It has been about a week and a half since we started staying at our Aunt's house and Star and I decided to practice on her powers again. We had to wait until our Aunt went shopping because she didn't know about Star’s powers yet, and Star was too scared to tell anyone. She barely felt good talking to me about it because she was scared I was disappointed in her, I have never been and never will. As our aunt leaves the house we wave her goodbye and smile. Star and I go into the field to practice just in case... I didn't want her feeling worse if something did happen. Once we reach the same practice spot as last time we sit and talk for a while.
“So Star do you know all your powers already or just the 3?” I ask smiling. She thinks for a bit and smiles back at me. “I will say all the ones I know. Demon strength, wings, fire, healing, and….” she stops talking and all is silent. I can understand why she stopped. There must be something different that she doesn't know how to explain.“Emma do you see a wolf in your dreams?” she finally says after a long silence. I freeze and just stare at her.
“I-in every dream?” I ask her, still startled. She slowly nods noticing how I reacted. “Star… I do to… he talks to me and well he has been right about the things that have happened.” I dare tell her about what could happen to me. I couldn't risk her powers getting out of control at this moment. She smiles knowing it wasn't just her.
“I see him in the darkened spots of every dream. I notice he always watches me,” she said.
“Ok. umm back to practising!” I said changing the subject. She giggled at how I said it so fast, it wasn't my fault she sounded too creepy.
“Ok!” she said smiling back. “I had an idea for today. I was wondering if we could work on my flying!” she said making her wings appear. I gaze upon the starlight sky coloured wings along with the blue rim. My mouth gaped open as she stretched them out. Her demon crystal was glowing a tint of white. “So how do you fly?” she asked. she looked at me and saw my still gaping mouth she laughed and closed her wings.“They're not that cool!” she said.I taught her the basics about her wings and as she got used to the muscles and how she could open and close them she began to smile at me. She burst into the air with no practice at all.
“Star?! How did you do that???” I scream in disbelief.
“I always study how you fly and how you need to flap your wings! I think it's fascinating how you fly~” she called back. I snicker at her because the landing was the hardest part.
“Hehe well now try and land!” I call up to her. I open my wings ready to catch her if she needs me. I see a car drive past. Knowing people could see Star I get scared and forget about her. She begins flying down but without me looking I couldn't see that she was starting to stumble. I turn around to see Star land face-first into the grass. “Star!” I yell. Trying hard not to laugh I run over to her making sure she’s okay. She smiles at me and begins healing herself making sure she is okay.
“that was awesome!” she says looking back up at me with an accomplished smile across her face. “Yes, it was!” I say smiling and helping her to her feet.We fly around for a while practicing speed and landing but every now and then I would look over at the road where I saw that one. I smile back at Star trying to hide how scared I was.
“Come on Star let's head back inside,” I say smiling at her.
“Ok,” she said. She was worn out from the practice so it wasn't hard for her to say yes. We smile at each other and race to the door. as we reach the door I stop and turn around, I felt like we were being watched.
“Star let’s quickly head inside!” I say panicked. She looks at me and I point to the street where the trees started. We both stop and stare at what looks like Ava’s car. We both hurried inside but we already know she saw us. We sigh knowing she knows where we are and look at each other in disbelief.
“How?!” Star asks. I look at her knowing she was talking about how Ava found us.
“Don't worry Star.” “you’re not the one she’s after,” I mumble under my breath.
