The contract was signed. Dimi was gone. Nothing was ever going to be the same again. All their hard work to allow them the freedom to come and go and escape the confines of their families were for naught because Dimi was gone.
She and Darya were curled up on Darya’s bed with Jinx between them after crying their hearts out.
“I miss her already,” Darya’s bottom lip trembled.
“Me too,” Magda whimpered.
“She said she wouldn’t be able to call for a long time.”
“I know.” She was going to start sobbing again. She rolled to her back. “We need to get out of here.”
“We can’t,” Darya moaned. “The press got wind of our address. They’ve been outside.”
