Emily took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. She knew she couldn't evade this conversation any longer. As they sat across from each other in Daniel's office, an awkward silence hung in the air.

Daniel broke the silence, his voice calm but tinged with disappointment. "Emily, I never expected to find myself in a situation like this. We both made choices we may regret, but it's crucial that we address the consequences together."
