On the following morning Cassidy arrived at the depot and found a mechanic working on the bus. The mechanic was from a nearby auto-repair shop and was probably getting paid by the hour. He watched the mechanic for a while and then he told the mechanic to step aside. It was carburetor trouble. The mechanic had complicated it and made it worse and now it presented a serious problem.
