"How's my favorite girl?" Maya asked, and I laughed as she affectionately kissed my head.
A throat cleared from behind us, and we turned to find Leah with her arms crossed.
"That's a bit hurtful, Maya," she said, and Maya smiled, giving me one more kiss on the head before pointing towards the stairs.
"Slim is up there getting tutored. Go grab him," she instructed me, and I nodded, heading up the stairs.
I knocked on the door and waited for him to open it. The door swung open, but it was the girl from earlier who answered.
"Yes?" she asked, and I pursed my lips.
"Let her in, Loren," Hayden said irritably, and I wondered if his annoyance was directed at me.
"It's fine. Maya said to come get you," I said from outside before turning and making my way back downstairs.
