"You alright?" I asked TJ
We're currently in Lyla's place. Everyone seems to be enjoying the party, but TJ was just sitting quietly on the garden.
"Yeah. I guess."
I haven't known him that long, but I know him enough to know that he's not alright.
"Is there something bothering you?" I asked as I took a seat beside him
He then sighed. "I don't think Romeo and Julio should be our first play. It's our first play! We should do something safe and not something bold!"
"But that's not what everyone else thinks."
"I know, but our club means so much to me that I want it to do great." He said. "I'm torn between doing what I think would be good for our club and doing what our club members want."
"Well, do you know that most popular authors have a similar struggle?"
"Really? How?"
"When the story is really great, the readers would want things to happen, but the authors already have a plot that they follow." I answered. "So they get torn between following their original plot and following what their readers want."
"What do they usually do?"
"Beats me." I shrugged. "Following their original plot will satisfy their own idea, but following what the readers want will satisfy their reader."
He kept quiet and thought about my words.
"So TJ, what do you wanna do? Do you wanna satisfy your own idea? Or do you wanna satisfy our club members?" I asked
He scoffed and smiled right after.
"Just like I said earlier, our club means so much to me, and our club will be nothing without our club members." He answered. Now he seems better. "Thanks for the talk, Shara."
"No problem."
"But I thought you don't like interacting with people? Does that mean I'm an exception?" He suddenly teased
"Don't go ahead of yourself." I said. "I would've read my book instead of talking to you, but locked our bags in her room."
"Aww. It's still books over people?"
"Always." I answered. "Anyways, what time do you think she'll let us go home?"
"I don't really know. Why?"
"I told my mom this morning that I won't be able to come home early because of a club activity. She'll doubt me if I come home really late."
"You told her that you joined a club?"
"Yeah. She was surprised."
"I bet." He chuckled
"But that's not the point. Wouldn't your parents be mad if you come home late?"
"I'm a free man." He replied. "But why don't we look for Lyla and ask for the key to her room so that you can go home?"
"It's crowded inside. There's too many people. She said it's a party for our club, but it seems like she invited everyone in our school."
"Well, she's the queen of the campus." He joked. "Here's what we'll do; I'll look inside and you look here outside. Let's just text each other for updates. Sounds good to you?"
"Doesn't sound bad."
"Cool."
After that, we immediately followed his plan and looked for Lyla. He went inside the house while I stay outside and walk around.
I wasn't expecting to find Lyla, because I figured that she'll be inside. It's her party.
So I was surprised when I saw her and Alex on the backyard. Lyla looks mad and they seem to be fighting.
"You didn't even say a thing to defend me! You just watched there! In front of everyone!" She was shouting at her boyfriend
I just hid beside the wall. It's probably best that they don't
"I don't get why you're making this a big deal. Tracy is your president and he was just simply telling you what to do. That's the way it is. Presidents tell their members what to do."
They're fighting because of what happened in the meeting earlier?
"Oh, so just because he's the president, you're gonna let him embarrass me in front of the whole club? Is that how it's gonna be?"
"He didn't embarrass you, but you were embarrass because you're not used to being told of what to do. This one is completely on you because you're the one who wanted to join that club. It's your idea! Now be responsible about it."
"Can't you just be a good boyfriend and comfort me? Be sorry even if you're not, fake it to at least make me feel better! Why can't you do that? Why do you have to be a jerk instead?!"
"I'm being a jerk?!" Alex scoffed. "No Lyla, you're being a b***h about something I shouldn't be involved with to begin with. It's your club. It's your thing."
"I hate you!!"
"Well, I'm out of here. Call me if you're not in your bitchy mood anymore." Alex said and prepared to leave
"Yeah! Go somewhere I can't see you!" Lyla seems so mad at him
He then walked away without looking back at her.
"AHH!!" Lyla screamed her lungs out when he was no longer on sight
I bet no one from the inside heard it because of the loud music. Everyone's having fun, but the host of the party is not.
I just sighed and felt sad for Lyla.
"You were eavesdropping?!"
I didn't notice that she was already in front of me, and she doesn't seem happy about seeing me.
"I wasn't. I was just looking for you so I can ask for the key to your room so that I can grab my stuff and go home." I defended myself. "I really didn't mean to hear all that."
The last sentence came out as a whisper, but it looks like she heard it loud and clear.
"You better keep quiet of what you heard or I'm gonna make your life a living hell." She threatened and and threw me her key before heading inside
At least she didn't decide to make my life a living hell now.
Remembering TJ's plan, I then took out my phone and texted him that I got the key. I need to get out here now. Lyla scares me.
