THE SILENT INVASION
Commander Megan walked through the ancient corridors of the Midnight Pack House without slowing his pace.
Beside him, the beautiful woman who had once appeared as an elderly Redclaw shaman moved with graceful confidence, her dark robes replaced by flowing garments that concealed both her figure and the countless secrets she carried.
No one looking at her now would ever believe she had entered Midnight disguised.
The silence between them stretched.
Yet unlike a visitor admiring unfamiliar surroundings...
She was observing….. Studying……. Measuring.
Her eyes drifted over everything.
The disciplined rotations of Midnight warriors.
The towering stone pillars engraved with generations of the Blackthorne Alpha bloodline.
The synchronized movements of servants.
The unwavering vigilance of guards stationed in every corridor.
Not a single soul wandered without purpose.
Not a single order went unanswered.
She smiled.
"So..."
Her voice was soft.
"So this is why Alpha Darius wants this place."
Megan remained silent.
She continued walking, her gaze lingering on the banners bearing the Blackthorne crest.
"Not because of wealth."
Her smile deepened.
"There are richer packs."
She glanced toward the bustling training grounds beyond an open archway.
"There are larger packs."
Another pause.
"But there isn't another pack like Midnight."
For the first time since escorting her inside, Megan felt genuine unease.
She wasn't admiring the Pack House.
She was memorizing it.
Every turn…… Every entrance.
Every patrol……. Every tower.
Every guard rotation.
Every blind corner.
His wolf stirred uneasily beneath his skin.
Exactly...
Who and what is this woman up to?
He stopped walking.
"Enough."
She turned gracefully.
His expression had hardened.
"I've done my part."
His voice carried the authority of Midnight's strongest commander.
"I opened the gate."
"I brought you inside."
"Now keep your part of the agreement."
Her lips curled slightly.
"Easy, Commander."
"My son is dying."
The words came sharper this time.
"There will be no games."
A powerful wave of Alpha-command aura rolled unconsciously from him.
Not enough to dominate her.
But enough to remind anyone before him exactly why he was feared across neighboring packs.
The woman merely watched him.
Then...
She laughed…… Not mockingly.
Almost… Curiously.
"So..."
"The legendary Midnight Blade..."
"...can still become nothing more than a frightened father."
Those words struck deeper than any blade, because they were true.
For the first time in years...
Commander Megan wasn't thinking like Midnight's greatest warrior.
He was thinking like a father.
Slowly, the woman reached into her sleeve.
She withdrew a small crystal vial.
Inside swirled a strange silver-crimson liquid.
The substance moved unnaturally, as though alive.
She held it between two fingers.
"The antidote."
Megan's breathing steadied.
She continued.
"One drop."
"No more."
"This poison was born from the Bloodroot Hex of the Crimson Moon..."
"...an ancient Redclaw shamanic curse infused with refined Wolfbane, Moonshade Resin, and Blood Runes known only to our shamans."
"It was never created to kill."
"It was created to silence."
"Even the strongest Alpha's wolf would feel its burden."
She extended the vial.
"Fortunately for your son..."
"The cure still belongs to Redclaw."
Megan snatched the antidote without another word.
Relief flooded him.
His child… His son...
would live.
Already turning away, one thought crossed his mind.
Alpha Kael's bloodline was unlike any other.
Even if this woman dared remain inside the Pack House...
She would never escape.
Without him shielding her presence, every unfamiliar scent would soon be noticed.
The Pack itself would reject her.
His Alpha's overwhelming wolf aura alone could crush even powerful shamanic magic.
She had already lost.
Without looking back again...
Commander Megan disappeared into the corridors.
Running.
Running toward the one battle no sword could win.
Saving his son.
The woman remained exactly where she was.
Watching him vanish.
Then...
She smiled.
This time...
It wasn't gentle.
It was victorious.
"The first piece," she whispered.
"...has moved."
A soft sound reached her ears…. Footsteps.
She turned.
One of Midnight's maidens approached carrying folded linens.
The young omega lowered her head respectfully.
"My lady…"
She never finished.
The woman's hand rose.
Not quickly…… Simply… Gracefully.
Dark crimson runes shimmered briefly beneath her fingertips.
The omega froze.
Her pupils widened.
Her wolf fought instinctively against the invading force.
For a heartbeat...
She resisted.
Then her knees weakened.
Her breathing slowed.
Her body collapsed silently into waiting arms.
The woman caught her before she struck the floor.
"Sleep."
The single word carried ancient authority.
The unconscious omega never moved again.
The woman knelt beside her.
Placed one palm against the maiden's forehead.
The runes glowed brighter.
Hair lengthened.
Facial features shifted.
Eye color changed.
Even the scent changed.
Moments later...
There were no longer two women.
Only one.
Omega Dawn.
One of Midnight's trusted royal maidens.
Every detail was perfect.
Voice……. Appearance…… Wolf scent.
Even her heartbeat.
The shaman had shifted his form from the beautiful woman into Omega Dawn,
Leaving her lifeless on the ground by a corner.
The real Dawn remained hidden beneath an illusionary veil woven by Redclaw's forbidden shamanic craft.
The false Dawn rose gracefully.
Straightened her clothing.
And smiled.
No one...
Would question her.
The Royal Quarters bustled with quiet preparation.
Warriors stood at attention.
Servants arranged the evening meal.
As Omega Dawn approached, familiar faces greeted her warmly.
"Dawn."
"Is the meal ready?"
She bowed politely.
"Everything has been prepared."
Another servant smiled.
"Our Luna will be pleased."
Without hesitation...
She entered the private dining chamber.
The long table had already been laid.
Fresh meat.
Mountain herbs.
Warm bread.
Everything worthy of the Alpha Bloodline.
She looked around.
Empty….. Perfect…… Slowly...
She raised one elegant hand above the meal.
Dark crimson mist seeped from her fingertips.
Invisible…. Odorless…… Ancient.
The mist settled gently over every dish.
Then it disappeared completely.
Beneath the meal now rested the Bloodroot Hex of the Crimson Moon,
a forgotten Redclaw shamanic curse infused with refined Wolfbane, Moonshade Resin, and Blood Runes.
Not powerful enough to kill.
Far more dangerous than that.
Powerful enough to suppress even the overwhelming wolf aura of an Alpha descended from the Blackthorne bloodline.
For just long enough...
To change the fate of an entire pack.
The false Dawn lowered her hand.
A satisfied smile touched her lips.
"It is done."
She stepped outside the chamber just as footsteps echoed through the corridor.
She bowed her head.
"My Alpha."
"My Luna."
Alpha Kael Blackthorne approached beside Luna Seraphine.
The commanding presence of the Midnight Alpha seemed to fill the corridor itself.
Even without releasing his aura, everyone instinctively straightened as he passed.
Seraphine smiled gently.
"Dawn."
The disguised shaman lowered her head.
"Yes, my Luna?"
Seraphine studied her for a brief moment.
"Your scent carries unfamiliar herbs."
For the smallest fraction of a second...
The disguised shaman's heart stilled.
Then she smiled apologetically.
"Forgive me , my Luna."
"The healers prepared a stronger herbal remedy for my fever this morning."
"The scent has lingered longer than expected."
Seraphine's expression softened.
"Then after tonight's duties, you should rest."
"You've served this Pack faithfully."
The disguised woman bowed once more.
"Thank you, my Luna."
Kael gave a brief nod.
"Come."
Together...
The Alpha and his mate turned toward the dining chamber.
The disguised shaman watched them go.
Her smile slowly returned.
Patient….. Certain…… Satisfied.
Neither did the mighty Alpha Kael Blackthorne...
Nor Luna Seraphine...
Knew that beneath the aroma of a carefully prepared royal meal lay an ancient curse crafted not to end an Alpha's life...
But to silence the wolf that had protected Midnight for generations.
Far beyond Midnight's borders...
Under the crimson banner
s of Redclaw...
Alpha Darius Dravenor stood beneath the moonlight.
He closed his eyes.
As though he could already hear destiny shifting.
A slow smile crossed his face.
"The first lock..."
he murmured.
"...has finally opened."
