Part 1 chapter 4

It's now Tuesday and school was just like yesterday, but Ira, Star, and I all hung out at lunch. I went outside for lunch today because the clubs weren't running and Clinton and Carl stayed inside, or at least out of sight. But I had a good day. “Hey Star, did you see Clinton or Carl at all today?” I ask as we lay on our bed. Star looked up at the roof painted with glow in the dark star stickers as she thought. “No I didn't, now that I think of it,” she replied. I smiled, “do you think they weren't at school today, and maybe it's safe to go for a bike ride!” I say jumping off my bed. “Yeah let's go!” she said as she almost fell off her bed with excitement. “Bye mom!” me and Star say leaving the house. “So what do you want to do?” Star asks. I look around for an idea but the one thing I stopped to look at is each alleyway I didn't want to go in them but I know Star wanted an adventure, besides I liked all the flowers, trees, and gardens in the back. I breathed in and sighed. “wanna go for an adventure?” I ask Star with a small smile on my face. “Don't worry nothing really can go wrong, right?” I continue. She knew I was hinting towards the alleyways, she was scared but she loved exploring them. “Ok. . .” she said. We paused for a moment facing our bikes to an alleyway when I noticed Star was smiling for a minute. Once she realized, she started biking into it, “race you!” she called back. My eyes open with excitement and I start biking with her. About 25 minutes into biking, Star and I took a sharp turn which eventually went to a dead end but it was cool, there was a broken tree near the entrance that looked like it could fall over with a good push and there were a bike and a scooter at the end but it was too dark to make out the colours on them. Star and I were about to turn back after we heard a crashing noise behind us. We both jumped from the sudden noise and turned around, the tree was knocked over. “But how? There’s no one in the backyard...” I mumbled to myself. Then it was quiet, too quiet. Star poked me on the shoulder softly like she saw something and wanted me to see it. I didn't want to turn around but did anyway. It was darker now that the tree fell over, but once my eyes adjusted I made out two figures. I knew exactly who they were. I began to have a panic attack and Star was just frozen. She was scared to be alone, I may have been right beside her but it's not like I can do anything while having a panic attack. She knew that there was very little that could get me out of a panic attack in the middle of what gives me one. Then it all calmed down, my eyes went dark again, and my hands burned. “I have to keep control...” I mumbled to myself, I knew all my ways to get out of a panic attack but this was the worst. I stood up and put my hand on Star’s shoulder. Subsiding the panic attack takes too much of my strength. “We may be faced with them, but you know we're safe,” I say reassuring Star. I felt her relax, she knew I was right, and she knew I would do anything to keep her from getting hurt. She sighed softly and gave them a small emotionless grin as she stepped back. Clinton and Carl approached slowly. “Finally ready to fight? Is your stupid dramatic act over too?” I hear Clinton's voice say. With my eyes black, I can see clearly in the darkness and I think that's my only advantage without her taking over. Clinton had a baseball bat while Carl was holding the same knife from last time. I sighed knowing I could win this if she took control but I wouldn't let that happen. Clinton begins to swing while Carl was charging at me with the knife, I tried to move out of the way, but he stabbed my arm and pushed me over to Clinton I kinda jumped at the pain so Clinton hit me in the shoulder with the bat. I was left on the ground as they walked over to Star, frozen on the ground, she was just sitting there. “Y-you know… Whoever is killed by a demon… Is forgotten unless taught to remember.” I say standing up with a psychotic smile. I had tears rolling down my face not wanting it to let go, “I'm sorry Star.” I couldn't hold back anymore, big red and magenta coloured wings burst out of my back, red with magenta tipped horns stuck out of my head and a devilish tail appeared too. “So you wanted a fight? Well, now you have one!” I say in a demonic voice. With tears rolling down my face, I approached Clinton and Carl, “go away you d-demon!” Clinton says pointing the bat at Star. “Are you name-calling or stating the obvious now?” I say raising my palm to the air, a dark red and black flame appeared out of my hand, Clinton and Carl both dropped their weapons in fright. I throw the fire at them burning them slightly. I am waiting for the moment Star tells me to stop. Only a few seconds pass before she speaks up. “E-Emma please, Don't kill them,” She said weakly. I closed my hand and the fire disappeared, “I never wanted to kill them, I just wanted to give them a bad time,” I reply to Star with a chuckle as Clinton and Carl stand up. She smiled at me with little strength, I burned the tree away so we could go. On our way out I stopped in front of Clinton and Carl “Don't ever try that again,” I say, my psychotic voice returning. I snickered as it made them flinch. “Ok I'm ready to go back now,” I said giggling. My wounds healed slowly by my magic and I put on my helmet. Star smiled at me knowing, now that I taught them that lesson everything might go back to normal. Hopefully. Once my eyes returned to normal and the demonic part of me disappeared, me and Star got on our bikes and headed home. As we were biking I realized how much Star has been through because of me. Once again relapsing and guilt-tripping myself. “So, that was exciting,” I say holding back tears. “I know you think it's your fault, Emma. Just remember you're amazing because of that power! And if someone picks on us, they will regret it sooner or later.” she said with a giggle, forcing herself to look at the good in all this. I stopped biking and stood there with my head facing down, “t-thank you Star,” I say with my eyes filled with tears and a smile on my face. “I don't know what I would do without a sister like you.” She smiled and giggled. “Everything you say when your sad sounds so cheesy!” I laugh and sigh. “Yeah yeah… Let's just go home now.” I mumble starting to bike again. I push away the sadness and race her home. “Come on! If we're lucky mom will take us out for dinner!” I could hear her laughter as she sped up beside me. “This is only 50 percent of my power!” I yelled laughing and speeding up more. “You’ll never beat me!” “Wanna bet?” “Sure.” I grinned and let her speed up to match my pace. “Just remember I'm the one with the demonic strength here.” She was breathing heavily and pushing herself. “Y-yeah yeah. I’m the one with the determination though!” She sped up riding ahead of me and since I was too busy laughing she got home before me. I stand there shocked. “I call hacks!” I laugh. She bursts into laughter and skids her bike to a stop as I do the same. We bring out bikes inside and lean them against the wall with our helmets. “W-wow you have gotten really fast,” I say smiling as we both catch our breaths. “Yeah now come on. Let's get this day over and done with for school tomorrow.”
