Chapter 20

As Rossetta left her doorway, Isis settled down to study once more. But she remembered that she had something even more important to do which would otherwise jeopardize her whole mission of freeing the girls from their bondage on earth as spirits. Isis called Gruffy in her mind and felt Gruffy’s ears perking up at her beckoning. She was soulfully attached to them now in a way that if she wanted she could track their bodies’ movements too. Gruffy immediately ran upstairs and came to her room. Isis sat down on her haunches and asked,” Can you smell her over me?” Gruffy nodded her head indicating that he did. Isis said, ”Sniff me all over and remember this odour. We need to find this tonight.” Gruffy started sniffing her as instructed. Isis felt a bit tickly but that was fun. Finally when Gruffy was done sniffing, he gave a long slobbering lick on her face and started wagging his tail. Isis caught hold of his face and started muzzling his nose with hers and kissed right on his snout. “Now be a good boy and go to Grandma Brassia. She is training no? She doesn’t like to wait at all. Go boy, and make mummy proud,” said Isis nuzzling her cheek to his muzzle. Gruffy wagged his tail and trotted back to the basement. Isis went back to the book whose pages were older than probably even Grandma Brassia. The potions and the objects that she needed to find out the unmarked graves of the girls were not in store and she would have to make those. She kept on reading until she found that the sun had set down and the whole sky had taken over a mauve hue, and was streaked with golden and red. A fire-breathing ball was going to rest again to glow the next morning to take away the darkness that shrouded his lover, the earth. Isis thought that the night was not as dark as much darkness she was finding in people’s heart in the last few days. There was so much to know, there was so much to see. And people do not understand that the darkness that was inside their hearts was far more harming them than anything darker on outside. Nothing from outside was required to frighten or scare anyone because the fear inside their hearts was so great that nothing more was needed to keep them shackled up. And since the time Isis was aware of her darker powers she had started finding the beauty in everything that was dark and not accepted by the society. Rossetta came to her room and put on the light finding that Isis was sitting at the table in dark looking out of the window. “Not studying? I have brought your glass of milk sweetie,” said Rossetta. “You mean poison right?” asked Isis with a smile. “Of course dear. You are an enigma for whom poison is as pure as milk. Trust me Isis, your mother will be proud of you really. The speed at which you are developing your powers is astounding,” praised Aunty handing her over the glass of bluish green liquid. “I know that my mother was weak sorceress, there is nothing to be ashamed for this,” said Isis. “Listening to other people’s conversations is not something that I taught you but again you need to know about your mother. Your urge for knowing her is absolutely normal, so I don’t blame you but you could have asked me before pre-judging her Isis,” said Rossetta. “It is not that Aunty that I have any kind of pre-conceived notion about her, but I couldn’t ask you about her because I felt that probably I would be touching a raw nerve. You already have had a lot on your plate with me coming out as a Necromancer and I didn’t want to disturb you anymore,” said isis taking a gulp of the poison. “Knowing about your mother, her life, what she faced is something that you should be inquisitive of, that is not only natural but also it is your birthright. So it would not be a burden to me more than it can be a burden to you. Cattaleya was a weak sorceress with one of the strongest powers that anyone could ever possess. The battle that raged inside her had tortured her soul all her life. The only time I found her at peace was when she was pregnant, probably that was the toughest time of her life but the inner peace which she had acquired at that time I could not place a finger on. The witches who practice light magic shun away from those who practice dark one or even those who have the dark power. When Leya came of age, she couldn’t understand that she had the power of death and even without knowing it she had killed a small rabbit that she used to feed every day. One moment she was petting the small ball of fur, and the next moment she found that it had died in her hands. She was screaming hysterically when it happened and she brought the dead body back home sobbing to our mother. Our mother knew what had happened, I would never forget what happened that night and trust me Isis I never forgave my mother because of this. Leya was turned out of home without even being given an explanation as to what happened with her. I was of her age but I tried to help her in the only way I knew, I gave her the address where Grandma Brassia lived in isolation and some money which I had collected by selling the medicines and potions I brewed. She was trained well and she knew what to do and how much to do. Best of all Isis, she was a very strong mother. She had faced something which no one should do and she sacrificed her life only to protect you. You were even more important to her at her death. For her she was never ready to receive darkness because she was brought in a family where only light was practiced,” said Rossetta, her eyes were brimming with tears when she finished speaking. Rossetta continued,” I never wanted you to have any kind of idea about light or darkness because if it may come you must be open enough to receive what you are doing now. And look at the young lady, she is just doing fine.” Isis had long finished the glass and was hearing every single word of hers intently. She in her heart knew that her mother loved her even though her memory was not giving her that opportunity to remember and what more was that she hated the fact that her mother was not there at the time when she needed her the most. “Your mother never left you Isis. I know what you are thinking right now. In their teenage everyone need their mother more but I have never thought of you anything other than my own child. I have loved you probably even more than I could love my own child. If I can do anything more you just need to ask me once,” said Rossetta mildly. “What ever you have done Aunty is more than I can even ask for but the thing is that I cannot accept the fact that a father can drop his own child in danger just for the sake of having s*x. What Riley has asked me to do I won’t have any qualms about doing that but as a parent???? I have seen my mother dying to protect me and here I saw that a father let her daughter get killed for his own satisfaction. Can you make me understand the logic behind this?” “You know Isis there is actually no logic behind this action other than his libido had overpowered his brain functioning. And yes, he does not deserve to live. Are you prepared to do what needs to be done?”asked Rossetta, concern clear in her eyes. “If you are asking on moral grounds, then trust me I don’t have any guilt residing behind in my heart. I know that I am prepared to do the spell and I also know that I have Fluffy and Gruffy with me but still I have some doubts. I sense something else at work here Aunty, it is not the work of a psychopath because I have seen them getting drained by the creatures in the same way my mother was that night. Do you know Aunty how each girl was murdered?” asked Isis. “I have got some idea from what you told me the first time you said me this but not the whole story,” replied Rossetta. “Every girl was raped multiple times brutally, drained of blood by sucking out of her body like leeches and again they were killed by bashing down their heads with stones, no no not stones wait boulders. Their skulls were cracked and their brains were coming out. I even without having s*x have been raped so many times that I feel nothing else other than pure hate and rage,” said Isis with smouldering eyes. “Then where is the doubt? You seem to be pretty sorted out with your emotions,” said Rossetta. “I don’t know if I will find those bastards,” was her reply. “I know you haven’t read Bhagwad Gita, it is a holy scriptures of the Hindus. There it is being said it is not your duty to think about the results that will follow but you just need to focus on your actions. So at this moment keep no lack or cut no slack about what you want to do finally but just focus on what you have to do now,” Rossetta tried make Isis understand. “You are right Aunty, well I have two missions then tonight,” said Isis. “You shall go to that man first, kill him and then come back home and then you go to your second mission which is the most vital one and it needs to be properly commenced in the witching hour which is precisely at midnight. So I suggest get dolled up and finish him off with just the last kiss of his life,” winked Rossetta. “Why Aunty, I never knew you could do something, wait wait, you could say something like this,” guffawed Isis.”Well that was my plan exactly and now I have even a clearer idea of what I need to commit.” “I have had my fair share of days sweetheart. Now scrub up and scrub up well,” saying this Rossetta closed the door going out of the room.”Oh and yeah I forgot to mention one more thing, street-walkers with dark hair always put their hair up unlike the blonde bimbos,” said Rossetta once more peeking in. “Thanks for the word of caution Aunty, will keep it in mind,” shouted Isis at the closed door. Isis took out the black dress which she wore to the cemetery last night and decided to go without the jacket. She made her eyes smoky and applied kohl in an amount that was more considered to normal. She pulled up her hair and tied it in a horse-tail and applied carmine red lipstick on her lips. She was not looking like a w***e rather she was looking like a high-class escort.. But this had to do, she couldn’t change her face in an hour. She went down to the living room and Rossetta glanced at her top to bottom and said,” Ready to kill sweetie?” “More than I shall ever will be,” Isis replied in a cocky tone. “Take your pets with you. Not for anything else that matters but as an extra set of eyes to watch your back,” said Aunt Rossetta. Isis did not argue with her because she knew whatever her Aunt was saying was absolutely correct and she could really do with some extra security that Fluffy could provide and not to say the warmth of unconditional love which she brings with her.
