Chapter 7: Night Cat Demon

"Honor" directly supports voice communication, and it's highly realistic, with only one channel: Current. The distance between characters directly affects the volume of the voice, and the game has its own set of calculations for sound propagation. There is no background music in the game; instead, various realistic sound effects like the rustling of leaves and other environmental sounds create an immersive experience, especially when using headphones. The person shouting was likely Moonlit Sleeper, as Ye Xiu could see the system prompt for the appearance of the hidden boss, Night Cat Demon. After typing a casual "hehe," Ye Xiu heard Moonlit Sleeper's voice saying, "Speak! Why are you typing?" "Somebody's sleeping, inconvenient to talk," Ye Xiu replied, continuing to smoke a cigarette. Moonlit Sleeper seemed to understand and asked about the others. After the other three players spoke, Moonlit Sleeper expressed disappointment, saying, "No pretty girls, huh!" In a burst of laughter, the team moved forward. Green Forest is a small instance for new players to familiarize themselves with the game. The difficulty level can't be that high, especially with Moonlit Sleeper, who clearly isn't a novice, leading the way. Ye Xiu had the healer, Smiling, use two healing spells at the beginning, but Moonlit Sleeper quickly reassigned him to be a pure support. In such low-level instances, there was no need for the traditional tank-healer-DPS composition, but Moonlit Sleeper seemed accustomed to this setup and continued directing the team accordingly. As they slaughtered monsters with the sounds of battle and the cheers of teammates, Ye Xiu's mind began to wander. When was the last time he went on a dungeon run with friends? Such a feeling seemed to have been absent for a long time. Watching the monsters fall one by one, Ye Xiu's mind wandered, recalling adventures in the Green Forest, even going as far back as ten years ago. That good friend he met when Glory first launched, the one who stayed up all night discussing the game's innovation and future. He saw through everything, predicted everything, planned everything. Yet, everything crumbled due to an unexpected update, turning dreams and hopes into nothing but illusions. Only the unfinished Thousand Chance Umbrella remained. "You were supposed to be the most talented and accomplished in Glory..." Ye Xiu's fingers lightly glided over the keyboard. With a slight shake of the mouse, he took out a cigarette from his pocket, placed it in his mouth, and lit it. Other teammates chatted, and Ye Xiu's attention returned. Suddenly, he heard a rapid rustling sound from the edge of the forest. "It's here," Ye Xiu shouted quickly, but he was still holding a cigarette! At the same time, he pressed a couple of keys, and Lord Grim turned around, aiming directly at the approaching Night Cat Demon. Seeing Ye Xiu's actions, the others knew this silent comrade had spoken at a critical moment. "Retreat!" Moonlit Sleeper yelled, intending to be the first target of Night Cat Demon. The other three players stepped back, aligning themselves with Smiling and standing beside Ye Xiu. Everyone held their breath, focusing on their surroundings. "Yang Guan, stop looking at the sky; Night Cat Demon won't fall from there," Moonlit Sleeper said suddenly, criticizing Yang Guan for frequently looking upward. In Glory, a first-person perspective game, characters naturally looked up when adjusting the view. Moonlit Sleeper noticed that Yang Guan kept looking up and couldn't help but comment. "Ahaha," laughter echoed as everyone watched and listened. However, Ye Xiu suddenly heard a rapid rustling sound from the edge of the forest, and the laughter ceased. "Why is...?" Yang Guan, the player named Yang Guan, began to ask, but a black shadow had already flown out from the woods. Accompanied by a sharp cat cry, it launched its first attack directly at Moonlit Sleeper. "Here it comes!" Moonlit Sleeper wasn't afraid at all, swinging his sword immediately. Night Cat Demon was small in size, fast, and this type of monster really tested a player's precise control. Everyone had seen the skill of these four players, and Ye Xiu had suspected that in the end, Moonlit Sleeper might end up taking the aggro during the healing process. However, he didn't expect Moonlit Sleeper to persist in confronting Night Cat Demon head-on, and the counterattacks seemed somewhat hesitant. "Out of mana?" Ye Xiu scanned the team panel; it didn't seem to be the issue. So, Moonlit Sleeper suddenly seemed a bit underwhelming. Ye Xiu was about to remind him when Moonlit Sleeper shouted, "Damn it, I have aggro!"
