I sat in detention, unsurprisingly finding myself surrounded by familiar faces. "Chloe! Come here!" Kai's loud voice drew the teacher's glare, but Hayden continued to ignore me. Despite that, I allowed my feet to carry me slowly towards Kai, earning a smile from Leah.
"How's your day going?" she asked, and I glanced at her.
"Could be better," I replied, alluding to my current detention. She chuckled in response.
"Well, at least you get to spend time with us," she said, her smile warm. I returned the smile.
"We're all going to a party tonight. Want to come?" Kai offered, but I shook my head.
"I'm really tired," I said, stifling a yawn as I spoke.
"That's fine. I'll bring you back a beer," he replied, and I chuckled softly.
