Maria's eyes narrowed as she stared at the text on her phone: "I love you, always remember." She felt a shiver run down her spine. Who could be sending these messages? And how did they get her number? Maria's mind whirled with questions and fears. Was someone playing a cruel joke on her, or was there something more sinister at play? The words "I love you, always remember" sent a wave of nostalgia and longing through Maria. She felt a lump form in her throat as she read the message again. Could it be...? She thought back to her time in Mexico, to the boy she had fallen for, the boy who had whispered those exact words to her. Leonard. But he was long dead in that car accident. Whoever it was must be playing some memory games with her. Maria's eyes widened as the realization hit her. Leonard had passed away in that car accident, and yet... The message seemed to stir up old wounds, bringing back memories she thought she'd buried. Who could be doing this? The thought sent a chill down her spine. Was someone manipulating her, playing on her emotions? Maria's hand trembled slightly as she held the phone, her mind racing with possibilities. She tried to shake off the feeling of unease, telling herself it was just a prank. But the words lingered, echoing in her mind. "I love you, always remember." She felt a pang of sadness, memories of Leonard flooding back. From a distance stood an observer who was observing everything from the distance without being noticed with a camera in hand, taking several pictures. The observer's eyes were fixed on Maria, their camera capturing every nuance of her expression. They seemed to be studying her reaction, analyzing her emotions. As Maria's face reflected a mix of sadness and confusion, the observer's gaze intensified. They seemed to be savoring the moment, perhaps even manipulating the situation to elicit this exact response. The observer's finger moved swiftly over the camera's shutter button, capturing multiple shots of Maria's reaction. Their eyes never left her face, drinking in every detail. As Maria's emotions played out, the observer's expression remained unreadable. Gabriella's worried eyes scanned her daughter's face. "Maria, mija, what's wrong?" she asked, concern etched in her voice. Maria hesitated, unsure how to share her concerns about the mysterious texts... Katherine paced around the luxurious living room, her high heels clicking on the marble floor. "Leo, I need you to take care of something for me. It's regarding the family's Isla Espiritu Santo in Mexico," she said, expecting him to jump at her command. Leo, seated on the couch, raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips. "Oh? And what makes you think I'll do your bidding, Katherine?" he asked, his tone laced with subtle sarcasm. Katherine's expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. "Well, you're part of this family, aren't you?" Leo's smile grew wider. "Family?" He chuckled, the sound low and smooth. "Katherine, you have no idea who I am or what I'm capable of." Katherine's eyes narrowed, sensing a challenge. "What are you implying, Leo?" And with that, Leo's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, his expression unreadable. "Excuse me, Katherine. I have a matter to attend to. One that requires my...undivided attention." With that, he stood up, his movements fluid and powerful. Katherine watched, a mixture of curiosity and unease growing within her. Who was this young man, really? And what did he have planned? Katherine's eyes lingered on Leo as he departed, her mind whirling with her secret plan. She intended to marry Maria off to Donald, in order to watch Leo shattered while watching his lover marry his step brother but now Leo's unexpected presence and influence complicated matters. She turned to her loyal assistant, who stood discreetly in the corner. "See to it that Donald is prepared for the upcoming engagement announcement. I want everything perfect." The assistant nodded and swiftly exited, leaving Katherine to ponder her next move regarding Leo. Little did she know, Leo was already one step ahead, unraveling her secrets... Katherine's eyes narrowed as she watched Leo leave, her mind fueled by a toxic mix of ambition and resentment. She reveled in the idea of watching Leo shattered as Maria married Donald, but Leo's growing influence threatened to upend her plans. Her assistant's departure left her alone with her thoughts. Katherine's lips curled into a calculating smile. She would need to tread carefully, ensuring Leo remained unaware of her true intentions until the perfect moment. But Leo was indeed one step ahead, his investigation quietly gathering momentum. How would Katherine react when she discovered Leo was onto her? And what would be the cost for Maria, caught in the midst of their power struggle? Here, take this ring, I may die any time soon.... Robert said, giving a big diamond ring to Leo who in turn shook his head. No,father, you're not going to die but live! He gently slipped the ring back into his father's finger... Robert's eyes sparkled with tears as he gazed at Leo, his heart overflowing with gratitude and regret. "I'm so sorry, son," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I thought I'd lost you forever." Leo's expression softened, and he placed a reassuring hand on Robert's shoulder. "You're not going to lose me again, Father. I'm here now, and I'll take care of you." As Robert's eyes locked onto the ring, now back on his finger, he smiled weakly. "You always were a stubborn one, just like your mother." Leo's eyes clouded for a moment, memories of his mother flooding back. "I miss her, Father," he said softly. Robert's grip on Leo's hand tightened. "I miss her too, son. But I'm glad you're here with me now. There's something I need to tell you, something important..." And with that, Robert's voice trailed off, his eyes fixed on something behind Leo. A mixture of alarm and warning flashed across his face... What was Robert trying to say? And what caught his attention? Robert coughed slightly and Leo quickly stood up to get him water but on his return, he saw that Robert was dead. Leo's eyes widened in horror as he approached his father's lifeless body. He had just been talking to him, and now... He felt a wave of grief wash over him, mixed with a sense of unfinished business. He gently touched Robert's face, hoping against hope that he would wake up. But it was too late. Robert's eyes stared blankly into space, frozen in a permanent goodbye. Leo's mind reeled as he processed the sudden loss. He had just found his father, and now he was gone. The ring on Robert's finger seemed to gleam mockingly, a reminder of the unfinished conversation, the unanswered questions. As Leo stood there, frozen in shock, he heard a faint noise behind him. Footsteps. Someone was coming. And they didn't seem to be trying to be quiet…
