Chapter 4

Debra instantly chimed in, "Exactly! Someone as vicious and worthless as her has no place staying in this company. She needs to be fired!" David gave a cold laugh, "Bob, if you can't deal with this properly, my family won't let this matter go." Bob quickly wiped the sweat from his forehead and nodded over and over. "Yes, of course. Don't worry. We'll never allow someone like this to damage our reputation!" He turned back to me, his eyes filled with cold hostility. "Diana, clear out your desk and leave this company immediately. I'll make sure everyone in the industry knows what you've done and that you'll never be able to find another job in this field!" Watching them distort the truth so shamelessly, I found the entire situation almost laughable. I looked directly at Bob. "You're the company's vice president, yet you're deciding to fire me based on nothing but their accusations without looking into what actually happened? Are you really willing to let the Crownstone Group's reputation be destroyed by a vice president of one subsidiary?" My words struck a nerve. Bob's face twisted with anger as he pointed at me. "Who do you think you are? You actually dare to teach me a lesson?" Simon interrupted impatiently, "Bob, why are you wasting your time with her? Fire her. Now!" "You really believe you have the power to fire me?" I sneered. "What?" Vivian's eyes flickered as an idea suddenly crossed her mind. She grabbed a baton from the nearby security guard. "Diana, if you obediently let me break your legs, I'll make sure Bob doesn't fire you." Ever since my first day at the company, she had hated the fact that my 5'9" height made her 5'3" frame look even smaller. After that, the heels she wore to work became higher and higher. I never thought her jealousy would become this twisted, to the point where she wanted to destroy my legs. Vivian walked toward me with the baton in her hand. Charlie frowned slightly, but he made no move to stop her. Kevin and Simon watched from the side with entertained expressions, clearly waiting for the drama to unfold. Looking at Vivian's face, distorted by excitement, I finally couldn't tolerate it anymore. I stared straight into her eyes and said each word with unmistakable force. "Karen Cook, stop this." The instant that name came out, Vivian froze in place. The baton almost slipped from her fingers, and every bit of color drained from her face.
