Episode 14 — The Night She Disappeared

533 Words
The city lights shimmered beneath the balcony. Lena leaned against the railing, trying to calm the storm inside her chest. Everything that happened at the gala still felt unreal. The kiss. The way Adrian had claimed her in front of everyone. The humiliation on Victoria’s face. Behind her, the balcony door slid open. Adrian stepped outside, his presence immediately filling the space. “You shouldn’t stand out here alone,” he said. Lena turned toward him. “I just needed air.” His eyes softened slightly. “Tonight was a lot.” “That’s an understatement,” she replied quietly. For a moment they stood in silence, the cool night wind brushing past them. Then Adrian stepped closer. “Did the kiss bother you?” he asked. Lena blinked. “…Why would you ask that?” “Because you’re thinking about it.” Her cheeks warmed. “Maybe I am.” Adrian’s lips curved faintly. “I meant what I said in there,” he murmured. “What part?” “That you’re my wife.” Her heart skipped. Before she could respond, Adrian’s phone suddenly rang. His expression changed instantly. The ruthless billionaire was back. He answered the call. “Yes.” A pause. Then his eyes darkened. “What do you mean she left the building?” Lena frowned. “What’s wrong?” Adrian slowly lowered the phone. “You were supposed to have two guards watching you.” “I did.” “They just reported that you walked out through the east entrance.” “That’s impossible,” Lena said immediately. “I’ve been here the whole time.” Adrian’s expression turned deadly. “Then someone used your name.” A cold chill ran through her body. Before either of them could speak again— A loud crash echoed behind them. The balcony door burst open. Three masked men rushed inside. Everything happened too fast. Adrian moved instantly, pulling Lena behind him. “Get down!” he shouted. One of the men lunged forward. Adrian punched him hard, sending him crashing into the glass table. But another attacker grabbed Lena’s arm. She screamed. “Adrian!” Adrian turned— But the third man slammed something into the back of his head. The billionaire staggered. For the first time since she had met him, Lena saw Adrian lose balance. “ADRIAN!” The world spun as someone covered her mouth. Her vision blurred as a cloth pressed against her face. The last thing she saw before darkness swallowed her was Adrian struggling to stand— His furious voice echoing across the balcony. “Touch her and you’re dead!” Then everything went black. --- Adrian collapsed to one knee. Blood trickled down the side of his head. The balcony was empty. Lena was gone. For a long moment, the world felt silent. Then Adrian slowly stood. His entire body radiated something terrifying. Not panic. Not fear. Rage. Pure, ruthless rage. He picked up his phone. “Activate every security team,” he said coldly. “Sir?” “They took my wife.” The temperature in his voice dropped dangerously. “And whoever did it… just started a war.”
