06: Second Week

Monday. The day everyone hates. "Please agree. I promise you it won't be hard at all." I barely stepped inside the school, but TJ is already bugging me. People are starting to give us looks. But still, I ignored him like I have been doing to his texts and calls. I just continued walking to my classroom but he still didn't stop bothering me. "It's not like you'll be alone. I'll help you!" Even now that we're in our seats, he still hasn't stopped persuading me. I never thought I'd wish for a teacher to come to class early, but here I am. Silently praying for sir Joseph to appear so that I won't have to hear TJ anymore. "Guys, sir won't be able to come to class today." Uni Sheanne, our class representative announced Just my luck. "Does that mean we have no class?" "Can we go to the cafeteria?" "We should stay at the garden." The class became chaotic. "Class!" Sheanne shouted, making everyone go silent. "Please take your seats and let me finish my announcement." Her aura was terrifying. Even I got intimidated. "Thank you for following instructions." She then smiled. How scary. "As I was saying earlier, sir won't be able to attend his class with us today. However, he left us a task to do." Most of the students groaned, but the moment Sheanne glared at them, they immediately sat up straight and changed their expression into a serious one. "Wow. Nice." TJ sounded like he was genuinely at awe. "Do you think I should be like her as the club president? Maybe then, even the king and queen will respect me." "It doesn't fit you." I answered mindlessly He then smiled. "You finally responded." I rolled my eyes. I forgot that I was ignoring him. "Sheanne is giving out the papers." I just said as our class representative I didn't waste any time and immediately put all my attention to the paper when it reached my hand. Mathematics. Integers. Sets. I'm never good at this subject, but I'm not bad at it either. I'm capable of answering the questions, but it gives me a headache after. The task was a short and simple one. It was a seatwork with ten questions and I finished it without a major problem. "Are you done, miss Hendrix?" I flinched a little when Sheanne called me. "Yes." I answered She then walked to me and asked for my paper. I didn't say a word and just submitted it to her. She also didn't say a word anymore and just walked back to her table while scanning my paper. Is she allowed to do that? Doesn't she have the same task to do? "Nice work, miss Hendrix. I didn't know that you're good at math." She suddenly said I didn't say anything. Well, more like, I don't know what to say to her. "Because yoy finished early, you can go ahead and do anything you want, which is probably reading." I nodded, giving her an answer that she's right. After that, I did make use of the time to read. As I picked up my book and opened it, I sensed TJ turning his head to me. "Finish the task. Sheanne might kill you." I whispered without giving him a look "That seems like a new book. Is that new?" He asked instead I just shook my head in disapproval of his action. I probably shouldn't talk to him more until he finishes the task. I don't wanna get in any trouble. "What do you say we go to the cafeteria after I finish this? I'll talk to Sheanne." "How about this? Why don't you finish that first before you negotiate with me?" I countered in a whisper, still not sparing him a look "Hmm, good point." I heard him say and he finally went quiet after that I thought I was gonna be able to enjoy my reading for at least a little while, but just after a minute, TJ raised his paper and called for Sheanne. "Miss Sheanne, I'm done with my task." How is he done already? "Are you sure with your answers?" Sheanne asked him as she scans his paper "Nope." TJ answered immediately. "But now that I'm done, I can do whatever I want, right?" "That's not really how it works, but what do you want?" Sheanne seemed confused, but she's just going with the flow "I want to go to the cafeteria." He answered and looked at me. "With Shara." "Ooh." Our classmates cooed "Focus on your tasks!" Sheanne scolded them and it worked like a charm "Since we're both done with the tasks, there's no problem with that, is there?" TJ continued "Okay, sure. As long as she's okay with it, then do it." Sheanne answered. "Just be back before the next subject, or else, there will be consequences for the two of you." In the end, TJ won. Now we're in the cafeteria eating cheesecake together. "Why don't you just become the scriptwriter?" I started the topic, since I figured that I won't be able to escape him anymore "Because I'm already the director." He answered. "I don't want to make you the director because that job will need you to interact with our actors, so I took it." "Are you saying that your only choices are the two of us?" "Yeah." He shrugged. "The only ones I trust for now are us. Plus, I believe that you'll do a good job at being the scriptwriter." "Why? Because I read?" I chuckled "Basically, yes. You already know a lot of stories, so I'm pretty sure that you won't have any problem at writing your own story." He explained. "And like I said before, you won't be alone. I'll share my ideas too. Though I know my ideas won't be anything great. The point is, I'll help you. And if the time comes that you'll be comfortable enough to work with our other members, then I'm sure that they'll help you too." With his explanation, it doesn't seem bad at all. That, or he's just really good at persuading people. "Fine. I'll do it." The moment I said that, his lips curved into a big smile.
