The day was hardly worth describing. School, Homework, chores, and anticipation for the night. Night couldn't come soon enough. but eventually it did come. She fell asleep quickly
She met the in between once again, where thoughts run wild. A phrase came to her mind before she surrendered to the night
'turn back'
After nothing, she heard echoes, crickets, and drips. she looked about. she was in a bleak cave, torches lining the wall. She looked around, and could only find the young girl from the previous night. " where are we..?" she asked. her voice sounded scared.
Lela held out her hand " lets figure it out" she said. The young blond took her hand and walked close to her side.
The little girl shook a little as she walked along, even though they couldn't feel the cold they still shivered. Lela could even see her breath that swirl in front of her. She felt an intense feeling of dread, like they were being watched by something or someone. Lela decided to distract the little girl
" whats your name? mines Lela" she said, keeping her voice quiet. She was scared that something deep in the cave would come after them if it heard them. " Sky.." said the little girl distractedly. She clung tightly to Lelas hand as she walked. Their footsteps echoed loudly in the low ceilinged cave.
" Thats a really pretty name" Lela said with a warm smile. She had always been good with kids, good at talking to them and making them feel better. But Sky wasn't cheering up. Lela didn't blame her though. The feeling of impending doom seemed almost as constant as her sorrow. her breath shook as she walked.
They came to a fork of the paths. " Its a maze-" Sky said, just as Lela thought the same thing. " so which way do we go?" Lela asked.
Sky bounced softly with anxiety " uh.. this way" she pointed to a path on the left. Lela had no real lead so off down the left path they went. The path was long and winding, and the further in they got the more the feeling of dread seemed to sink in. Lelas eyes darted about the opening quickly as she walked. Saying she felt a pit in her stomach did no justice to how she felt. Sinkhole was a better term for how her stomach felt. She heard soft voices from around the corner.
Lela held sky close, as to protect her from what ever was there, until she recognized it as Mishka and Ariana's voices. She couldn't hear a thing they were saying though. In a quick moment of excitement she rounded the corner quickly. She hadn't thought that they too, were most likely scared. Ariana jumped in fear of the sudden greeting. and Mishka pointed a gun he must have summoned.
Sky screamed and dove clung to Lela. but after a second Mishka lowered the gun " My apologies." he said.
Sky was sobbing into Lelas white jumpsuit. Mishka sighed " I think there's something that means ill intent in these caverns"
Lela nodded, she too thought that " don't worry about it" She said, as Ariana rushed to Skys side to assist her though her fear.
Ariana hugged sky " you poor baby..." she muttered, as Sky clung to Ariana.
Down the cave there was the sound of dragging chains. Ariana saw it first.
And was the first to scream.
