316 Words
Chapter Nine: The Challenge Word spread through the village of strange things happening near the forest, and curious villagers followed the whispers to see what all the fuss was about. One day, Obba was found singing to the river, her voice weaving a gentle melody that seemed to dance on the water's surface. Her siblings, who had grown accustomed to their sister's quirks, couldn't help but laugh at the sight. "That's not real shaping," Wed said, his voice dripping with disdain. "That's just noise." But the elders, who had seen the water respond to Obba's song before, watched with a more discerning eye. They saw the way the river seemed to come alive, forming arches and swirls that reflected every note of Obba's melody. The chief, a wise and aged woman, approached Obba with a thoughtful expression. "Would you show us again?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity. Obba nodded, and began to sing once more. The village watched in awe as the river responded, its waters dancing and swirling in perfect harmony with Obba's voice. The chief's eyes widened in amazement, and she turned to the villagers with a whispered comment. "Gifted," she said. "Just... different." The villagers murmured among themselves, some looking at Obba with newfound respect, while others seemed skeptical. But Obba didn't mind. She knew that she had discovered something special, something that set her apart from her siblings and the rest of the village. And as she stood there, surrounded by the gentle music of the river, she felt a sense of pride and belonging that she had never felt before. The chief's words lingered in the air, a subtle acknowledgment of Obba's unique gift. And as the villagers dispersed, Obba knew that her life would never be the same. She had found her place in the world, and she was ready to see where her song would take her.
