eye on him and watched him turn and briskly walk back into the tree line. The fog surrounding the trees, closing behind him to hide his trail. I made a mental note to ask Xander or Charlie if anyone in their pack likes to wear suits and walk through the woods before turning back to my mirror to finish getting ready for school. My phone dinged from my bedstand, and I made my way over to it. Chad: Hey girl, need a ride? Me: I was planning on walking. Chad: Can I pick you up and we grab breakfast on the way to school? Me: I like food. Chad: Sweet, see you in 5. 5 minutes did not give me much time to finish getting ready. I fluffed my hair, knowing it would air dry straight, and applied some mascara and lip gloss before grabbing my bookbag from the floor. I rushed down the stairs, almost bowling over Xander. "Woah there, where is the fire?" He asked in a teasing manner. "Sorry Xander, I'm meeting a friend for breakfast and am running late." I apologized as I ran past him. "Be careful!" He called after me as I heard Chad's truck nearing the house. I took a moment to steady my breath before opening the front door. I stepped outside and was dismayed to see Mom standing on the porch in her robe. "Mom, why are you standing out here in a robe?" Mom was warily watching Chad park his truck before turning to me. "Friend of yours?" I felt my face flush, "Uh yeah. Sorry. Do you remember Chad from school?" Mom frowned slightly before saying, "Mandy's boy?" Chad had joined us and responded for me, "Yep, Mrs. Parker. You got the right family." His grin was genuine as he approached. Mom nodded in his direction, and Chad took that as a hint to address me, "Are you ready?" "Yeah," I said, slowly watching my mom study us. I was waiting for her to argue against us leaving together. She just patted my shoulder and turned into the house. "Weird lady," I murmereed and heard Chad chuckle. "Come on, I could eat a horse." Chad held his hand out to me, and I hesitated before placing my hand in his. He led me to his truck and helped me into the beast of a vehicle. He rounded to his own side before starting it up again. "I hope the family restaurant is ok with you." He said. "Of course," I looked at my phone to see the time, "We should have plenty of time." His panty dropping grin was my reward for my words, "I agree completely." With that, we were well on our way to the local cafe. "Did you find out what was happening with Betty?" Chad asked as we neared the cafe. "I actually forgot to tell my mom about the issue in the first place. I will have to mention it tonight if she won't start today." Chad parked in front of the busy building, "Did you have things going on last night?" He opened his door, and I waited to respond until we were both out of the vehicle. Much like he did the afternoon before, he slid me along his body slowly as he helped me out of the truck. My heart rate picked up at his touch, and I thought I noticed heat in his gaze as he steadied me on my feet. He studied me, his face a breath away from mine, my brain short circuted. "Uh, sorry, what was the question?" He smirked, "Your eyes are amazing." He lowered his face and waited just near my lips as if waiting for me to push him away. When I didn't, he brushed his lips against mine gently before pulling me closer. I felt my arms go around his neck, and he groaned. His tongue darted out and skimmed my bottom lip. I opened my mouth slightly, and he dove in. His tongue filled my mouth, feeling around, stroking my tongue. He pulled away, and I flushed. "Hannah, you are one gorgeous creature." He placed a small kiss on my nose and held my hand, pulling me into the cafe. Honestly, it was good he was leading because I lost the ability to think. Daemon may have stolen a kiss here and there, but never did he try anything with heat behind it. I decided this would be considered my first real kiss. We were seated quickly and given menus. Coffee and water came to our table before we spoke again. "Did you get your chemistry homework finished last night?" Chad's voice broke the silence between us. "I had it done last week," I replied. He raised an eyebrow, "Why? It isn't due until today." I chuckled, "Because why wait when I can just get it done and forget it." He gave me a teasing smile, "I can't decide if you're just smart enough to get everything done, or bored, and you have nothing better to do." I scrunched my nose, "Why would it just be those two options? Maybe I knew I wouldn't have tons of time this week and decided to get it done early." Chad studied me a moment before saying, "Good point, well made. What was so busy about this week?" I had to pause. How do you address that you wanted to meet a werewolf king in a different country and got everything out of the way in the event you were allowed to go? I can't tell a human that. "I had family events happening." I settled with. HIs smirk told me he knew I was holding back a full story. I, however, was saved from further questions by our food arriving. I dug into the eggs and sausage skillet with gusto as Chad watched me in amusment. "What?" I asked around bites of food. "I guess I am not used to girls eating like a person." He responded. I rolled my eyes and took a sip of coffee, "Sorry but anyone who tries to live off water and coffee to look petite are idiots. f*****g eat like a woman and get those calories your body needs to actually work." Chad's bark of laughter startled me, but soon my giggles joined him. We finished our breakfast, paid, and headed to school. Chad parked and turned to me, "I really enjoy spending time with you, Hannah." I pushed a stray hair behind my ear. "Me too." He grinned and leaned in. Was he going in for another kiss? I sat dumbfounded and watched him place his lips against mine again. I just melted. I was lost to him until pounding on the door startled me from our moment. I could hear Mike and the rest of the football team heckling Chad from outside and flushed. 'Oh my god," I exclaimed. I grabbed my bag and threw open the door. "Hannah - wait!" Chad called out, but I was gone. I ran to homeroom as quickly as I could.
