Chapter 2

Gwen I woke up the next morning and checked my phone, anxious that I'd see a text from Justin canceling our training session today, but all I saw was a text from Jordan saying she'd miss me at training today. I felt wide awake this morning, despire staying up until midnight texting Justin. Before last night, he and I had never really talked but now I couldn't get enough of our conversations. I got up and dressed quickly, putting on a little bit of makeup just to make sure I made a good impression. I could feel Akira rolling her eyes at me but I couldn't help it. I really liked Justin. I got into my car and headed towards the Alpha's private gym in the packhouse. I had never been there before but I'd heard that it was huge and better equipped than our regular pack gym. That was a perk of being the Alpha, you got better training, better equipment, better everything. I parked in front of the packhouse and walked to the side door to the gym, my stomach turning itself in knots. Gwen, stop being a drama queen Akira snapped at me, take a breath before you vomit. Goddess. Akira definintely wasn't a morning person, she never had been. I could practically feel her eyes rolls. Sorry, grumpy, I'm nervous. Akira just snorted and settled down in the recesses of my mind. I took a deep breath and pulled open the door. Here goes nothing I thought to myself. Justin was standing the middle of the room, stretching. He had on a pair of athletic shorts and a tank top. I could see his muscles straining as he stretched and I couldn't help but stare. He managed to have that perfect balance of muscled and tones. His arms were clearly defined but not bulky and when he stretched up to the sky I caught a peek of his abs. I guess sometimes the Goddess does give with two hands my wolf's voice startled me out of my trance. She most definitely does. That man is FINE. Akira panted in agreement, filling my mind with all the places she wanted to lick and touch him. Akira! I admonished, Cut it out! I need to train with him. She sent an image of Justin pinning me to the floor with his body. There's only one type of training I'm interested in, Gwen. I chuckled at my horny wolf. "Gwen! Hey I didn't see you come in." Justin's voice cut through my dirty thoughts. "Hey! Don't worry, I haven't bee here long. I was just taking a look at everything." I was praying he couldn't tell that my face was flushed. "See anything you like?" He asked with a wink. I blinked a few times. Was he flirting with me? Gwen. Answer him. What are you doing? Akira hissed at me. "Uh yea....your equipment is...cool" I wanted to sink into the floor out of embarressment. Nice going, smooth girl I could hear Akira's disappointment. "Well thanks....I guess." Justin chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck "So, lets get started. I noticed yesterday that when you spar with someone, especially if they're bigger than you, you tend to do more defense. You dance a lot on your toes and try to stay out of shot. But that's a tiring way to fight because it drags it on longer." Justin's voice faded away in my mind as I started picturing our lives together. Our mating ceremony that the whole pack would attend and me, pregnant with our pups, running the pack by his side. Our kids, with my red hair and his blue eyes, becoming Alphas and Lunas of their own packs. I was so focused on my daydream that I had stopped listening to Justin. "Ok, so does that make sense?" Justin looked at me expectantly. "Uh yea. Totally. That makes complete sense." I nodded my head, even though I had no idea what he was talking about. "Good! Are you ready to try it out?" he led me to the sparring mat in the corner. I gulped and nodded again, not trusting myself to speak. Justin and I sparred for an hour before he called a water break. I was sweaty and sore but Akira and I were feeling accomplished. In our last two rounds we had managed to merge our strengths in human form and pin Justin. Merging our strengths without shifting was something my dad had been trying to teach us for years but, in his words, "you don't get it until you get it". Justin came up and bumped me with his shoulder, "You're starting to look pretty good out there. I noticed the last time you pinned me that your eyes were different colors. One was hazel and one was brown. Were you merged with your wolf?" "Yea! Today is actually the first time I've been able to do that!" I gushed. "That's really impressive, Gwen. Most female wolves don't master that until they're in their 30's" He fixed me with such an intense stare, I could feel my face heating. "Well I'm not likc other girls" I joked, trying to lighten the tension a little. "I'm started to get that" Justin said lowly, brushing a piece of hair out of my face. Keeping his hand on my cheek, he leaned in slowly like he was about to kiss me. I closed my eyes and BZZZ BZZZZ BZZZZZ my phone started buzzing from the chair in the corner. Justin dropped his hand and I opened my eyes. "You should probably get that" he said, clearing his throat. I ran to my phone and answered it "What do you want?" I snapped, breathlessly. "Whoa" Jordan's voice came through the other end of my phone, "I was just trying to see if you were on your way to the cafe. We're supposed to be grabbing coffee, remember?" I slapped my face with my hand "s**t, babe, I'm sorry. I got caught up with something. I'll be there in like 5 minutes" I ended the call and turned to Justin. "You're leaving?" He sounded disappointed. "Yea I made plans with Jordan that I completely spaced on." I took a few steps closer to him, craving the feeling of his hand on my cheek, "I had a really great time today, Justin. Thank you" I stared up at him, willing him to finish what he started but he just stood there, staring at me. "I had a really good time too, Gwen. You're definitely not like any other girl I've met. There's something special about you, I can't describe it." He brushed another strand of hair off my face and trailed his hand down my cheek and arm until he had my hand. He brought it up to his lips and quickly kissed it. "I'll see you Saturday, right?" I was so focused on the feeling of his lips on me that I didn't hear his question. 'What? Saturday?" I knew I looked like a complete i***t. "My birthday party? You said you and Jordan were coming." "Oh! Yea I'll see you Saturday!" "Good." Justin shot me a wink as I turned and walked away. I had an insane urge to run back and tackle him, knocking him to the ground and kissing him until he couldn't see straight. Akira, we're in big trouble. My wolf just grumbled in agreement.
