Chapter Three. Wedding Shopping

The next day I went to the salon to have a mini braid as instructed by maxwell
When I receive a call from an unknown number
“Hi Karina, it's Richard your ex”
“Hi Richard, but I wasn't expecting your call, and what's the call for? I thought we broke up?”
“Please calm down Karina and hear me out”
“I'm not here to disturb your peace, just try and keep calm with me”
“Okay it's fine I’m all hear”
Even though deep down I don't mean to spill out hard on him
I just doesn't want any feelings or string attached again so I can concentrate on my wedding
Because his love still lingers in my heart
“I called to inform you I fulfilled the promise I made to get you a jewelries for your last birthday”
“Jewelries? You mention?”
“Yes Karina, I know we broke up but I just had to fulfill my promise of getting you the jeweleries”
“Can I bring it over to you?”
“Or will you come over to my apartment and get it?”
“Celine’s boyfriend will be around so I wouldn't want you coming over”
“Maybe I will come but just outside your apartment”
“I hope that's fine?”
“Yes it's perfectly fine by me, lease I forget”
“Congratulations on your upcoming wedding”
“My wedding? And how did you get to know I am getting married?”
“I saw your pre-wedding post on the media, so I decided to greet you”
“Okay Thank you, see you tomorrow”
“Okay bye”
As the call ended, my stylist is already done braiding my hair
So I check it out in the mirror
“Wow, It's beautiful I so much like it, I said with a pretty smile on my face”
“I'm glad you liked it, and I hope to see you some other time ma'am, the stylist responded as I hand over a thousands of naira to her”
“Please keep the change for yourself”
“Thank you so much ma'am, see you next time”, she repeated as i left the saloon
Maxwell who was already waiting for me in the car, seems excited to see me with a new look
“You look just like an angel, so beautiful and glowing”
“The hair fits perfectly, I like it”
“Thank you", I said as I blushes”
In no time, we drove out of the salon compound to shop for my bridal clothings at bridals and more boutique
A young brown skin lady at the reception welcome us while the attendant walk us into the wedding dress closet
She brought out two dresses for me to test it in the changing room
I wore the dress and came out to show Maxwell how perfect the dress look on me
When I noticed he wasn't seated where I left him
“Where could he be?”, I look around before I asked the attendant standing next to me
“Who are you referring to?”, She asked
“My fiancee, we came here together”
“Like he was seated over there when I went into the changing room”
“Ooh you mean the tall, fair man?”
“Yes please”
“I think he should be over there, she said pointing towards the bridal purse session of the shop”
“He left with a lady I think, but you can check him”
I hurriedly removed the wedding dress and walk towards the session when I met Maxwell looking lustfully and collecting another lady's contact
“Maxwell”, I called out to him
He turned seems surprise he held my hand, walking me out of that session to the wedding dress session
“What are you doing there?”
“And who is she?”
“You have nothing to worry about babe, she is just a friend”
“A friend? When we shop for my wedding clothes?”
“But I thought we were checking out the dress together until I came out of the changing room to find you?”
“Babe, she is just a friend okay?”
“You don't have to be bothered about that”
“Let's go and pay for the dress you choose and other items”
I reluctantly followed him to the cashier as he paid for all the items
I choose one wedding dress, two after party dress, two heels, two purse, and a wrist watch
All tested and perfectly fit on me
We went ahead to the make up studio to book a session
And I ordered a factory wig raw donor to complement my beauty and look
Offcourse it's my big day so I had to look extremely beautiful
After everything, Maxwell drove down to my apartment
He assist me with my boxed items and other luggages from the car
By this time Celine was already waiting at the doorstep expecting my arrival
On seeing me she was so excited, she greeted Maxwell and assisted with the luggages
After which Maxwell started the engine and drove off
We packed the items inside the room as we start unboxing Celine couldn't even wait for the next day to check out my clothings
The wedding gown was fitted with removable long flay yard at the back and a removable utter neck
It comes along with a veil, a flower, bridal fan and some other wedding accessories
Then I unbox my heels for Celine to see when she shouted
“What?”, I'm asked seems curious about the shout
“This is so beautiful Karina, honestly if you wouldn't be putting this on for your wedding I would have taken it for myself”
“Because what a damn beauty is this heel”
“What's your size?”
“That's size 39 it has 40 as well but 39 fits perfectly on me”
“How about the second heel? She stretched forth her hand to pick the second box”
“This is my after party heel as it's so beautiful too”
“Do you like it?”, I asked celine
“Just take a look at the way am looking at it, I can literally snatch it from you”
“They so fine honestly”
After I unbox the third items, I couldn't resist to sleep as my eyes are already heavy
I freshen up and lay on my bed as I reflect on my whole day
The whole scene that happened at the wedding shop still baffles me
How could my fiance, who will soon be called my husband, go after another lady while shopping for my wedding dress?
I couldn't raise up the issue again since he told me the lady was just his friend
So I am forced to be an understanding fiancee even though the scene isn't right
Hopefully I just hope am taking the right decision getting married to a man I barely know that much
And even apart from the fact that I barely knew him much there are still some aspect I seems not so clear about him
My wedding is taking place in some few days and here am having a second thought about the man am about to marry
Living all my whole life with a relationship I don't know so well
I was deep in my thoughts when Celine pushed the door open
“You aren't sleeping yet?”, She asked as she climbed the bed sitting next to me
“Not yet Celine”
“Is there anything you are thinking about or you seem bothered?”
“Nothing at all for now, I think am fine”
“Okay please make sure you fine as your wedding is nearer than ever”
“Your big day, the most happiest day of your life, you need to rest well so you can glow effortlessly”
The more Celine say all these, the more it feels like a heavy burden in my heart
I couldn't spill it out, no one would want to hear me out or consider my opinion now that my wedding is just some days
“How's your boyfriend when did he leave the house?”, I asked to divert the topic
“He is good, he left at noon time after we had a nice day together” she replied blushing
“I can see obviously you had a very nice time with him, see the way you blushing”
“Yes definitely, firstly we discussed about your wedding”
“Is he attending?”
“Of course he would be in attendant, before traveling for his business trip”
“And secondly we discussed about our clothing's together, the colour and pattern”
“Okay that's fine then”
“Yes, but what colour of after party dress do you choose?”
“It's golden, so I will pair it with a black heel and a black purse”
I was in gisting term with Celine when I receive a text message from Maxwell
“Hi babe,
I hope you have a great day with me today hoping you already in bed that's why I don't call to avoid disturbing you
I decided to text and inform you am home already, take care of yourself and sleep tight, bye”
After I read the message I replied
“Thank you, love, sweet dreams and sleep tight”
By then Celine has walked out of my room into her room
So I just turned off the lamp and forced myself to bed.
